Samsung tweets the clearest Samsung Galaxy S 4 picture yet

0. phoneArena 11 Mar 2013, 22:08 posted on

A tweet directly from Samsung gives us the clearest picture yet of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S 4 and we can see the resemblance to the GT-I9502 which was leaked earlier on Monday; gone are the square corners seen in an earlier leak and on cases said to have been produced with the phone in mind and instead we have a similar design to the current model...

I hate how everyone hates on Sammy now, for supposedly "eliminating" everyone out of the competition. I for one adore a good competition. I Love sammy, though I also love LG, Nokia, and HTC. I wanna see them make incredible featuristic devices like Sammy does.

i myself also love competition but i just hate how samsung make their phones... they all look the same now! you'll be confuse about what are these galaxy phones now, they keep on releasing refurbish version of galaxy every month... like that galaxy grand, galaxy pop and a lot more!

so if samsung want to keep its galaxy phone relevant they need the s4 to be worthy the flagship.. stop that plastic and that design language coz it just made it look cheap! if they use plastic, they should have use the polycarbonate that nokia and HTC use on their devices...

Just because you are not smart enough to follow the GS1, GS2, and GS3, it doesn't mean everyone else is. All three have completely different design languages. And if you want to penalize them for the Note 2 and Note 8 looking like the GS3, two completely different categories, then you have a problem.

For example, the Xperia Z design is not old hat just because the Xperia ZL and Xperia Tablet Z share the same design language. They are different products and should be judged as such.

I agree. This was the only reason why I didn't buy the Galaxy SIII. I owned both Galaxy S and SII but SIII was just really bad build quality and bad plasticky feel. I was looking for the fastest android phones at the time. Now that JB is smooth and phones come with quad core cpus and 2GB rams, I only look forward to better build quality phones. That is why I went with the Nexus 4...and I am simply loving it.

I still like the Samsung exclusive features such as swipe to call/msg and all the new software features that came with GSIII but I'd rather have a phone with better build quality.

still looks very cheap and ugly... sony zperia z and htc one are the only best looking android flagship right now... the optimus g /g pro looks good as well...

and i really think that 5" phone is huge thats why i like what HTC did to one, sticking with the good old 4.7" which is still uge but at least comfortable and could still be called as a phone...

You do know that the HTC One is the same size as the DNA/Butterfly right? And you do know that the GS4 will most likely be smaller than the HTC One because it doesn't have the lame boom sound speaker taking up the entire bezel right? haha

I am pretty sure the GS4 will be thinner than 9.3 mm, unless they put in a 3300 mah battery. If they use the same 2300 mah battery as the HTC One, I wouldn't be totally shocked if it comes close to the 7.9 mm Xperia Z.

My money is on the GS4 being smaller overall, not in all dimensions, but overall.

I don't know why plastic is so bad. I look at my Note II and the front is glass and the back is plastic. It doesn't feel cheap at all to me. Yes the Droid Razrs have a premium feel to them but I feel Samsung phones are good enough and don't need a premium feel to be at the top because they're already at the top. All I care about is software, camera, and battery life.

although it really looks 98% like gs3 but it doesn't have much bezel as claimed. For me i don't care much about the phone's shape & design so far as it's acceptable & it has a superior hardware, beside being from samsung i'm sure there will be much karma on the software side too. THis phone will be 99% of the time in my pockets or in my hands so i won't be hanging it around my neck to show off. What i really care about the most is the battery life to power this beast.

Different design would be nice but oh well, let's not forget about the beast specs! 1080P SAMOLED screen, 2GB ram, 13 mp camera, new CPU, etc. I'm sold either way if it has those specs with Samsung's choice of Micro SD slot with removable battery

I don't think the people buying the Galaxy S phones are brainwashed. My theory is that the HTC and Xperia fans are trying to rationalize why their phones get stomped by the Galaxy series in sales.

Here is a hint. Um because people like them better than the garbage Sony and HTC puts out....

I don't see why everyone has their panties in a bunch. The s3 design wasn't bad so the fact that they didn't really change it too much isn't bad either. Everyone is complaining about cheap plastic but the same cheap plastic makes more sense than the metal and glass phones that dent and shatter when their dropped. People need to stop hating and give credit where credit is due.

I still refuse to believe that is the S IV. That bezel on the image is as thin as on the S III so there might be a trick here. The rendering is undetailed, no dotted patterns, even its earpiece and notification light aren't present. Besides, never did Samsung show off their upcoming phone ahead of its announcement. I don't know, I can feel something big and unexpected will happen at the Unpacked event. I'll just wait patiently. :))

after all this waiting only a hopeless fan would be okay with being fed what looks to be nearly the exact same thing that's been available for the past year. just as Apple's stock dropped when the 4S was announced i would expect the same to happen to Samsung if they announce this. it'll just prove Samsung has gotten too comfortable just as Apple has whereas other companies are willing to pull out the stops in design and software innovation to prove that they have what it takes to be the best. HTC, Motorola & Sony will certainly steal away people that were disappointed in getting a Galaxy SIII rehash. you can see that from this very comment section and in even in a recent study done on this site showing that people do want something that feels more premium than what Samsung has been giving us. Samsung should've listened to the people this time. they had little to lose, the Galaxy name now practically sells itself.

posted on 12 Mar 2013, 15:36

182. Taters (Posts: 2948; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)

And what if the people waiting didn't share your view and actually wants it to look like the GS3. I was personally glad that the 4s didn't look like the girly iPhone 5 when I was in Apples camp.

And if Samsung did all their market research from phone arena, they might end up as pathetic as HTC.

There are reasons other than marketing that make the Galaxy series successful and no amount of player hating will make your HTC or Sony the superior product that you believe it to be. Just like how the GS3 cleaned up the HTC One X in sales and reviews and phone of the year awards. Believe it or not, there are a lot of people that prefer the Galaxy series over the so called more premium and newer handsets. Just because they choose to purchase a GS4 it doesnt make them hopeless. There reasons are just as valid as yours.

What is hopeless is that you, a Samsung hater, believing that your opinion is law.

Here is a little something for the Samsung haters that completely destroys their theory that HTC and Sony products are superior but do not sell because of Samsung's marketing. If the sales of the GS3 are caused directly by marketing, then why did the GS3 get rated higher than the competition by almost every website and why did the GS3 win so many phone of the year awards when the One X and Xperia T won a grand total of zero? Samsung buying the entire internet and every website? Oh that's right! Because the cheap plastic phone that apparently looks old hat and too much like the GS2 is simply better than the HTC and Sony phones!
Amazing the double standards here. Samsung has to reinvent the wheel 4 times in a row while other companies have to do something different in 2013 only.

that's unlikely. Apple caught more heat than praise for rehashing the 4S even though it was of course a good iPhone it was also a lazy effort and most people called them out on it. only a naive person wouldn't see the "how will anyone know i upgraded?" jokes coming.

Phone Arena is just an example that was fresh in my mind. similar views are being shared across the web.

i didn't say the Galaxy SIII wasn't a good phone, i've had a Galaxy SIII so don't go calling me a Samsung hater in fact it's because of how good the Galaxy series is that people can have faith in a Galaxy device being a fantastic device regardless but it's no excuse for Samsung to pass off a device with little effort like that as the "next big thing" Samsung will have done exactly what they slammed Apple for. i can about promise you that the other companies will call Samsung out on it in their marketing campaigns.

Samsung may have the best rated devices now but what good is that in the long run if they refuse to even bother with fixing their shortcomings which yeah, there are shortcomings, if the Galaxy SIII was a perfect device then who would have even bothered with HTC, Motorola or Sony? why would i have a MAXX HD instead of a Galaxy SIII? why would i get a Galaxy SIV? they're inviting a gap close because if Samsung refuses to innovate then somebody else will.

right, of course they don't. yeah, that must be what it is. if i'm not with Samsung then i'm against them. that what you saying? i don't hate Samsung, i would hate the Galaxy SIV basically being an updated Galaxy SIII.

i don't know, look in forums and comment sections like this. just how different do you think other blogs are from PA? apparently not. Samsung's Plastic approach is the most complained about thing from their phones.
