Samsung to enforce the use of original accessories only?

When you're as big as Samsung, you're bound to receive some slaps you didn't exactly deserve, and the Korean tech giant sure knows a thing or two about that...

This move is good so that it wont hurt poor customers who use fake batteries or chargers like apple for their lightning cable !

Yea follow Apple.
I thought the whole point was to standardize charging cables so you can use any and not have a draw full of different cables.

with each new device i buy (lately a 70$ 7" tablet for my 1 year old baby), it comes with a micro usb charger, but i never use this charger for my S4 or my wife's S3 because i know it "might" affect the battery life. So using only original chargers to all my devices would be smart and safe. And anyway the margin between an original and a fake one is like only 10-15$.

Well I think this is both a good and a bad idea. Its good because Samsung wont catch hell when someone's phone explodes because of some crap 3rd party battery. On the flip side its bad because Samsung will have a monopoly over accessories for its products which are overpriced. (The Samsung Protective case for my Galaxy S4 cost $35 and it should be like a $15 case)

The. Note 3 and S4 S-View covers cost $60 and should be $40 tops.

Agreed. I mean, for Apple, it's not like they actually had it standardized to begin with, so that was how they intended to do things from the very beginning. But this here, this would really give Sammy a bad reputation for switching things up the Apple way now.

Good choice Samsung. so now all these cheap bastards can't go to Walmart or Amazon & buy cheap chargers & then complain about their phone not holding charge like it should or battery malfunctions.

Nah, if sammy does this they will lose me as a customer. Especially since they have a locked BL on VZW. There really isn't a point to chose them over anyone else. This is a negative, not a positive. What they need to start doing is suing these people that claim samsung is at fault for a 3rd party screwup
