No Chaoticrazor I don't thumb down Dark, cause he speaks, and posts of truth, some time I dissagree and give him a RED. You also speak of truth, with no bias and honesty, you're neutral towards everything, ile give credit where it's due. True I dislike Wp8™ not Nokia™

i think he might have a thing for you, this is all his way of flirting the smooth guy that he is

Well now. Good move, Samsung. The question then becomes: how much space CAN you free up while still maintaining the features? I predict that there's a lot of "waste" code in there that can be eliminated.

TouchWhiz is s**t....We always knew that...

So whats wrong with the S4 running stock android now that the samsung haters can't use touchwiz as an excuse anymore. No laggy softwar, no gimmicky features really all you have left is the thin piece of plastic that makes up being generous 20% of the exterior of the phone and can be replaced with metal for $5-$10.
15. giri555 (Posts: 111; Member since: 15 Mar 2012)
All "features" are gimmicky...S4 thumbs down..
Tell me how many of these features will 90% of users use?
69. Jason2k13 (Posts: 1148; Member since: 28 Mar 2013)
those gimmiky features are the future, it might be gimmiky now but there's always improvements in the future, trolls like you dont understand that.

When exactly did they say that user complains are worthless? I think that is the definition of sensationalist journalism. Fo shame PA...fo shame.

It should be 32 gigs minimum now!
89. HDShatter (Posts: 1021; Member since: 17 Jan 2013)
So when are the phone companies finally going to switch to 128gb/256gb phone solid state drives that get 500+MBps read and write. That would be some real innovation.

Samsung will not stop putting software in another level.
Again We should thank Samsung and LG for making phone SMARTER not just bumping hardware specs.. the hardware of every smartphone now are becoming very similar, so software is the key. Sto these gimmicks gimmicks comments. You can turn them off if you dont want
36. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
so why do apple get the heat when theres rumors of finger print scanners etc...isnt that also pushing tech
as for hardware becoming the same, this is true i said ages ago with android you will have 5 inch 13mp devices and hardly any real difference in performance....there will be bugs and lag etc expected from any device
but when the gimmicky features take up so much space there should be something in place where companies have to advertise the device not as a 16gb but a 9gb, goes for all
also turning them off defeats the point of buying it, like ive heard some have turned off s-vioce to stop the bit of lag but for the price you'd expect such a device to not need this step..........
im sure many will disagree and see this as an attack on samsung

Have to agree with you man!
People pay for the whole package. You can't just say turn it off if you don't want it... That don't do justice.
44. tedkord (Posts: 10257; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
Sure you can. My main TV has 2d to 3d conversion, I turn that off. My car has manumatic shift capability, its never used. My phone has vibrate and LED light alerts, all off.
I agree, with all cell phones, the amount of free storage available to the user should be given, and in the same base 2 that the OS reports it. And flash drives, hard drives, etc..
58. Nathan_ingx (Posts: 3607; Member since: 07 Mar 2012)
It's your TV, it's your car, your phone...and switching off or never using the features is your wish, depending on your comfortability. But my point is, you can't tell people to turn it off...people pay for, as i said, the 'entire' package.
42. tedkord (Posts: 10257; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
Apple isn't getting heat for adding a fingerprint scanner, people just don't want them (or their fans) claiming innovation for copying something Motorola did two years ago.
43. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
see you say there fans are claiming innovation yet its only the android fans that keep saying this....ohh and that mxy troll but his a troll and should be ignored
lets face facts, if the next nexus had finger print scanner no matter how you want to deny it many on here would suddenly praise the idea
46. tedkord (Posts: 10257; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
I don't dislike the idea. Also, I frequent many forums, and believe me, Apple fans are claiming its Apples innovation. Some because Apple bought the company the makes the fingerprint scanner that the Atrix used, so that makes it Apples innovation. PhoneArena has fewer rabid Apple fans than many sites.
Don't get me wrong, there are tards on both sides of the field.
77. taz89 (Posts: 2014; Member since: 03 May 2011)
Finger print scanner is nothing new in phones...the Motorola atrix had one so its not like apple are bringing a new feature to the table.
47. SonyFindOneDroidple (Posts: 773; Member since: 11 May 2013)
I dont know about those people.. i said in that specific apple news that it is actually cool..
Im aware of that storage issue and that is for all manufacturers.. 32GB should be the norm for all flagships
"Turning them off defeats the point of buying it"
I agree, this is the point for all who want the device yet hate the features. Another point, these are not just mere gimmicks. They have purposes, maybe not just for all. And the brightest point is-if you want to use that feature, you can turn it on rather that you really dont have the chance to have that feature..
Samsung rushed the software. But as i read androidcentral forums, the lags were fixed by the recent updates. :)

The LG Optimus G has the same problem, but the problem even it is bigger because the phone hasn't expandable memory through micro sd card. In 32GB of internal memory it has 25GB available for the user. There are other phones that in 32GB of internal memory, have about 30GB available.
62. freebee269 (Posts: 535; Member since: 10 Aug 2012)
thats the stock rom with 25gb. there's so many aosp roms for the lg optimus g now that flashing a 500mb rom gives the user alot more than 25gb.
83. lpratas (Posts: 244; Member since: 09 Nov 2011)
Perhaps LG has to remove functions of the software of the phone for increase the internal memory like Samsung will do.

Great job Samsung keep innovating. .unlike the other ones you give us something. .poor apple same old boring phone year after year lol!
54. skyguy7567 (Posts: 148; Member since: 17 Nov 2012)
At least Apple actually gives us storage space.
72. Jason2k13 (Posts: 1148; Member since: 28 Mar 2013)
$100 extra for 32gb? where i can buy a 64gb sd card for $40-50?
53. skyguy7567 (Posts: 148; Member since: 17 Nov 2012)
Samsung always trolls us. The best Samsung can do is to get you guys just 0.5 GB of freed space without deleting the touchwiz UI. Xperia IS THE BEST. SCREW SAMSUNG
56. KashAli (Posts: 105; Member since: 01 Apr 2013)
I only have only 9 GB memory on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (which is very annoying) and I paid fortune to get this smartphone Samsung please sort this out.
64. freebee269 (Posts: 535; Member since: 10 Aug 2012)
what i'm hoping for is samsung to make the google gs4 rom to be available for all gs4's, or a dev to pick up the rom and make it work for all gs4's. that will be a google only experience with drivers for the gs4 sensors. this should give alot of space back since it wont have the deeply integrated touchwizUI.
78. taz89 (Posts: 2014; Member since: 03 May 2011)
Am sure that will happen as the specs will be same so importing the stock ROM will not be difficult for xda as all the major work will be done for them all ready.
80. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
Samsung is now backtracking on their word because they listen to consumers?? Really because consumers have also asked for more premium materials and yet here we are in their 4th flagship and nothing yet… at his point Samsung will say anything to keep the sales momentum going..
82. skymitch89 (Posts: 1291; Member since: 05 Nov 2010)
Samsung can increase the user accessible storage by removing their special TouchWiz features and allowing users to download them separate. Like for STranslate, they could have the basic function to launch the app, but if a user wants to use it they'd have to download the additional required part of the app (and having each language aside from English as a separate download as well). Kind of like how some games used to be in the PlayStore. Download a 3-5MB file to get started, then once that's installed and opened the user is prompted to download another 200MB+ file(s) to run the game.
