Samsung wants to know what makes Apple iPhone buyers tick

From the very first ad for the Samsung Galaxy S II that introduced us to the barista, it was obvious that Sammy had something special going on with these ads; and that very first ad introduced a put down line so glorious that Samsung later preserved it on a t-shirt which it gave away as a contest prize...

"they set up camera crews outside the Apple Store"
Makes it easier to copy, i guess.

I always found the idea of a hamster running on a wheel inside an Apple fanboy's head entertaining.

You realize samsung make most of the iphone's parts right? down to the processor dumb ass. Samsung was making phones way before apple. HOW DID THEY COPY WHEN THEY WERE FIRST
51. Trex95 (Posts: 689; Member since: 03 Mar 2013)
But Samsung the most. They even copy the wooden tables from Apple!

This is easy Sammy that they are dumb and can't use or handle anything else.

making fun of lines and then trying to figure how to get a line for itself - LMAO. Gotta feel bad for Poopsung. About time to invent something for the first time in the history of korea. Pleather - maybe?

You sound like a 13 yo. I'm an Apple fan (who appreciates technology and yes, I do think Apple is no longer innovative) , but I will never stand on that line for hours or days. If you know anything about business, you will know that you will always wanna know what makes your competitors and their consumers tick. This way, you will come up with a product/service or add something to your existing product/service to attract those consumers. It's amazing how we love technology here but understand nothing how how the business world works, which sometimes makes us look like idiots.

Most of the people are either employees of apple from cali or paid by Apple to have pal stand in line just so they can build a hype
34. Ninetysix (Posts: 1930; Member since: 08 Oct 2012)
You keep telling yourself that :) Maybe it'll eventually come true.

Lmao! +1 Ninetysix. They are all brainwashed to believe that. I laugh everytime I read when someone says that. Makes them look like an ignorant shëp.

It is true though! In what history in tech, that why would people line up for a 2 years old same design, outdated features, along with closed OS? Consumers ain't that dimwits! Even all of Songs products are much better than Apples products! Let alone in no history consumers have lined up for what, this garbage! Do you call this state of the art product? ™
52. Trex95 (Posts: 689; Member since: 03 Mar 2013)
Apple sold 8 Million Iphone 5S and Iphone 5c so the all buyer it's an Apple employees Lol.

remember people its samsungs chips and everything else that makes your simple stupid iphone
25. TheM16 (Posts: 80; Member since: 14 Aug 2013)
Apple designed it and Samsung made it ... so what's the problem?
All companies are giving and taking its just business.
I just hope you didn’t mean that Samsung is behind the whole A7 chip idea for Apple...
53. Trex95 (Posts: 689; Member since: 03 Mar 2013)
Samsung it's just manufacturing, Apple designed and architecture there Soc. Samsung manufacturing cellphones internal hardware for ages, even though Nokia, BB and Sony dealing with Samsung for there smart phones hardware, i remember when i used to own the nokia N900 4 yrs ago the whole phone made in Korea!
14. TheM16 (Posts: 80; Member since: 14 Aug 2013)
Wow how unprofessional LOL ... I still prefer buying their washing machines instead of their laggy cheap plastic phones.
19. amiaq (Posts: 503; Member since: 30 Jun 2012)
I ve got Samsung washing machine, it is even cleverer than your iphoney 5s

I have a Samsung Washer, Dryer, Refrigerator, Microwave, and Dishwasher. I love the WAsher and dryer. Awesome. But the Microwave has a short electrical line connecting to the door. It's a year old. The Dishwasher hasn't worked right since day one. It's not good. The refrigerator is OK. It's had a few problems. Nothing major but it should be better for it's cost.
I also have 3 Samsung TVs. All fantastic. Love them. But, I just bought a Sharp Aquos to replace one of them. It had a screen issue right out of the box. Once it's fixed/replaced we'll see if it was a good idea to move away from Samsung TVs or not. But, I'll lever buy another Samsung kitchen appliance.

Samsung should try to make good phones.. Features are not necessary. No one uses that... Good phones without cheating ( benchmark)
20. Bootutu (Posts: 213; Member since: 11 Jul 2013)
A lot of people use most of those features, stop consoling yourself cos iOS cannot do anything, sales says otherwise talking about good phones, and there's nothing like cheating in benchmark if you cared to educate yourself as other apps use the GPU in same speed. I pray iSh33ps learn better technologies than rely on bullsh*t marketing
21. willard12 (Posts: 1193; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
Since Samsung pretty much makes everything in the iphone except the apple logo, you're pretty much screwed. "Features are not necessary." Thanks for admitting that features don't matter....a grid of icons is all you need. That whole "IR blaster" remote control thing is a useless fad. I like walking up to the TV to change the channel...exercise.

The truth reveals it's ugly OS again i see. I just don't get the denial of ifans. Lol it's like you have to tie them down and compare devices and force them to see which is more functional.
39. nortoja79 (Posts: 34; Member since: 21 Feb 2010)
if that were the case, then no one would own an iphone and apple would be in the same boat as blackberry. Obviously your logic if flawed.
22. frydaexiii (Posts: 1403; Member since: 01 Dec 2011)
It's simple really...
For Samsung, out of their flagship phones (S & Note series) sold, I would say about 1/2 are being sold to ANDROID fans, fans who are loyal to Android but not to Samsung and are prepared to jump ship the moment you release a crappy device or one that just isn't worth our money. These fans (me included) are the least likely to line up outside the store and would rather either pre-order and wait for delivery, or wait for hype to die down so we can just walk into a shop and buy one.
Out of the other 1/2, about 1/2 are loyal to Samsung, and would buy their products as long as they feel it's still worth their money or they don't feel the competitors are giving them a better deal. A 1/4 would be new comers who bought it just because of hype or whatever reasons and the remaining 1/4 are the crazy fanboys who will line up outside the shop and buy whatever Samsung come up with, good or bad.
So in other words, Samsung only managed to secure about 1/8 of their overall customers that will line up outside the shop.
Apple on the other hand, about 1/2 are crazy fanboys who will buy whatever Apple comes up with without ever considering anything else, these are the fans who will line up outside the shop, out of the other 1/2, 1/4 are new comers who bought it for hype/bandwagoners, 3/4 are people who are loyal to Apple who bought it because they feel it's the best deal/invseted too much in the OS but are willing to consider jumping ship if the situation gets too bad.
So here Apple has already secured at least 1/2 their userbase to line up outside the shop when the new iWhatever gets released.

Agreed. Apple has the same effect on consumers that it's the hip thing to have same as any clothing brand that charges ridiculous prices so people feel they are part of the cool clique. I message and other apps that suck uses in only solidify their grip. Sammy fought that and converted a lot of apple users but as a wireless rep I see it every day. I've actually asked what's the difference between a smartphone and an iPhone. Ugh...
32. Ninetysix (Posts: 1930; Member since: 08 Oct 2012)
imessage sucks? What's so bad about it?
23. Dingy_cellar_dweller (Posts: 214; Member since: 16 Mar 2013)
Of course Samsung wants to know what makes apple customers tick. They hand over about a $1k and feel like they were lucky to get their phone.
26. bloodline (Posts: 704; Member since: 01 Dec 2011)
Its actually a great way to capture market data..if I were samsung I love to directly ask - why are you buying the iphone and not a samsung s4 ? what would like to see on the next samsung galaxy.
Such valuable info.

I know! I would much rather a company learn from it's competition and make a better product for me, the consumer, than say "this is the best way to do it" without batting an eye at it's competitors...
27. djHidroid (Posts: 9; Member since: 18 Sep 2013)
Apple is successful the same way and brand name clothing line is. It's digital jewelry and that's why every otterbox I carry at my store for the iPhone has a cutout on the back for the logo. Its all about a status symbol. Kids literally have told me that they get made fun of I'm school for having androids or Windows phones.

iPhone users are people that buy what they like, want, need. They buy based on prior knowledge, and being satisfied with their purchase. Like anyone else, they want a good dependable device, and good backing/support of that device. I've had nothing but good experience with apple, and great performance/dependability from my iPhones. My 5S is fast becoming what I thought it would, another rock solid offering from apple.

I wonder if Samsung's marketing budget would be better spent buying up competitor's phones so that the public couldn't actually buy them, then returning them so they had to be sold as refurbs? Though I guess that's anticompetitive and couldn't do it. Plus it might backfire as folks would think that being sold out means its popular, not that it's under-produced. Hmmmm...
37. Samsungadroidrules (Posts: 104; Member since: 28 Jul 2013)
Haha. As a Technical support agent from one the Carriers in U.S, i find Samsung Phones (S Series, Note series) As very useful and Innovative. Samsung Haters might say that those features are Gimmick, or not useful but for Million People who uses Samsung Flagship phones, THEY ACTUALLY WORK WELL AND USEFUL. To iPhones? Why would i Believe them, Apple is just Paying poor people to fall in line to their Store just to make a Hype. Jeez what's with that Outdated Finger print scanner? Haha. Updated camera? Then still 4 inch screen? and iFans would say those are innovative? Haha. i bet some iFans here are paid by Apple to. hahaha
38. Ninetysix (Posts: 1930; Member since: 08 Oct 2012)
You don't have to make it sound better. Just say you work at a call center. Jeez.
45. nortoja79 (Posts: 34; Member since: 21 Feb 2010)
Glorifying your minimum wage call center job as being an "expert on the matter" heh? lol...this is another example of why Iphone users have a higher average salary than droid users....Outdated fingerprint scanner? smh.

Simplicity and ease of use.
Seamless and easy to use backup and restore that puts everything back the way it was, ability to sync your music playlists and media content easier than anything else. (Being a Droid/WP guy, these two are huge for me personally)
Those are just a few.
