Samsung's Game Launcher 2.0 update brings curated discovery, game tools for regular apps

Samsung's most aggressive take on the mobile gaming phenomenon so far have been the Game Launcher and Game Tools offerings that came this spring with the Galaxy S7, and a grand update for those helpers just rolled out. The Game Launcher 2.0 update brings with it Game Discovery - a curated list based on your history and preferences - as well as the My Diary section, which logs and charts your score records.

The Game Launcher interface has also undergone some welcome changes, like a blurry background to make the icons and text stand out better. Furthermore, you can now use Game Tools for apps, too, by adding them to the Game Launcher folder.

The tools let you minimize the game screen when you have to make a quick run and do something else on your phone, switch off distracting notifications and lock navigational keys so you don't inadvertently mess with the gameplay, and also lets you record and broadcast gaming sessions.

The new Game Launcher 2.0 update can be downloaded from Galaxy Apps on older phones like the Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+, while your newer Samsung handset like the Galaxy S7, S7 edge, S7 active, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy A8, C5, C7 and C9, should have it preinstalled.
