Just the other day, we showed you how Samsung was hinting at an announcement it will make at the upcoming CES, relating to its Exynos chips. Speculation has now arisen about what the announcement will cover. According to this rumor, the Samsung Exynos 6 will be presented. This is an octa-core SoC that will be used on the Samsung Galaxy S5, according to the report...

1.43times faster then 800, well thats not bad... what about LTE support in exynos Socs? I dont mind having exynos if its not laggy as I heard from different commenters on PA n gsmarena...

I don't know what hapenned to Samsung this year, they used to make some of the best if not the best SoCs out there, but this year there was no reason to pick Exynos over Snapdragon, with the Snapdragon offering of the GS4 offering 4G and better battery life, and on the Note 3 the 4K recording offered by the S800 also made it a no brainer between the two SoCs.

Well this is disappointing, SD805 is roughly 40% faster than SD800 and this is not their high end chip for 2014, they will have even more powerful chip for H2 2014 with 64bit support and will blow this away. I am not trolling but I was expecting alot more because this won't beat apple's A8

you are the only one that care about apple

A7 is not fast and A8 will not be either, just that it is powering relatively low resolution and light weight OS unlike higher resolutions of andriod manufacturers and heavy weight OS... apple's most specs are of a midranger.. if they'll put same specs and heavy os as of in sammy, htc, lg etc then I am sure their A7 will go on a long sleep

ummm... Sir, off-screen benchmark (1920 x 1080 but is not shown on the screen) says that Apple A7 is on par with SD800. Even at some cases A7 is faster than SD800. I'm not an Apple fan but the truth should be told
Here's the result from GFXBench:
GFXBench 2.7 T-Rex HD C24Z16 - Offscreen (1080p):
A7: 1504 Frames (26.9 Fps)
SD800: 1505 Frames (26.9 Fps)
GFXBench 2.7 T-Rex HD C24Z16 - Onscreen:
A7: 2311 Frames (41.3 Fps)
SD800: 1503 Frames (26.8 Fps)
Fill rate - Offscreen (1080p):
A7: 3464 MTexels/s
SD800: 1471 MTexels/s
Remember, A7 is still clocked at 1.3 GHz and SD800 is clocked at 2.3 GHz.

I agree with you that iOS is not as heavy as android and its multiprocessing capability isn't like android. But A7 chip is faster, because Apple designed it very well. 1 billion transistors is very huge for a mobile CPU, almost as much as today's PC CPU. Remember, Apple is experienced at making CPU and some of its employees are from AMD. Back in the day in the early 2000, Apple's PowerPC has ever beaten Intel Pentium 3 with its efficient design & L3 cache.

A7 is manufactured by samsung, if apple is so efficient in designing CPUs then samsung should be so efficient in manufacturing CPUs, if I consider your reasoning correct then I dont under stand why samsung is unable to make such an efficient soc for theirself? after all they are getting all the designs of apple and they have a plate form to learn

If S805 isnt going to be Qualcomms high end chip, then why would it be Samsungs? They have the chance to come up with a new octacore processor somewhere in Q3 I guess.

I like what I'm reading: 1.43 faster than Snapdragon 800.

Great news, it would be even better if the via update could update the software from Touchwiz making the 64-bit useful. I can only imagine the speed and performance the note would be king of smartphone and phablets, sense Samsung is always pushing specs to the limit.

Define 'true-octa core', afaik the 5410 & 5420 both have 8 physical cores on the same die. The 5410 may have had a broken CCI-400 but the 5420 is able to use the GTS scheduler if enabled in the Linux Kernel. It doesn't matter how the cores are used since the 3 big.LITTLE models will yield more or less the same level of performance in real life.
Oh and those AMD Bulldozer/Piledriver processors have only 4 physical cores that AMD advertises as 'modules'. if your logic is followed those processors would actually be quad cores.

The exynos 5420 lags because througout the UI, four weak A7 cores are doing the work while the A15 are idling and are used only in gaming and heavy multitasking.
Once fully flexible (heterogenous), the big.LITTLE will get a decisive performance uplift

I hate people who talk like they know what they are saying yet they don't. I own an exynos 5420 note 3. And my phone is always one power save mode yet never lags. Don't say what you don't know. The note 3 only stutters once in a while and that's only when you are installing an app and try to navigate the home screens. The exynos 5420 at 1.9ghz is equally as fast as an s800 clocked at 2.3ghz so Sammy has done a good job at improving on the 5410 that was in the s4. When all cores are enabled on the 5420 it will blow the s800 out of the water.

When all cores are enabled on the 5420 it will blow your note 3 ;)

correction : not "blow her/his note 3" but "burn his/her note 3"

Note 3 with exynos is sh*t just like cow dung .
My note 3 with snapdragon is more powerful and has LTE.
You must be not too smart to buy a exynos note 3

agree with you Twens ,the exynos 5420 which is in the galaxy note 3 is a lot better than the exynos5410 (in the galaxy s4 ) ,my note 3 never lags or stutters even when gaming the most graphical demanding games. and battery life is great too.
and i am pretty sure that the next exynos will be a monster with arm8 64bits octacore a57(for performance) and a53(for power efficiency) with HMP (heterogeneous multi-processing to enable all cores at the same time ) there is also the new widcon technology which reduce heating a lot.
and for the gpu there's (Mali-T678) which is the highest Mali-T600 series performance made by ARM to date .

My note 3 snapdragon runs circles around your exynos lag crap. You must be not too smart to cchoose a phone without LTE in 2013 . Snapdragon always runs faster and cooler. GS4 snapdragon has custom Roms support while GS4 octa it has nothing

My note 3 can record 4K videos , your can't .
You must be regretting right now

i truly could care less about samsung exynos processor , i bet the lg odin 64bit processor which is also going to be octo core will be first in the US galaxy 5 will most likely be a newer snapdragon and hopefully LG G3 will give the US what we want.
