0. phoneArena posted on 04 Sep 2008, 06:22

The FCC approved the i910, which may be the CDMA variant of the i900 OMNIA. If it comes to the States, it is expected to be offered with Verizon Wireless...

wow the "option" to purchase something to use wifi, how unlike Verizon. They are all about ripping their customers off and watering down their devices. Thats why I left!

If they do cripple the hardware it will not be VZW it will be the Manufacturer (Samsung) you idiot.

That's the dumbest things I've ever read, Verizon can't do anything to the hardware you retarded monkey...

samsung a990 for VZW - I have had it for 2+ years = 3.2 megapixel - killer pics.

VZ disables hardware features all the time. If you recall, when the RAZR came out, almost all bluetooth services were disabled. LGs had their MP3 support disabled, which had to be activated through the service menu, something a standard user should not have to access. Palms had the BT DUN disabled until a very nice individual provided a file to enable it. Let's not forget the most disgusting hardware crippling, VZ disabled the GPS on the HTC Titan (xv6800), which could be fixed by switching to a SPRINT rom. Now that WM 6.1 is out for it, you can get nagivator, oh wow, let me be all excited because they crippled the useful features that are included with my phone and want to charge me indefinitely for their poor excuse of a service. I wish the rest of the hardware manufacturers would get fed up with verizon running their name into the dirt and ditch them like Nokia did.

I must concur that Verizon does do that but they've been getting better at it. Look at the dare...the UI is much better and the camera was 3.2...the first by a major US carrier. They need to leave the Diamond and Touch Pro just as is though or else I'll be pissed of. The OMNIA is a very nice phone though. P.S. - # 7 just shut up, especially if you have nothing proper to sensical or legible to say about my network. lol

Umm first phone in the us to have a 3.2 megapixel camera, try again sir.

11. VZW Owns ALL (unregistered) posted on 04 Sep 2008, 16:05

People who bitch about VZW and their phones dont know anything about phones to begin with. Anything you turds can do on your Nokias N series phones I can do on my DARE. ANYTHING !!!! Learn how to actually use the phones before you bash them you mild retards. You massively FAIL at trying to act intelligent and show it by not knowing how to do SIMPLE things like change a UI ( I can change it on ANY PHONE VZW has), add apps ( I can put all apps on VZW phones and they are all free all the time )...I think VZW phones crush all, the users that know anything about the phones know we OWN all.

24. (unregistered) posted on 05 Sep 2008, 12:29

oh yeah? trying purchasing a sim card for your 8830 and using it over sea's....waiting....waiting....you can't. The point is you tard is that you have to reverse what verizon does to it for software most of the time, the water it down or lock certain features. WOW!!!! Congratulations you can change your UI!!!! The point is that you shouldn't have to!!! You can't change the processor in your diamond when you get it can you? Stop ripping on people, the point that some people are making is about the hardware to, not just the software you simpleton.

it'll be great with verizon. best service. they should add vcast music with rhapsody and vcast videos to their smartphones.

I really hope this comes to Sprint BIG TIME i will get it the first day it comes out and kill my Verizon line

25. (unregistered) posted on 05 Sep 2008, 16:37

It's an SCH-i910, not an SPH-i910. Difference? C= CDMA 800/1900 and P = PCS 1900. All SCH phones go to carriers who use both like Verizon while all SPH goes to PSC carriers like Sprint.

33. Evali (unregistered) posted on 08 Sep 2008, 10:29

Actually Sprint supports Tri Band CDMA but nice try though.

34. (unregistered) posted on 08 Sep 2008, 10:30

Sprint probably wont carry it due to it is only expected to be a 2g phone in the US

Just 2 things: When? and How much? Naw...forget "How much?" ...WHEN?

18. kdmorris777 (unregistered) posted on 05 Sep 2008, 01:02

Sorry, so excited I forgot my username. Hmmm...HTC Touch Pro or Samsung Omnia? What a delightfully wonderful dilemma I'm faced with! HTC Touch Pro or Samsung Omnia? ..... HTC Touch Pro or........Gee, isn't this great!

OMG. WiFi is a catch up device. It is used by inferior data networks to allow you online. It shackles you to a coffee shop. If you were on a GREAT data network like VERIZON, you would realize that you dont need WiFi like you do on ATT. Instead, they take out WiFi and do useful things like add more memory and enhance features to a 3g network, not an EDGE network

27. Dont need VZW (unregistered) posted on 06 Sep 2008, 11:14

I may not "need" WiFi... it's true. Yeah, WiFi access is limited to access points, but what if all I want to do is download stuff at home over the wireless network I've already got set up? versus pay an extra $50 a month for whatever "unlimited data services" would really mean to do it over VZW's network? Sure, I see the benefit to Verizon when they "take out WiFi". But I don't really plan to sign a contract for an extra $1200 just to benefit Verizon. Selling crippled hardware and charging extra to make up the difference doesn't undo "shackles" at all...

35. (unregistered) posted on 08 Sep 2008, 10:32

I would have to disagree on Verizons "great data network" Sprint has a far superior data network running at 3.5g as apposed to Verizons shakey 3g network. But come June non of it will matter with the launch of Xohm

29. (unregistered) posted on 06 Sep 2008, 18:03

I don't like VZW because it operates on CDMA bands, which means I can't use my unlocked oversea GSM phones. >_>
