Samsung might have broken smartphone sales record, outsold Apple iPhones by 20 million in Q2?
0. phoneArena 17 Jul 2012, 02:09 posted on
Samsung might turn out to be the big winner in the second quarter of 2012, selling much more smartphones than Apple and beating Nokia in feature phone sales by an even wider margin…

Is there any wonder why Apple is trying to get sales bans enforced against Sammy? Sammy is the Pac-Man, coming and gobbling sales that would have gone to iDevices.

Because an Apple fanboy that has the grammar skills of a duck on LSD is normally one to "speak wisely."

IPhone 4S is almost a year old and still the sales target for other makers phones. Go apple. iPhone 5 will smash puny androids.
24. MeoCao (unregistered)
The strongest point of iPhone to Androids is always responsiveness, with JB that is gone while Android's advantages like multitasking remain intact. Apple is already looking for excuses why their next iPhone release will not be a big 1.
82. E.N. (Posts: 2578; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
multitasking is not Android's strongest point. I'd say its the customization of the homescreen. Multitasking on HTC devices now suck based on the fact that everything has to reload. Also, the removal of the a dedicated multitasking touch key on the SGIII was a bad move. Not only do you have to hold the home button for the multitasking window to pop up, but the process is pretty slow and clunky.....on the SGIII anyway.
83. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
yea.. your the first person to say "slow and clunky" and SGS3 in the same sentence.. and im 99% sure you dont own one.. much less have ever used one.
84. E.N. (Posts: 2578; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
Dude remixfa, I don't care if you believe me or not. Whether or not you like it, I owned a Galaxy SIII and returned it this past Saturday at my local UPS (even though I didn't need to go to UPS because the return shipping label that came with the phone is for US mail). This is not the first Android device I used, bro sorry to break it to you.
Slow and clunky referred specifically to the multitasking window, not to the phone itself. So are you telling me when you hold down the button for multitasking, all of the open applications appear simultaneously and immediately? That doesn't happen! and often they appear one after the other.
97. E.N. (Posts: 2578; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
Since none of you Android fanboys that owns an SIII in this site could step up to the plate and back me up (you guys are so great), I did a quick google search and found a video (thank you YouTube!!) that shows somewhat what I meant by "slow and clunky" multitasking.
If you look at the video starting at 2:20, you'll see what I mean by "slow and clunky." The holding down of the home button to switch between apps takes longer than it should, and sometimes (not all the time!!) the phone stutters even worse than in the video when loading all the running apps depending on whats running (not what I expected from the GSIII).
Its not a big deal when switching between one app, but if you're constantly switching back and forward between applications like I do sometimes, the wait is noticeable...and annoying!! They should have stuck with the dedicated key for multitasking like the nexus and one x.
I bought the GSIII, I really enjoyed the phone a lot, but ultimately didn't think that this was the phone that I wanted to switch to. A bigger screen size was very very much welcome, but it was just a little bit too big for my liking and like some of you already know, I wasn't too crazy about the design and build quality to begin with (I thought I'd get over it). So as of now, I'm waiting for either the iPhone 5 or the next flagship Android device/nexus.
Thank you guys again for calling me a liar. Douchebags....

Dude try out the ATRIX HD. Motoblur ICS is definitely better than Touchwiz . I doubt you will be disappointed.
99. PapaSmurf (Posts: 10208; Member since: 14 May 2012)
I have a GS3 and don't experience this "slow and clunky" experience that you are talking about. Never have and never will.
100. E.N. (Posts: 2578; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
well the video doesn't lie. We probably have different definitions for fast/slow and butter smooth/clunky.
85. Non_Sequitur (Posts: 1111; Member since: 16 Mar 2012)
Yeah, I've used a SGS3. Nothing about it is slow and clunky, I was actually really surprised with Touchwiz.
But you're right about HTC. They damn better fix that.
87. E.N. (Posts: 2578; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
If everything was perfectly smooth it would make "project butter" pretty pointless so....yeah. But I guess clunky is subjective and really depends on who's using it. I just didn't like how all the applications didn't immediately appear on screen after holding down the button. I'm sure someone out there knows what I mean, lol
But anyway my main point was that multitasking isn't Android's major selling point.

Without robust multitasking Google Now and powerful Notification system of JB are impossible. And that's why iOS cannot do what Android can.
95. RORYREVOLUTION (Posts: 3099; Member since: 12 Jan 2010)
An apple fanboy like yourself claiming to own an android phone, ha that's a good one. Trolls like you are typical, you pretend to own an android phone just to bash it and make claims to try to convince others to get the iPhone. Dude I got 50 apps running in the background and my SGS3 hasn't even stuttered once. You aren't fooling anyone but keep trying, its amusing seeing your troll posts.
96. E.N. (Posts: 2578; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
If you look through past articles, you can see for yourself how pissed I was when PA poste that the Galaxy SIII shipping was delayed. Im not a liar and I don't have to convince anyone of anything. I have the money and can buy as many phones as I like, contract free if I wanted. You can suck on it if you don't believe me. Its not that hard to buy a phone!!! Especially when you can get all your money back!! Ive done it before and if I see another phone that catches my eye, be it Android or ios, I WILL do it again. Moving on
And by the way, everything I post is pretty damn reasonable. You're the butthurt fanboy, so get over yourself
2. mas11 (Posts: 1034; Member since: 30 Mar 2012)
People are finally realizing you can get a better phone for the same price. Why get a phone with a small 3.5" screen when you could get a phone with a 4.8" HD screen for the same price?
7. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5993; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
You neglected to mention that the GS III has better specs all around. Like more RAM. Faster processing power. More future-proof than the iDevices. ICS + JB. And, and, and.
33. remtothemax (Posts: 254; Member since: 02 May 2012)
it also is a generation ahead of the iphone 4s
the iphone 4s is about to be mid tier'd in about two months
of course it is not going to measure up to samsung's flagship

one apple iphone 4s vs entire samsung phones? or samsung galaxy s3 vs iphone4s?.i want to see the results one on one.
8. Jimstar (Posts: 259; Member since: 24 Oct 2011)
Im an android fan but I can definitely agree to that.
20. nyuvo (Posts: 72; Member since: 10 May 2012)
Hopefully we will see it.
I'm sure samsung is going to have a good time bragging about their record sales figures. However just how much are 'High-end' devices such as galaxy nexus, galaxy s2, galaxy s3 etc.. Because lets face it, devices such as the Galaxy ace are really just insignificant imo.
27. jcpwn2004 (Posts: 314; Member since: 18 Jan 2012)
the article didn't specify only the 4s either...
I wouldn't be surprised if the gs3 outsold the 4s this quarter though. Iphone buyers are waiting for the next iphone and 4s is getting kinda out dated.
43. Non_Sequitur (Posts: 1111; Member since: 16 Mar 2012)
The 4S was outdated when it arrived on the market.
39. piyath (Posts: 152; Member since: 23 Mar 2012)
Quarterly results doesn't give sales numbers of a one device..
It says the performance of the vendor by It's whole smartphone sales.
4. zhypher_23 (Posts: 195; Member since: 04 Jun 2012)
Holy Cow, I'm proud of you Samsung :DD Apple this is gonna be your scariest opponent make sure your iPhone 5 (6th Gen) will have "the" sh*t :p
6. parvsingh05 (Posts: 98; Member since: 11 Jan 2012)
its because samsung sell phones in the price range of $36 - and so onn , what a shame it would have been if they were not ahead of apple in sales.
12. tedkord (Posts: 8295; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
My coworker's wife just picked up a 3gs for $0.99 on contract. The iPhone 4 is only $99.
And, the Galaxy S3 is as expensive as the iPhone, and its shattered presales records, and has been by far the biggest seller this quarter. Some your rationalizations are flawed.
37. jroc74 (Posts: 5726; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
The price argument doesnt fly anymore with the iPhone having cheaper prices now and still selling older models.
Just give Samsung credit where its due.....
10. andrew1953 (Posts: 176; Member since: 13 Nov 2011)
What this does is to confirm Apple's worst fears that people are losing interest in their over priced hardware and are looking to South Korea and Taiwan for better value in tough economic times.
29. remtothemax (Posts: 254; Member since: 02 May 2012)
or it confirms that when you launch your flag ship, it sells a lot in the first month
sort of like how the same thing is probably going to happen in the same quarter that apple launches the iphone 5/4g/whatever
sort of like how motorola, nokia, and htc will see similar bumps in sales when they release whatever they have coming next
also, sort of like how the first few weeks when a movie comes out, viewings are off the charts and then slowly peter off
do i need to come up with more logic for you? or is this enough?
11. andrew1953 (Posts: 176; Member since: 13 Nov 2011)
I expect that Apple are very worried that it will take them along to claw back this mass exodus from their rapidly shrinking customer base.

They're customer base is rapidly increasing. Try to live in reality please.

Ya Callate Taco, and eat your namesake ha ha jk.. but yeah really is that what you think. Ask yourself a question does it really matter to you whether consumers Buy Apple Samsung, or etc(Insert your favorite Brand or Flavored OS
25. tedkord (Posts: 8295; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
Just not nearly as fast as Samsung or Android in general.
92. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
Yes android sales are growing faster due to flooding the market with a bunch of devices. Mostly sub par cheap phones are the volume sales.
94. MeoCao (unregistered)
That's something they call "choice" man. And what Apple tries to force down our throats is that "iNoChoice". Well the next big improvement of iphone is 1 extra row of apps on screen so get cheerful.

When your product is readily available to all carriers, yeah I suspect you'll be selling well. Unlike the Nokia Lumia 900, exclusive only to ATT.
