We talking about the sgs3 related to the article or something else not related?

I was responding to, "Samsung is doing well, but..."

35. sudbury78 posted on 04 Sep 2012, 14:49 2 5

Nope. I pay attention to the stock that I purchased at $118 and the fact the public knows the Iphone is set to release in September so obviously the iphone sales will slow. What a stupid argument and article. Long live the king Tim

36. infinitemethod posted on 04 Sep 2012, 14:52 2 2

You should put more stock into Samsung. It's not what's on the outside, it's what's on the inside!

39. sudbury78 posted on 04 Sep 2012, 14:57 2 4

No Reason to own another Technology stock. Zero. None.

You're such a sourpuss.

I'm not saying it to be mean, it's just an observation. Every time I see you post you've been a real grumpy Gus.

38. remixfa posted on 04 Sep 2012, 14:57 7 1

its so stupid why?
No single phone has ever beat the iphone in sales.. ever.

Gawd, I ALMOST wish taco were'nt permabanned from the site right now. I'd really love to see his crap reactions.
This even beat my expectations. I didnt expect a phone to beat the iphone until the SGS4 vs i5. Then again, Apple sales are TANKING compared to where they normally are at this point in time in the year vs older models.

42. Droid_X_Doug posted on 04 Sep 2012, 15:00 2 1

Any wonder why Apple sued Sammy?

45. Lwazi_N posted on 04 Sep 2012, 15:05

LOL didn't see you had already posted a similar comment

98. remixfa posted on 05 Sep 2012, 10:17

total coincidence, right? lol. especially since they amended the lawsuit to include the SGS3 after they won.. which is stupid since the jury didnt even find the SGS2 to be infringing.

"I'd really love to see his crap reactions."

Usual reaction - ignoring the facts.

62. TylerGrunter posted on 04 Sep 2012, 16:09

That may be true for the US, but not outside. The Samsung Galaxy SII managed to outsell the iphone 4 already in many countries and if I don´t remember wrong also in world sales for a quarter.
It just didn´t manage in the US because it got there quite late.

37. darac posted on 04 Sep 2012, 14:56 6 3

Okay, this is THE news that world has been waiting for..a single android phone outselling iPhone in USA.
If true, it is HUGE.
A landmark event that marks the start of the end for iPhone phenomenon.

Here's why - if S3 alone outsold iPhone inside its home turf bastion, what will it look lik
worldwide?
Iphone will bounce back briefly with the next release, but in the long run it just can't compete anymore.
Mark my words.
Q3:
Samsung~ 60m smartphones sold
Apple ~20m
Android:iPhone - ~ 110m:20m

43. Lwazi_N posted on 04 Sep 2012, 15:04 4 1

And you wonder why Apple has added the S3 to the list of devices they wish to get banned

46. verty posted on 04 Sep 2012, 15:08 3 2

Even this writer is biased! Is the article about the iphone or the fact that Samsung dusted the iphone in sales. You just wait the iphone will soon be igone. See how they are making a big deal of 4 inches when even Nokia has innovated beyond that. I love my Galaxy note to pieces(i.e very much) and no biased article from a bigotted apple fanboy on PA can change the fact that it is just a better phone.

48. hitmantb posted on 04 Sep 2012, 15:37 1

Sorry this is not possible. Michael Walkley of Canaccord Genuity, no name analyst and no name shop, come on now. It is obvious the guy is trying to steal hits.

The official record from earnings reports was 10 million of Galaxy S3's sold worldwide, 25 million iPhones. Now 3GS is not offered outside of US, and even 4 is rare outside of US, Apple gets very little sales from its low end products, even if they account for 50% of total units, It is clear 4S out-sold S3's.

51. hitmantb posted on 04 Sep 2012, 15:51 1

Also correction, I don't think 3GS is offered outside of AT&T, and should be a non-factor for iPhone's overall sales.

Anyway, reading the report, it clearly says ***August*** is the first month iPhone 4S lost the crown. That sounds much more plausible given iPhone 4S is not on T-Mobile, S3 being T-Mobile's only high end phone, and 5 is coming out in September.

79. willard12 posted on 04 Sep 2012, 18:41 1

When iPhone was only on AT&T it was outselling all smart phones. Now, it's on all carriers except T-Mobile plus prepaid carriers. It seems loss of market share is more of a trend in than they've multiplied their number of carriers since they were number 1.

52. Sniggly posted on 04 Sep 2012, 15:51

Sales slump for the iPhone or not, this didn't happen last year, so it's still pretty damn impressive.

57. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 04 Sep 2012, 16:02

All i have to away is so many people claimed that no other phone would ever out sell the iPhone.....ever.

58. Quezdagreat posted on 04 Sep 2012, 16:06 2 2

This is so stupid. Of course the galaxy 3 outsold iPhones last quarter. The galaxy just came out and the 4s is almost a year old. And everyone know another iPhone is coming soon
Thanks for pointing out the obvious Sherlock

75. jroc74 posted on 04 Sep 2012, 17:44 2

Recent article on PA about the iPhone gaining market share and Android losing. So somebody somewhere is buying the current iPhone(s).

Explain that one Sherlock.

77. Quezdagreat posted on 04 Sep 2012, 18:04 1

What's the name of the article and when was it published?

Both a few days ago.

81. Quezdagreat posted on 04 Sep 2012, 18:53 1 1

Dude those articles only proved my point. It only shows that iPhones sales improved from the first quarter. The market share for the iPhone is very low and of course Samsung is high with the release of the galaxy.

You would still have to add those other company together because they are android manufacturers. So that means apple only sold 14% of the market in the second quarter. 86% Is android and windows phone

82. jroc74 posted on 04 Sep 2012, 19:12 1

Dude...Aug 2012....was last week. Thats this quarter.

Jul 2012...was 2 months ago.

Last quarter was....Apr - Jun.

1 -3
4-6
7-9
10-12...are the quarters.

And last time I checked...a minus sigh = a minus sign. Thats a loss, right or wrong?

84. Quezdagreat posted on 04 Sep 2012, 19:41 1

Dude it doesn't matter because android still has a higher market share than iPhone. It doesn't matter if iPhone share increased, it is still much less than android

89. jroc74 posted on 04 Sep 2012, 20:31 1

Dude....isnt this article about quarters? Isnt the links I showed about quarters?

If Android lost some in a previous quarter....and iPhone rose some....doesnt that mean someone is buying iPhone(s)?

91. Quezdagreat posted on 04 Sep 2012, 20:46 1

Dude my post was about it is obvious that Samsung outsold iPhone in the third quarter.
the iPhone 4s came out in the third quarter of 2011 and the galaxy 3 just came out in the third quarter of 2012. Of course a big name 3 month old phone is going to outsell a 12 month iphone

92. jroc74 posted on 04 Sep 2012, 22:37 1

Right.....then how come recent WP phones arent outselling the iPhone? And dont try to tell me there are no big name WP phones...

Sometimes...ppl just need to give credit where credit is due. Any phone outselling the iPhone....at any time...is a big deal.

And last time I checked...a minus = a minus. The GS3 launched in May 2012. Did you check the links I posted? One has Samsung with -0.3 from Apr 2012 to July 2012. The iPhone with a 1.9 increase in that same time frame.

So the whole "new phone, of course it outsold the iPhone...." its a lil more to it than that. Remember...this is the iPhone we talking about.....the greatest phone ever created. Thats what I hear, anyway...

93. Quezdagreat posted on 04 Sep 2012, 23:48 1

ok when the September sales come out check back with me and tell me how much iphone market share increase, its at 16% right now. at the end of the month it may jump up to near 60%.

there is two big obvious thing why they outsold iphone: the new one about to come out and the iphone 4s is almost a YEAR OLD!!!!

Please check you articles again, they clearly show that windows phones are not selling more than iphones and not even blackberrys

So bottomline is Apple should be releasing a new device every 4 months (not 4 years) and it should be a "New Device" not a "Refurbished Device" ... what currently Apple seems to be doing more efficiently is is suing somone or the other every 4 months and to avoid bad press is also engaging services of other patent trolls ...http://techcrunch.com/2011/12/09/apple-made-a-deal-with-the-devil-no-worse-a-patent-troll/

87. Mitchel posted on 04 Sep 2012, 20:15

Well, that's good for Samsung. But the G-Note 2 is hot right now, i can see it breaking 10 million unit sales after the Holiday..

95. networkdood posted on 05 Sep 2012, 07:55 1

'Samsung isn’t likely to hold on to the title for long..'

Why not? The next iphone still will not be as good as the Galaxy S3.
