Those Samsung fanatics at SamMobile are at it again with a new rumor about the possible announcement date of the Galaxy S IV. According to it, the much-anticipated handset will get unveiled on March 15, and will be released in early April...

One thing to note here is that Galaxy SIV is not going to launch before Google's I/O event which itself is scheduled in May. But keep the rumors on high as we all like it.

I never doubt Samsung when it comes to specs on their flagship. I can't wait for the new UI, features and innovation. And I hope the battery will last much much longer than S3.

Why do they always put embarrassing cameras in android phones? If I left it at that, the first thing someone will reply with, is that this new phone will have a 13MP camera. As if microscopic pixels that are intended to collect light is somehow better than larger ones.
I understand people are dumb, and to most, more MP is better, but common, the engineers know that isn't true, why not leave it to them, and install a larger sensor with fewer pixels that's actually usable...

Back to the camera: A Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 1/3.2 sensor with an f2.6 lens. This sensor is 57.91 smaller than a Full Frame camera sensor. i.e. to have the same image quality (per pixel) as say a 5D Mk III, the resolution of this size sensor would need to be: roughly 380 KP (0.38MP)
The New Galaxy Camera has a larger sensor (1/2.3) than the S3, so this would translate to: 31.81x smaller than a Full Frame. 690KP (0.69MP)
Optimizing the s3 camera for a 1080p (2MP screen) would translate to a 2MP camera that is 1/5th the image quality of a top end 5D III (per pixel)
Optimizing the galaxy cam camera for a 1080p (2MP screen) would translate to a 2MP camera that is 1/3rd the image quality of a top end 5D III (per pixel)
Now seriously here, what would you rather have? A 1080P image that is 1/3 to 1/5th the image quality as a cropped Pro camera, or a 8MP – 13MP – 16MP image that is ~1/50th the quality that needs to be re-scaled to even view it anyway? I mean seriously…
