The fifth iteration of Samsung's flagship Android handset was announced Monday in Barcelona as you surely know. Waiting for the new Samsung Galaxy S model to be unveiled has become an annual event anticipated as much as the yearly updating of the Apple iPhone. And my, has Sammy's little boy become all grown up! Why, the just unveiled Samsung Galaxy S5 even has an integrated fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor...

With the same progression, Galaxy S line will turn into the size of the Note... and Note will be huge :D

Samsung logic: The higher number are better.

The problem is haters find a reason to complain both ways.
Before the release all they were crying about was, why do we need 2k display for ? and now when samsung didn't put that in they're complaining S5 is not a worthy upgrade.
Also, they've put in a lot of features apart from numbers. My favourite being Ultra power saving mode.

I'm not a hater, I'm just dissapointed to Samsung. And that's only an opinion of mine. I also have one of their Galaxy product.

Just like what you're doing with Sony, you keep complaining LOL

I love Sony's Vaio and Walkman series and I respect'em for that (currently own Vaio Flip and Walkman nwz580) But they always manage to fk up their phones for some reason with either the bezels or display.
Being said that Z2 is looking pretty promising as it addresses both my problems except updates. Will wait for DisplayMate's review tho

I don't hate Samsung. I think they make great phones. But it's just funny to see the size progression :P I'm sure SGS line will stop getting bigger within the next few years and stay there. Samsung doesn't seem to bring much of fire power this MWC and a lot of people are disappointed, but no one realize we are at the point that new features are hard to come up with. All new phones are so powerful now and with tons of features, it's a great time to go back to improve the existing features and build of the phones. At the end of the day, most people just want a phone and not a computer.

We will use tables size galaxy s lines. Soon

The irony here is that people keep saying dumb things like this, but LG's G & Pro lines have bigger screens than the S & Note lines. Sony's lines are bigger as well, yet I don't hear anyone making those same comments. Find a better reason to hate because the one you're currently using makes no sense.

My overall impression of the GSV. In the immortal words of that horse from Ren & Stimpy "No sir, I dont like it."

The Galaxy S2 still have the best design in the Galaxy S line. I'm disappointed that Samsung screwed the design on the Galaxy S5, that back is just ugly.
5. Felix_Gatto (Posts: 632; Member since: 03 Jul 2013)
I agree with you, still the S2 design is nothing spectacular. The Wave I, II, and III is the best Samsung design so far, it can even rival the iPhone(4 & above) in terms of design and build quality.
16. xperiaDROID (banned) (Posts: 5629; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
Yeah, the Wave I, II and III are beautiful, so is the S2. Samsung needs to hire a new designer, their design is getting worse.
19. xperiaDROID (banned) (Posts: 5629; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
Oh, and did Samsung fired the designer who designed the Wave series and the S2? If they didn't, the design can't be getting worse right now.
25. aksa123 (Posts: 255; Member since: 30 Jan 2014)
Agree, the designs on wave series are much better than current galaxy s series.
41. Solun (Posts: 4; Member since: 18 Nov 2013)
Absolutely agreed, I actually bought the Wave because I loved how it looks although it didn't have really interesting operating system but still I had to choose between Galaxy Ace with Android and Samsung Wave with bada so if you look those up, the choice from the design point was obvious (every other phone looked like Ace that time). What I don't get is why Samsung abandoned that OS, it was brilliant at the beginning.

Samsung motto for its design. COPY AND PASTE :D
4. Sauce (unregistered)
Give us a review on the terriblly designed fingerprint sensor. I heard it's trash, and is near impossible to use it with one hand.
6. chunky1x (Posts: 263; Member since: 28 Mar 2010)
I'm quite underwhelmed with S5. Except for water resistance which I like but overall not much to like. I hope that Samsung fixed the pathetic audio chip of the S3 and S4. They always put their best audio chip in the Note series.
23. adjou (Posts: 102; Member since: 06 Jul 2010)
Before MWC 2014, most people on water resistances phones: "Water resistance is useless, it's not like you are going to drop your phone in the toilet on purpose!! :S"
After MWC 2014, : "OMG, WATER RESISTANCE IS LIKE THE BEST THING EVER, MUST BUY GALAXY S5NOWWWW."
27. chunky1x (Posts: 263; Member since: 28 Mar 2010)
It is a nice feature. For almost 4 months now I've wrapping my LG Optimus G Pro in Ziploc baggies when mountain biking. The thing that pisses me most is that it took a long time for waterproofing mainstream while Japan is enjoying their WATERPROOF(not water resistant but the real deal) phones for more than a decade.

I live in the nations capitol and I don't agree I lost 2 gs3's to thunderstorms water one still worked but water damage voided the warrantee
42. DnB925Art (Posts: 437; Member since: 23 May 2013)
Actually that's not the reason why the audio chip in the 3 and 4 are bad, it's because of the CPU that's used. Only the Exynos SOC has the Wolfson DAC, while the Snapdragon SOCs don't, which I believe is a Yamaha DAC. Even my old GS1 Epic 4G and Nexus S 4G had the Wolfson DAC.

Good try Sammy get these dummies money
12. michelhn (Posts: 3; Member since: 08 Oct 2013)
I guess the S3 is most beautiful among them, in terms of design.
14. rcl4444 (Posts: 38; Member since: 06 Oct 2012)
The Infographic is incorrect:
S2 was 8.5mm thick and 116gms. It's lighter (not heavier) than the S1 and I have both so I know.
S3 was 8.6mm & 133gms.
S4 is lighter again at 130gms. Feels very noticeably thinner and lighter than the S3.
Looks like they are trying to distract from how much larger and heavier they have made the S5. Very much a disappointing step with little justification for it. IP67?? The S4 active is not as significantly bigger than the S4 so that's not it. Fingerprint scanner - i5s has one and is even thinner and lighter than ever.
It's very ugly - where is this new design language that they're worldwide Execs met and came up with?? And those HUGE side bezels....my S3 and S2 have thinner side bezels!
So very disappointed by the S5 and Samsung. I have the S1, S2 & S3. I really like the S4 but decided to wait for the S5 expecting they might follow the evolution footsteps shown in the S4. How wrong I was.
I might find myself getting an S4 now over this, or I could well get the LG G2 successor or the HTC One successor. As much as I hate to say it they will both have far more going for them than the S5.

5s is not thin its a thick a$$ phone
37. PapaSmurf (Posts: 9056; Member since: 14 May 2012)
What the hell are you talking about? It's 7.6mm thin...

I think my Samsung ATIV S is better than Galaxy phones. It has better design, powerful battery, no lags, no bloatware :)
21. jibraihimi (Posts: 698; Member since: 29 Nov 2011)
Doesn't Samsung have any cash left to hire some good designers for its phone, or does all the designers don't want to work for Samsung......... Even small Chinese companies are making better designed phones than Samsung.......
24. chocowii (Posts: 349; Member since: 30 Jan 2014)
Where is the physical camera button? If its water proof then how can you shoot pictures underwater if the physical camera button is missing? Samsung never learned from Xperia Z's miatake. Another disappointment.
29. dmakun (Posts: 225; Member since: 06 Jun 2011)
Ok, when I saw the first images of the new S5 I was livid at just how uninspiring it was "design wise" but now I look at it again and read about the new feature sets it boasts then I find myself thinking, it's really not that bad. I have a note3 and the S5 doesn't bring enough to make me want it, however a galaxy S4 user will appreciate the step up this device brings to the galaxy S line.
It's still a very good upgrade. Although I wished the design language would have been bolder. It's a winning brand for Samsung and I can understand the fear of introducing drastic changes.
I'll be on the waiting list for the next "BIG" thing which to me is the galaxy note4

All these whining and bitching like a little ass child is pathetic, why do you all care when you wasn't going to buy the phone in the first place? I think you all just feel by bitching your pathetic lives will be better. Get another device if this one don't suites you
44. g2a5b0e (Posts: 2869; Member since: 08 Jun 2012)
It's completely pathetic & it's truly that simple. +1
35. Credo (Posts: 695; Member since: 19 Apr 2012)
I think the S4 has the best design of all of these ... S5 looks very unprofessional from the front, altrough i really like the back in blue ...
38. GeekMovement (Posts: 1573; Member since: 09 Sep 2011)
I agree, the S4 has the sleekest design with slim bezels and flat front glass panel and sides. Well, I guess the + with the S5 is being waterproof.

Its especially amazing considering that before the Galaxy 1, Samsung was all but unknown in Android land. They were probably more known for their Omnia line...thats Win Mo Omnia line.
It was all HTC and Motorola before the GS1 launched. I just wish Moto coulda capitalized on the success of the Droid 1 more. Having the Droid line exclusive to Verizon hurt Moto. And just not having more of a presence on other carriers until later.

I totally agree with your statement!! Samsung hit the jackpot with the Galaxy Series....................but they need to improve with their exterior design tho
