0. phoneArena posted on 02 Oct 2012, 01:46

Samsung officially added yesterday the iPhone 5 to the list of devices it claims Apple is infringing on its patents with. The Koreans say that Apple's latest handset violates two of their standard patents, and six feature patents...

Yes! :D

But why in 2014? In 2014 the iPhone 5 will become the free base model - and will be insignificant to Apple..

Ah well. At least Samsung will get all of it's lost revenue back and Apple will learn once and for all that if you mess with the best - you die like the rest. :D

"But why in 2014?"

That is how long it takes to get to trial. I am wondering why Sammy did not file with the ITC (much quicker decision timeframe with ITC)?

Because they didn't know apple was going to be a scumbag and sue the producer for it's A5/A 6 chips

Looks like the tables have turned!
Apple started a dangerous game and now Sammy is gonna finish it...with a BANG I might add :)

About time. I was expecting them to try to get a preliminary ban before it went on sale. Was very disappointed it's taken until now to add it to the list, and even longer for it to get reviewed.
Samsung needs a more aggressive legal team, as long as they do everything correct.

Samsung got in trouble for their pending Apple lawsuit by US regulators. I don't think this lawsuit is fair.

Wait, out of the hundreds of LTE patents Samsung owns, they could only find 8? I would consider 50 violations as a minimum...

3. himanish26 posted on 02 Oct 2012, 02:05 2 13

Only 8 patent violation...

It was said earlier that "Samsung has got the strongest LTE patent portfolio in the industry, holding a whopping 819 patents, nearly 13% of all the patents filed, and a lot of those were developed by Samsung itself."

And all the Samsung fanatics were excited that Sammy will crush, blah blah blah Apple. ROFL

Apple did good to avoid almost all of them.

Only 8... C'mon Samsung...

Awesome Job(s) Apple...

pay them before you'll sue them back, ok?

oh samsung, why you turn to be like apple now?

10. mas11 posted on 02 Oct 2012, 03:08 12

It's called self-defense. If someone robs you wouldn't you want to fight to get it back?

11. pikapowerize (banned) posted on 02 Oct 2012, 03:19 6

great point...

but actually this kind of idea will never end.. so giving up doesnt mean that you're a loser but forgiveness should be implemented!

they should just agree to each other! but this companies wont settle down..so i think it will never happen...

i just dont like why the trial is still on 2014... by that time, new iPhone are revealed!

i thought its faster to file in the US?

Its just a shame they can't call this a wash and end this bulls**t. Its hurting the consumer more than anything.

tell that to apple

22. remixfa posted on 02 Oct 2012, 07:51 7 1

Samsung is suing Apple as a defense mechanism, just like the rest of the industry. If you want the lawsuits to stop, the first thing you got to do is get Apple to stop being a patent troll and a litigation bully. These lawsuits never kicked into over drive until Apple decided litigation was better than innovation.

28. ZEUS.the.thunder.god posted on 02 Oct 2012, 08:40 1

Agree. only thing apple good at is marketing. Media is also to blame for portraying apple products as something from heavens. Even here on PA some authors never leave a chance to praise and defend apple.
but Google/Android is an unstoppable force. only the fittest will survive this race. only time will tell how far apple goes.

27. -box- posted on 02 Oct 2012, 08:39 1

The consumers don't seem affected, as there's not yet been any ban against the infringing apple devices. Same can't be said of hopefule Samsung shoppers though... HTC as well.

31. skymitch89 posted on 02 Oct 2012, 10:14 1

What I don't get is how it is possible for Apple to sue companies and get their trial to be within the next 6-12mons, but if someone else goes to sue Apple, they have to wait 1-2yrs for their trial.

33. darkkjedii posted on 02 Oct 2012, 11:10

Yankees/sox Samsung/apple hmmm oh well life goes on people.

37. ebunny89 posted on 02 Oct 2012, 16:53

People are forgetting that they are business'. No one wants to be the last one to pay out millions or billions. You want to get your money back. And, if you feel like you're being taken from then why wouldn't you want to get what's supposed to be paid to you? Apple will never stop because they're greedy. I think Samsung is doing the right thing here.

38. ebunny89 posted on 02 Oct 2012, 16:58

Also, I'd like to add that Apple is filing lawsuits just to slow down Samsung because they know they can't compete with the innovation and technology. That's why they turn to them to get their parts for their phones. And as far as their marketing goes, I saw a commercial from Apple that said, "How can something get bigger, yet smaller at the same time?" How many phones have grown in phone and screen size yet decreased in weight and thickness? Apple had a major fail on the iPhone 5 and these lawsuits. Even if nothing else happens for Samsung, they have to pay out $1billion to Apple. Samsung had wayyyy more revenue than that, and gained way more future stability by "copying" rounded corners and stupid patents that shouldn't be allowed to be patented. Small price to pay for a Giant like Samsung.

2014? The iPhone will have the 5s out by then! Be as long a my TV remote...lmao
