Samsung phone with a gargantuan screen leaks from its Polish R&D center
Those rumors about a Samsung handset with 5+" Super AMOLED HD display sporting the sweet 720x1280 pixels of resolution just got all the more credible after a leaked photo. The phone was rumored to be called Galaxy Q, but we already had one with this name announced officially, so it will probably grab a different title.

The picture is supposedly taken in the vicinity of Samsung's Research&Development Center in Warsaw, Poland, and the guy holding it in the metro or a bus appears to be handling a prototype, as evidenced by the yellow sticker on the frame. Samsung's website about the activities of this R&D center in Warsaw states: "Since the opening of a new Mobile Lab in June this year we also develop, customize and test for mobile phones software".

But the dimensions, oh, those dimensions! The device looks extremely thin, but even then it can't hide the fact that the screen is above and beyond anything we are used to even in the current 4"+ Android flagships. The tipster actually mentioned that the phone with the supersized screen seemed to be a member of Samsung's Galaxy Android line.

It will join the likes of Dell Streak, but, depending on how ergonomic Samsung has managed to craft it, it will probably be more successful, given that huge screen with alleged Super AMOLED HD technology. For now this leaked picture is also part of the rumor mill, but it shouldn't be too long before Samsung blows some brains out with its September 1 Unpacked event at the IFA 2011 Expo.

What do you all think, can you put such a display to good use as your daily phone?

and we kindly replied with a thumbs down. Because we disagree. Just get over it, nothing personal, just not our taste.

A big screen is always welcome and very useful, but there is a fine line when it comes to how big a phone you can carry around at all times and still manipulate entries with one hand..

Maybe Samsung should work on releasing those folding screens sooner rather than later..

Do you have some kind of infatuation with Bada? Nearly every single one of your comments relate to Bada even when its completely unrelated to the article.

its not the size of the screen that make the difference, its the size of the bezel.

that phone had physical buttons on the bottom though, so my guess is that its not an ICS phone. Kinda sad, if it was they coulda chopped off about a half inch or so on the bottom there.

"its not the size of the screen that make the difference, its the size of the bezel."

If you are going to have a phone of a certain size, you can't get a screen bigger than the size of the body.

But the manufacturers should start making the screens edge to edge to make bigger screens on smaller bodies.

thats the point. samsungs next gen tech.. the one supposedly in the galaxyS-3 is an edge to edge screen. measure your phone. If its a top tier phone the thing probably measures in the 4.5-5.5 inch range top to bottom..
Now imagine it being edge to edge screen. :)

its not the size of the screen as much as it is the size of the bezel. If you look at the LG GX2, that thing has probably over an inch of waisted space. That means the same size phone could hold a 5inch ++ screen if we could kill the bezel. And since ICS is going buttonless, it will go a long way to help that.

Hey I have a 4.3" screen, I think I would love a 5" 720p screen. I think for me, I would love a 5" screen since I am always on my phone. I am going to keep a close eye on this phone. If I don't have to carry a tablet & just use my 5" phone for everything, then it would be a win, win for me! Just by looking at the phone on the man’s hand, it doesn’t look like it would be uncomfortable for me in my hand. Plus I have big hands anyway.

I have an EVO too and I'm starting to get tired of this huge ass screen. They really need to make high end Android phones with 3.5-3.7" screens before everyone starts to get tired of their monster screens.

Thank you Samsung for pretty much all options when it comes to screen sizes.

5"+ is great for a PMP but for a phone I think the Hercules is the perfect size for me. Just wish it was full of HD and ICS.
