not to invalidate your opinion... it is indeed possible. there are people that are still holding onto their upgrade eligibility that purchased phones in 2011, 2010 and the years before that.
Since Samsung has flooded the market; with at least 2 or 3 phones in every sized dimension 3.5 inch to 5.5 inches, phones beginning at $250- $700 retail and free to 299.99 on contract, Samsung has brand awareness and consumer mindset equal to Apple.
the article also didnt limit it to cell phones there is the note and tab series of tablets, that also doesnt include the Nexus 10 ( even though its sold by Google the parts that matter are provided by Samsung)
it can be done.

Samsung is selling very well because of Nokia's absence.
Nokia did not adopt Android.. This would be one of the fatal mistakes in the economics history.

Well that escalated quickly. No, like Elop says when Nokia (would of) entered the Android competition, Samsung was dominating (still is) and Elop believed Nokia didn't have enough resources, money and power to overtake or compete against Samsung. Also Nokia is trying to be unique by not choosing the Android platform which is used by everyone but Apple and Nokia. They are being hipster, lol.

Dear, I used to think like you and believed Elop. But now, I realized the truth.
Windows Phone is dead without Nokia.
Everyone bought WP because of the great Nokia's reputation.
If Nokia had adopted Android, few people would have cared about Galaxy, Nexus or Xperia.
Just do a survey, and ask how many would buy Nokia with Android ? just see the answers.
I asked 20 of my class mates that question and 18 of them told me they like Nokia and they left Nokia because Nokia does not have android phone, and they will surely buy Android Nokia phone.

It's all preference, supposedly analysts said Windows Phone will be the largest in 2016, that's possible. See how much Android exploded in the last three years? That's YOUR opinion, and I doubt people wouldn't of cared about Galaxy if Nokia was with Android, Samsung is huge right now.

Dream on !!!! mr Fanboy
Even Blackberry 10 is Outselling Wp in USA and the UK!!!!

Actually it didn't needed to adopt Android imo.
They could've stick with Symbian for cheaper and Meego for high end phones.
The ovi store had 50 000 apps at the time, and Meego was a better software than Android

It was a good choice to go with Windows. If lots of people go with Android. Google will be monopolizing the business. They will rule, Its good to have a competition. Now we have 4 way, Android to iOS to Windows to BB. Having live tiles is cool rather than the more common icons standard and some say generic. Wait and see after a few years, more dev. are sending new apps. it will pile up. and when that comes some people will go back to Nokia. 2016( @Timmehor), its not that far.

Yeah, totally, i'll just fly over to Finland and tell Elop to switch to Android. Totally. But Nokia have invested a LOT of money, time and development into Windows Phone, and they are doing well, not the best, but well. As I said, going for Android would make a *yawn* instead of daring to go with Windows Phone. I yearn for the day where there is a larger variety of mobile phone OS's.

It was a mistake for Nokia not adopting Android before. However, WP8 is gaining traction in a hurry, and it works much faster on low end devices than does Android, which should help Nokia to recapture some lost marketshare, especially in the developing world. Also, Samsung typically doesn't innovate very well, and the SG IV is living proof. It's fast, and a good quality device, but certainly nothing ground breaking or worth bragging about...

Completely not possible!!!
Maybe the Samsung become over-confidence. Sony and HTC will lauch their new phones with snapdragon 800 very soon and Nokia world is not too far away.
22. Xolar (Posts: 57; Member since: 02 Apr 2013)
impossible! phone companies nowadays are making innovations so that they can compete!
it will be around 100 million (not sure)
23. darac (Posts: 2156; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
Lol..Samsung was selling 120 million units per quarter, last year.
Around 60 percent of that were smartphones.
You are clueless
25. Xolar (Posts: 57; Member since: 02 Apr 2013)
this is just my opinion, don't take it so seriously
you're afraid that you're hero will fail this year
their are many great phones nowadays
28. darac (Posts: 2156; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
In fact I wish they drop a little, because resting on laurels is never good.
And competition is always good
24. xperiaDROID (Posts: 5404; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
Yup, but I must say "MAYBE" possible. Sony have already success of making their super gorgeous flagship smartphone, oh, and HTC too! But, why I said "MAYBE"? Because everyone is still loving Samsung Galaxy smartphones right? Just walk on the city and you can see most of the people using Samsung Galaxy.......Samsung Galaxy......
ALL HAIL SAMSUNG, WE HAVE BEEN BRAINWASHED BY SAMSUNG!
26. ebubekir26 (Posts: 311; Member since: 21 Dec 2012)
brainwashed ? no , Samsung just makes very good Smartphones,
27. xperiaDROID (Posts: 5404; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
"BRAINWASHED" is a joke, because everyone love Galaxy smartphones, so I called it "BRAINWASHED".
29. RaKithAPeiRiZ (Posts: 1345; Member since: 29 Dec 2011)
i agree ,for some reason some people don't see any other phones other than Samsung's and Apple's offerings
30. xperiaDROID (Posts: 5404; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
Yup, I think that you've also seen this before, every time Samsung and Apple stores are full of peoples, but HTC, Sony, BlackBerry stores are just...."empty".
32. timtimity (Posts: 196; Member since: 13 Aug 2012)
They've had one sale from me so only 499,999,999 to go.
