Samsung trial evidence reveals Apple patting itself on the back for silent presence at events, studying the competition

0. phoneArena posted on 16 Aug 2012, 03:56

The latest of docs that reveal Apple is actually paying a lot of attention to what is going on in an industry it is in, or intends to conquer, is a confidential slideshow reporting the happenings at the 3GSM Congress Trade Show in 2007, before the iPhone is launched...

Apple was winning so they did not have to look too closely at what others were doing. But I think now SGS3 files are piling up somewhere at Cupertino.

These references seem to predate the iphone or relate to the original iteration.... LG Prada and Samsung F700 are clues. Explains why the iphone series was gradually made skinny though. Too bad they didn't figure out that hard sharp edges make for a "look and feel" that is unpleasant, and forces many owners to get cases for their device, negating the attempt at thinness

I find it funny that the iPhone isnt present....and the F700 and LG Prada is....

Coincidence? This alone should have Samsung in the clear for the home button and round corners....

They were clearly looking at the Android notification system.

"Meizu is Chinese electronics maker and first company to closely copy the look and feel of Apple’s iPhone"
Meizu... good luck

4. JC557 posted on 16 Aug 2012, 04:50 2

Considering that they only sell their phones in China it shouldn't be too bad. They do make pretty good MP3 players but everything else is meh, especially software-wise.

5. SGSatlantis posted on 16 Aug 2012, 04:54 1

Well in case they go global then, or decide to make an iPod Touch competitor.

6. JC557 posted on 16 Aug 2012, 05:08 2

I thought they already did make an iPod Touch competitor for the Chinese market? Either way it still wont see the light of day in the US...officially that is.

10. Aeires (unregistered) posted on 16 Aug 2012, 05:56 1

Apple wants desperately to own the Chinese market, attacking Meizu would be suicidal to that end.

11. roscuthiii posted on 16 Aug 2012, 07:12 5

Meizu won't hear from Apple unless they start becoming really profitable.

17. remixfa posted on 16 Aug 2012, 11:43

meizu wont hear from apple because they are a Chinese company. Good luck suing a Chinese company in china.

And yet Apple is trying to throw the kitchen sink at Samsung...lol.

They already tried to sue Meizu tho....and lost. And that may be why they are going so hard at Samsung. Thats why I have a lil hope for Samsung. Cuz the real iPhone copy is the phones made by Meizu.

Apple is the industry leader. Of course they look what Industry is doing, just to make sure they are behind enough. They have rarely been influenced by it, and when they did, they did it with using some common sense, not expensive market researches like others do.

9. anywherehome posted on 16 Aug 2012, 05:46

yes, Apple doesnt need even to think....he just knows what we need :-D

16. lyndon420 posted on 16 Aug 2012, 11:02 2

If apple builds it, you'll buy it.

19. anywherehome posted on 16 Aug 2012, 14:46

I keep myself right......so never a penny for rotten Apple, Microsoft, Intel ;)

12. roscuthiii posted on 16 Aug 2012, 07:13 4

Of course Apple was paying attention to their competitors... how else are this far into lawsuit-mania?

Apple loves contradiction.

18. speckledapple posted on 16 Aug 2012, 13:21 1

If I were a judge and I wanted someone to make their case by proving that their accusations are similar to what both do, this would be the way to do it. Smart moves.

Aha I knew Apple would pull some crap like that ! They copied the webOS wave launcher and Android notifications .
