What was grand last year, is this year's flagship size, so Samsung just unveiled a Galaxy Grand successor, aptly named Galaxy Grand 2, which sports a higher resolution display, a quad-core processor, larger 2600 mAh battery, plus an additional half a gig of RAM, for a total of 1.5 GB...

What kind of Quad Core SoC that is running on it?

Hopefully not the damned Broadcom SoC. Their chips are among the worst performer in the market.

It's a fair phone if priced right. Obviously no one can compete with the Nexus pricing, but put that aside for the sake of the competition that wants to make a buck, this one is definitely well spec'd for a large-screen mid-ranger.

Oh and BTW the Galaxy Grand came out at 5" teasing what the next flagship might feel like in lower specs, and the S4 was indeed 5" itself. It's safe to say, with the S5 metal frame leaked, that this indicates a 5.25-5.3" FHD(+) screen for the next flagship.

One thing I admired about Samsung's engineer was their capability to increase the display without increasing the overall size/footprint of the device. But the frame that leaked the other day suggests the size of the device being much bigger even that the LG G2 with 5.2"
Leaked frame: 143.8 x 72.3mm (gsmarena)
LG G2: 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 mm
GS4: 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm
So, a increase in foot print of 6.35mm for a display increase of 7.2 x 2.5mm, from its predecessor. That's a bit of a bummer really. Hope the news is untrue :(

The same plastic, ugly, boring, cheap looking design from SAMSUNG 1000000th in a row.

Seems like aliases on tech forums are the only ones bothered by it, real ppl in the real world either buy it in masses or just don't give a damn.

Maybe cause when you enter a store 80% of the phones are Samsung so it gives Samsung a bigger chance for someone to choose a phone of it. Plus you got the guy who works there with a Galaxy S4 and you ask him what he thinks of the HTC ONE or The LG G2 and he starts telling you how amazing is Samsung cause of his personal opinion. And before all of that on half of the billboards you will see a Samsung phone so a simple user is kinda already cooked for a Samsung even though his initial goal was to get that nice shiny ONE.

So you are saying even if 'his initial goal was to get that nice shiny ONE' he went for GS4 because sales rep and few ads advertisement told so ? Why not try both the phone instore and judge for yourself. Sounds like an indecisive man to me.
BTW, average people want accessible battery, MicroSD, etc., they actually want a durable productive device not a 'shiny' phone jewellery which would be covered in a cover anyway :)

Don't forget the millions who bought the S2, S3, S4, Note 2 and Note 3 and recommend them wholeheartedly. Ppl. are not just rigged into buying them and feel cheated afterwards, these devices are among the highest user rated on this very site, with the Note 3's 9.9 score is the best ever on PhoneArena by far.
Samsung earned the position to have it's devices all over the place.

cheap plastic? but then 90% of all iphone users covered up their iphones with a plastic cased and you calling that cheap?

does an iphone has an exciting design? let me tell you since its first release up to now and still no change in design and its ugly, a lot of chippings, scratches

it's a low end budget phone if u don't want to spend more on a GALAXY NOTE III OR II. EQUIP WITH A LARGE BATTERY. the iPhone/ipad is what looks the same every year.

Is this a 720 p display? If priced like the first grand, this will be another hit from Samsung. Samsung really needs to do something about their designs, by giving their premium phones a distinct look. The other day when someone pointed at my S4 and asked if it was a galaxy grand, I was not amused.Lol!
