Samsung's Nexus 10 tablet said to launch in the first half of next year
0. phoneArena posted on 12 Oct 2012, 09:49
It turns out we may have to wait a bit longer than expected for the rumored Nexus 10 tablet by Samsung. A new rumor claims that for unknown reasons, the 10" Nexus may not launch by the end of this year, but will see the light of day sometime in the first half of 2013...

If this tablet reaches 300 ppi, it will thrash iPad's retina display. No longer Resolutionary.
4. sheik posted on 12 Oct 2012, 09:59 13 2
No dude, These people definitlely need to stop this "MOAR PIXELS" war. ppi is just one aspect in the display quality. Color gaumet, Contrast ratios, Outdoor visibility does matter a lot. Android tablets already have those aspects without those "RESOLUTIONARY PIXELS". Do you know how the tech sites measure the ppi of the screen?

Id kill for more features. Give me a 1080p display hmm maybe a built in blu ray player to haha

CD/DVD Player will really be a killer feature!!
Anyway..at present still a dream..

i know...why not focus on the processor, or microSD slot, or HDMI, or cam...no ones gonna take a magnifying glass to read on a tablet..
12. sheik posted on 12 Oct 2012, 10:10 5 2
Do you know how the tech sites measure the ppi of the screen? under a microscope, Yes under a freaking microscope... No one is going to watch their tablet through microscope in day to day life... Its waste of battery and waste of processing power....
32. Evil.Bunny posted on 12 Oct 2012, 14:12 1 0
umm...no....they just calculate the total no. of pixels and divide it by the surface area of the screen.
47. sheik posted on 13 Oct 2012, 01:23 0 0
lol, i know that. my point was they compare the display of the normal screens and retina screens under a microscope and say that retina is better.. Thats the only way to differentiate those two screens. Under normal viewing distances Asus Transformers tablet's 1080p display and iPad retina display is more or less same Will you be watching your gadget screen through microscope? I hope you don't...

PPI =square root of horizontal resolution squared + vertical resolution squared / diagonal screen size in inches.
42. Dr.Phil posted on 12 Oct 2012, 16:49 0 0
While you may argue how important the pixel count is compared to those other features you mentioned, it does not mean that more pixels is not a good thing. Studies have shown that the more high-definition a display gets, the better it is for our eyes. People who read on their devices or even play video games would be able to benefit from the added pixels.
Here is just one of the articles to read about it:
48. sheik posted on 13 Oct 2012, 01:51 0 0
Well, if you read that article yourself, there is no scientific, sound proof that increased No. of pixels will reduce eye strain... He just blindly claim that great color saturations and other apsects will reduce eye visual discomfort without any concrete proof or explanation...
If you visit this article in that same website you would get my point...

1st, Apple just got burned like toast, YO!!!
And 2nd, I won't just by this tablet, I'll imbrase it

I think so Samsung's Nexus 10 inch tablet will be brought in Google I/O 2013 with next Android version OS "Key Lime Pie".I want next OS version integrated with full of gestures like BB 10 OS.

Be careful about what u say about the ipad, the KING will return again around the same time in its 4th iteration, this time with an even more powerful GPU and a faster CPU along with A thinner design and much better camera. Also.............................. EXPECT IN CELL TOUCH TECHNOLOGY. It already has a the best tablet camera and the best gpu on a mobile device.

Speculating, but there is a 91% chance that the ipad will have these upgrades.

If this is real the should be gunning for the christmas market. Not the tax rush!
6. ahomad posted on 12 Oct 2012, 10:02 0 0
not interested in that much pixels, anything more than full HD is useless (at least for me) it only uses more battery and requires very powerful chip to achieve the smoothness. so the more pixels, more powerful chip and bigger battery will just add $$ and the only thing (again for me) the high pixels are required is just movies and no single movie is recorded with more pixel than FHD ATM. other than that like games and web browsing don't really need that pixel.
give me FHD tab with longer battery life and smoother UI and I am more than happy
9. kartik4u98 posted on 12 Oct 2012, 10:07 1 0
I agree with you but Technological advancements is always a gOod thing!
Anyway..I desire to have OMAP 5 or S4 pro in it just for the sake of development. :-)
16. ahomad posted on 12 Oct 2012, 10:28 1 0
I completely agrre with you, but until we have very powerful and battery saving chips and until there is big improvement in battery department, I do prefer to get FHD.
I don't think OMAP 5 or S4 pro can handle 2560 x 1600 resolution very well. adreno 320 in three times the pwer of 220 and 2560 x 1600 is almost three times the resolution of HD screens. so if we have this resolution and adreno 320 is like having HD phone with adreno 220, which as you can see in may phone that this combination do not produce really smooth device (ofcourse the reality will be different and OS improvement, but this is just to show that there is no enough advancement in the chips department to cope with this resolution).
21. kartik4u98 posted on 12 Oct 2012, 11:19 0 0
I think that powervr SGX544MP2 @ 532 MHz with its built in graphics accelerator present in OMAP 5 can handle the mammoth resolution..(you can take the case of iPad 3).
few months ago I compared the display of Sony tablet with the iPad 3..I liked the display of the new iPad.
Jb already is very well coded to provide smooth performance.
22. kartik4u98 posted on 12 Oct 2012, 11:21 0 0
According to this-http://www.androidauthority.com/adreno-320-features-performance-benchmarks-103269/
Mali T604 can really beat PowerVr's SGX543MP4..!!
25. ahomad posted on 12 Oct 2012, 11:43 0 0
we don't know how T604 will perform in reality, but it is expected to not exceed the adreno 320 by too much.
I would go with higher resolution than FHD with next generation of GPUs (after adreno 320 or t604) such as adreno 420 (if there is one) or T658.
46. kartik4u98 posted on 12 Oct 2012, 22:36 0 0
I think you are right..
The next gen GPUs like tegra4 or MALI T658 should be able to power the high resolution.
(adreno320 will definetely not be able to handle the resolution of 2560 x 1600)
and the next gen GPUs will also support OpenGL ES 3.0 which will definitely increase the gaming performance..
We'll have to wait and watch..!
24. ahomad posted on 12 Oct 2012, 11:40 0 0
first, the new ipad uses MP4 not MP2 (MP4 has four cores compared to MP2 which has two cores, so MP4 has twice the power of MP2), second, the new ipad has less pixel, third and more importantly (and i hate to say this) but iOS was smooth since the iphone 4 which uses much weaker GPU compared to adreno 225, however, adreno 225 didn't achieve the smoothness of the iphone 4.
so we can't compare the new ipad with this (if it is using OMAP5) as the new ipad uses GPU with twice the power, less resolution and more optimised OS
45. kartik4u98 posted on 12 Oct 2012, 22:25 0 0
Oops..I am sorry..
It was a typing error.
I think any GPU comparable to sgx540mp4 will be a good match.
And..JB,according to me is very smooth and probably as smooth as iOs..

13. fistigons posted on 12 Oct 2012, 10:11 0 2
I'll be eyeing this. My iPad is showing its age, but is still able to do everything I need it to do despite only having 256mb of RAM. May have to stick with Apple for the tablet department. Nothing compares apps/battery life.

seriously get a grip, i know you no longer reply...as your probably unable to come up with a proper comment.
the ipad isnt the best tablet, or the tablet of choice for everyone. its more a status symbol then tablet just for people to say look i have an ipad.
if your going for a tablet there are new and better ones coming so go cry to apple
33. Twisted247 posted on 12 Oct 2012, 14:14 0 0
+1 on the status symbol comment
I have many friends and family members who are apple users with the iphones and ipads. In regards to their iphones they will constantly show off and pull out their iphone whenever possible. Then carry on to say how its the most advanced and best phone available anywhere etc.. (referring to the iphone4s at the time and previous gens). I would simply ask them why that is that they claim its the best and funny enough NONE of them ever have an answer. If i were to shoot them a few quick FACTS about Android devices out that are superior most usually fall back to "well we have more apps!". KUDOS!!
I haven't followed the tablet lines as closely as the phones, but I have been using an Android tablet lately. I am looking to purchase one soon, not sure which one though so maybe this next Nexus one may be it.
38. chaoticrazor posted on 12 Oct 2012, 15:23 0 0
exactly, when you ask an iphone user to give facts to back up there claims when they go round saying its the best etc they cant think of anything.
functionality android has iOS beat, so in terms of tablets where you want more functionality its obvious android will have the advantage.
apple basically make the same product in differant sizes when you scrap away the fancy marketing, you have the:
ipod touch- iphone without the phone basically
ipad-bigger ipod touch
obviously this is a general overlook but point stands.
39. gallitoking posted on 12 Oct 2012, 15:46 0 0
my ipad is the best in the market because it works out of the box and is not as complicated as Android tablest... back by their award winning customer service, and Apple is a brand I can rely for a quality product, this means nothing to people that care about specs thats why we dont say why Apple is the best for us.. you simply wont understand or dispute everything
41. chaoticrazor posted on 12 Oct 2012, 15:57 0 0
ipad is not the best in the market just because you like it.
apple is abrand u can rely on for a quality product........i think you need to look at the iphone 5 and then speak about quality. apple are dropping the ball on that.
''we dont say why Apple is the best for us.. you simply wont understand or dispute everything''
first who are ''we'' its just you, your not part of a group.
second you spend your time telling everyone apple is the best then go cry when your proven wrong so your comment makes no sense
43. remixfa posted on 12 Oct 2012, 18:20 0 0
You have yet to play with ICS/JB have you. If you find that complicated your a tard. ICS was an awesome upgrade to GB. However JB just blows it out of the water. iOS has zero on JB. you cant argue anything from smoothness, eas of use, apps, features or stability. Android has it beat in every category.
Until you've used it, your just talking out of your feathered behind.
44. Twisted247 posted on 12 Oct 2012, 19:48 0 0
Quality and customer service mean nothing to people that care about specs? I am an informed consumer I spend a decent amount of time before i purchase any cell phone/tv/car/motorcycle etc.
I look into these things with an open mind and consider FACTS as well as opinions from multiple sources. Then after seeing everything that has been laid before me i make an informed decision on my purchase.
Unlike what it sounds like you do and just follow a brand and jump in head first, I'm sure you were probably inline the night of the launch of Iphone5/ipad2 etc.. Not stopping to give it a minute and see if there are any issues considering its a new product that has yet to hit the mass market at the time. Like stated below you in regards to apple's "quality" I can't remember the last time a smart phone had so many issues and failures right out of the gate in the past few years..
Coming right out of the gate with scratches and gouges on the screen and surrounding hardware, camera issues. Along with all the software issues with iOS6, maps app, to canceling meetings for corporations and so on. So if all of this is apple's "quality" which you choose to defend so blindly, then I will GLADLY stick to my Android OS/device. < exhibit A; as a response to another blind apple defender.
As for its "complicated" use i will be sure to pass that on to my 10yr old nephew who navigates his android.
34. remixfa posted on 12 Oct 2012, 14:15 0 0
coming out so late would be challenging the "new new" ipad which launches near that time frame as well, so its going to need to be darn beefy to compete.
That said.. hubba hubba. You got my attention. Nexus device with an A15 and 300ppi screen? Consider me intrigued.
I like that Nexus devices are going high end this year between the LG Nexus 4 and the Nexus 10 rumors. Keep it up!
