Samsung was the leading smartphone manufacturer in China last year with three domestic firms ranked second through fourth. Those companies would be Lenovo, Huawei and Coolpad. Apple was fifth. With Xiaomi Red Rice on the table, Samsung and Apple will have a tough time serving up dessert in the Chinese market. Chinese People are not stupid, and for $130.00 with those specs, China Mobile ain't gonna help that much. o.O

It's not just specs at a cheap price that are the only consideration. It's the quality of that same hardware that count the most.

Do you really want a display with a lot of pixels, but poor efficiency, display calibration or brightness?

Or a camera with a lot of Megapixels, but terrible picture quality? Or some poor 8 core quality MediaTek processor that that applications will only utilize 1/2 cores of? Instead you're better off with a high quality and efficient quad-core processor. Let's lot forget software optimization efficiency for the best battery life.

Ultimately, for people who these aspects matter to, they're going to ideally go for the more premium and reliable option, you get what you pay for. Most of these Chinese brands can't match Samsung or even the slightly overpriced Apple.

Agreed. Samsung and Apple might have higher margins, if it's counted on production costs. However, they are much much better designed and optimized devices than Chinese ones, for example dual-core Samsung can match performance of 4 or 8-core Chinese one or even beat it, same thing with cameras, display quality (not resolution) quality of materials etc. Xiaomi and Oppo are great, quality manufacturers, though and especially Huawei and ZTE show some kind of hope, also.
