What's so exciting about a fingerprint sensor? It seems that manufacturers are keen on adding it to their latest high end smartphone models; the unannounced HTC One Max was photographed with an icon that looks like a fingerprint. The Apple iPhone 5S has been rumored to have a fingerprint scanner ever since rumors started spreading about the phone...

i think that Apple invested more in that technology and that this sensor will have higher security level than Note III... they always put some technology in phone but it doesn't work as good as people expect

I recall the LG eXpo GW820 being the first really available cell coming out with a finger print scanner.

the samsung fans aren't calling this feature a gimmick in here like they did on the iphone fingerprint scan article...

I like the Guest mode idea, that was kinda my thing when we first started hearing about the whole fingerprint scanners. What about kids and spouses using the phone unless you can have more than 1 "approved" fingerprint, or a guest mode as it sounds they did here. Would love to be able to replace most or all usernames and passwords on the web with the scan of my finger. If it's only for unlocking the phone then there's really nothing special and is just a gimmick feature.
