Samsung's Nexus 10 tablet said to launch in the first half of next year

0. phoneArena 12 Oct 2012, 09:49 posted on

It turns out we may have to wait a bit longer than expected for the rumored Nexus 10 tablet by Samsung. A new rumor claims that for unknown reasons, the 10" Nexus may not launch by the end of this year, but will see the light of day sometime in the first half of 2013...

If this tablet reaches 300 ppi, it will thrash iPad's retina display. No longer Resolutionary.

No dude, These people definitlely need to stop this "MOAR PIXELS" war. ppi is just one aspect in the display quality. Color gaumet, Contrast ratios, Outdoor visibility does matter a lot. Android tablets already have those aspects without those "RESOLUTIONARY PIXELS". Do you know how the tech sites measure the ppi of the screen?

i know...why not focus on the processor, or microSD slot, or HDMI, or cam...no ones gonna take a magnifying glass to read on a tablet..

Do you know how the tech sites measure the ppi of the screen? under a microscope, Yes under a freaking microscope... No one is going to watch their tablet through microscope in day to day life... Its waste of battery and waste of processing power....

umm...no....they just calculate the total no. of pixels and divide it by the surface area of the screen.

lol, i know that. my point was they compare the display of the normal screens and retina screens under a microscope and say that retina is better.. Thats the only way to differentiate those two screens. Under normal viewing distances Asus Transformers tablet's 1080p display and iPad retina display is more or less same Will you be watching your gadget screen through microscope? I hope you don't...

PPI =square root of horizontal resolution squared + vertical resolution squared / diagonal screen size in inches.

While you may argue how important the pixel count is compared to those other features you mentioned, it does not mean that more pixels is not a good thing. Studies have shown that the more high-definition a display gets, the better it is for our eyes. People who read on their devices or even play video games would be able to benefit from the added pixels.

Here is just one of the articles to read about it:

Well, if you read that article yourself, there is no scientific, sound proof that increased No. of pixels will reduce eye strain... He just blindly claim that great color saturations and other apsects will reduce eye visual discomfort without any concrete proof or explanation...
If you visit this article in that same website you would get my point...

I almost forgot to say these 2 things:
1st, Apple just got burned like toast, YO!!!

And 2nd, I won't just by this tablet, I'll imbrase it

I think so Samsung's Nexus 10 inch tablet will be brought in Google I/O 2013 with next Android version OS "Key Lime Pie".I want next OS version integrated with full of gestures like BB 10 OS.

Be careful about what u say about the ipad, the KING will return again around the same time in its 4th iteration, this time with an even more powerful GPU and a faster CPU along with A thinner design and much better camera. Also.............................. EXPECT IN CELL TOUCH TECHNOLOGY. It already has a the best tablet camera and the best gpu on a mobile device.

Speculating, but there is a 91% chance that the ipad will have these upgrades.

not interested in that much pixels, anything more than full HD is useless (at least for me) it only uses more battery and requires very powerful chip to achieve the smoothness. so the more pixels, more powerful chip and bigger battery will just add $$ and the only thing (again for me) the high pixels are required is just movies and no single movie is recorded with more pixel than FHD ATM. other than that like games and web browsing don't really need that pixel.

give me FHD tab with longer battery life and smoother UI and I am more than happy

I agree with you but Technological advancements is always a gOod thing!
Anyway..I desire to have OMAP 5 or S4 pro in it just for the sake of development. :-)

I completely agrre with you, but until we have very powerful and battery saving chips and until there is big improvement in battery department, I do prefer to get FHD.

I don't think OMAP 5 or S4 pro can handle 2560 x 1600 resolution very well. adreno 320 in three times the pwer of 220 and 2560 x 1600 is almost three times the resolution of HD screens. so if we have this resolution and adreno 320 is like having HD phone with adreno 220, which as you can see in may phone that this combination do not produce really smooth device (ofcourse the reality will be different and OS improvement, but this is just to show that there is no enough advancement in the chips department to cope with this resolution).

I think that powervr SGX544MP2 @ 532 MHz with its built in graphics accelerator present in OMAP 5 can handle the mammoth resolution..(you can take the case of iPad 3).
few months ago I compared the display of Sony tablet with the iPad 3..I liked the display of the new iPad.
Jb already is very well coded to provide smooth performance.

According to this-http://www.androidauthority.com/adreno-320-features-performance-benchmarks-103269/
Mali T604 can really beat PowerVr's SGX543MP4..!!

we don't know how T604 will perform in reality, but it is expected to not exceed the adreno 320 by too much.

I would go with higher resolution than FHD with next generation of GPUs (after adreno 320 or t604) such as adreno 420 (if there is one) or T658.

I think you are right..
The next gen GPUs like tegra4 or MALI T658 should be able to power the high resolution.
(adreno320 will definetely not be able to handle the resolution of 2560 x 1600)
and the next gen GPUs will also support OpenGL ES 3.0 which will definitely increase the gaming performance..
We'll have to wait and watch..!

first, the new ipad uses MP4 not MP2 (MP4 has four cores compared to MP2 which has two cores, so MP4 has twice the power of MP2), second, the new ipad has less pixel, third and more importantly (and i hate to say this) but iOS was smooth since the iphone 4 which uses much weaker GPU compared to adreno 225, however, adreno 225 didn't achieve the smoothness of the iphone 4.

so we can't compare the new ipad with this (if it is using OMAP5) as the new ipad uses GPU with twice the power, less resolution and more optimised OS

Oops..I am sorry..
It was a typing error.
I think any GPU comparable to sgx540mp4 will be a good match.
And..JB,according to me is very smooth and probably as smooth as iOs..
