Samsung heads to the street to challenge the Apple iPhone with the Samsung GALAXY Note LTE

0. phoneArena 23 Feb 2012, 05:18 posted on

A real live Apple iPhone user is "jealous" and "embarrassed" as the Samsung GALAXY Note LTE can do things that her phone can't thanks to the S Pen that allows GALAXY Note LTE owners to edit pictures and do things that those using the iPhone can't do...

your connotation is wrong. Apple is breaking sales records because it has made 1 new device in 18 months. What do you think android's sales would be if it was just 1 device every 18 months? Android more than double's apple's sales world wide. What do u think the i4s's sales would be like if there was an option for an iOS with a 4 or 4.3 inch screen. Do you really think the little 3.5inch with a 2 year old design would stand a chance?
Apple is indeed setting single device sales records, but comparing that to an android handset is a misnomer. An android handset has 30 something other handsets to compete with if you want android. If you want a top end iOS phone, you have zero choice but to get the i4s.
All that, and samsung is still beating apple in the last 2 quarters, even with the i4s release, and even with having to compete within its own OS for sales.

I think you are still missing the point. Just give props for them breaking the records. Stop trying to find some excuse to downplay their accompllishment. Its that easy lol.

I agree. He can't do it because he's obsessed with hating apple. Apple is a powerhouse. They make one phone a year and it continues to dominate. Samsung is a awesome company, especially the TV department but give apple its props.

Question, why do you care so much about what Samsung does? BTW, Samsung is beating apple in the last 2 qtrs you say. Hmmm, they release a phone once a week, on every single carrier. Shouldn't they be beating apple. I wish Samsung would release one phone day and date with apple and see what happens. Samsung phones hold zero value. For instance the overhyped gs2 can be bought off Amazon or eBay for about $300. Good luck finding a iPhone 4 let alone a 4s for that amount. You get to emotional about a company you hold no interest in other than fanboyism.

oh, that old arguement. amazing when gallito tried the same thing i went to this magic place called ebay, and saw the average sale price of the sgs2 was about 30 bux higher than the i4s.. which is a newer phone.

quit talking out your butt and do research before u speak.

i hold no emotions for samsung, which is completely unlike you crazed isheap. samsung is a company that makes devices. for now, they are devices i want because they are the best around. i dont worship its owner, and i dont have a loyalty to them. and unlike iSheapies, when samsung steps in poop, i call them on it instead of giving them a pass because they make my phone.

Go look it up. IPhone 4s is going for 500 to 600.

600 is the full retail.

EBAY....

iphone 4s 16 gig
Used average price : 489.99

SGS2 i9100 16 gig
used average price : 559.99

I know you ibots have a hard time with math, but thats $70 higher price on the SGS2 which is nearly a year old at this point

And looking at the first page on the i4s used, most of them are going between 250-350.

Looking at the first page of the SGS2, most of them are going between 320 and 450.

I think this comparo that you did only tells half the truth. Compare the prices of unlocked versions and you will see the price dramatically changes. The unlocked status inflates the price on both models but you only gave us a comparo of a batch of ATT versions while the unlocked version for the GS2. I know this as a former ATT customer who purchased unlocked phones regularly. See the link below.

http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Apple-iPhone-4S-Latest-Model-16GB-Black-Unlocked-Smartphone-/109307465?_dmpt=Cell_Phones&_pcategid=9355&_pcatid=801&_trksid=p5360.c0.m2000019

Unlocked prices for iPhone far exceeds the SG2. New iPhone is at $759 and used is at $700.

what moron would pay for that? you can walk into an apple store and buy an unlocked one for 650 bux new.

Im talking what people in the US would pay, not someone in Brazil who gets massively over charged to where 700 bux would seem like a deal.

http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone/iphone4s

the first iphone4s unlocked on the list has 65 bids on it and is only going for $465 after so many bids. I really dont see your point.

Okay, then use the prices of the carrier branded phones for the SG2 then. Simple. If you are giving me the price of 1 device which is unlocked with an inflated price, why not for the other?

posted on 23 Feb 2012, 15:58 2

90. remixfa (Posts: 14179; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)

because the cost of the unlocked SGS2 is still less than its full retail. it is not "inflated" like the iphone4s price that you were trying to quote which was higher than what apple charges for a factory unlocked iphone. That and like i said, the next iphone bid that was about to expire had tons of bids and was only in the 400s, nowhere near the 700 that you tried to quote.

Both prices quoted were for unlocked phones to begin with. you are just trying to dilute the issue with inflated pricing that not a single person would pay in america.

@Tre-Nitty...I think you got down voted because you attacked not only the presentation, but the participants in the presentation. The Galaxy Note demonstrated featues that the iPhone could not, or does not have yet you discredit Samsung for implementing features in their product, and you discredit and disparage the young lady using the iphone.

This article is not about Apple breaking records; it is about a demonstration of features implemented in a product.

This video is totally dumb. The lady doesn't even try to do anything, she just opens her mouth and talks nonsense. And I agree with the term "casual smartphone user". I know tons of people who have iphones and samsung galaxy s2 just for being the top smartphone in the market, and not because of the features. As a matter of fact most of those people only use their smartphones to send whatsapp messages and check their facebook. THERE ARE casual smartphone users, and believe it or not, they have galaxy S2 too, not only iphones.
In this vid, the guy clearly is an advance smartphone user, so the duel is not valid. I would like to see some of the people "who gets in line to buy the iphone the first day" to be challenged by this guy. The result would've been totally different. But, then that would've ruin the whole spirit of the Samsung ad.

galaxy note ad was great...they should have shown that at the Superbowl..we need more ads like that from Android oems and none of the silly it has quad etc...people who care about specs are people like us who will do there research into a phone spec and dont need to be told by ads what the specs are where as the "normal" people just need to be shown what it can do and a reason to buy other than specs.

What most of you keep over and over failing to realize, is that not everyone is a power user. Not all need a super ( PHONE) . I myself use an Alienware M17x laptop. I play games and consider myself a power user. Think about it, how many people have a computer like mine compared to just going to Walmart and spending 4 or 500 dollars for a basic laptop. Would you say maybe millions of people? Why? Simplicity !

I would, that is how Microsoft Windows became so famous. A Mac computer was to confusing for the masses. The majority of people use Windows at work and it is simple for most to use after a short training period. They take that learning experience home and use it on the family computer and all is well.

This is the same experience the masses experience with the iphone, again just one reason, simplicity. If you do research, or read some, you will find most people just want a phone that works when they need it and maybe a few perks like check email or chat on Facebook. " Not root the phone or play with widgets."

So for power hungry Android Fans want to have quadruple this and that, more power to you. Stay with your Android system and let the masses have a phone they want. A simple, easy to use iphone that will last a long time and reatin it's resale value when it comes time to upgrade.

Oh, I have both systems. An iphone 4 and a samsung skyrocket galaxy 2. So I am not picking on either side.

Thank you for pointing this out... WELL SAID...

The thing is the people in here want to see Apple fall... you can feel their emotion in the way they word their comments.

There wont be any common ground with iSh$$p or DroidSh$$p, both will always see it one way...

its funny because there are A LOT of intellegent and well educated tech guys in here but plagued by hate and negativity.

I like the Galaxy Note and the iPhone 4S

this ad will effect and win over the people who own iphones that would love to perform those tasks... all other "casual users" dont give a care...

Good Job Samsung...

Very true. The iphone is simple to use and a pretty good gadget at that but the problem relies on i phone users bragging about how ios is better than android and that the iphone is better than android phones. If Iphone users would not go about it the wrong way there wouldn't be so many Iphone haters. Let's just be honest and call it how we see it. If all the Iphone power users could even begin to understand android they would not be talking $hit on every article that comes out and would definitely make the change. I also believe that users that find android too complicated should pick up an iphone to make their lives simple.
Im not an apple hater, actually I love my macbook, but i know im not the only one that hates it when someone pulls out an iphone thinking that the have the best phone on the planet when it actually in my opinion it would be top mid tier.

that was a good advertisement! what makes android a better pick against ios is that the platform gives what people would like to have accessibility ,hassle free and complete control to their phones. if there is an issue in android that has to be the malware issue hopefully it will be gone soon.

ios in the other hand makes the platform easy to use and uniform,. the safe feeling in downloading apps and the tons of apps. my only problem with ios is the compatibility with other devices it was too unified, and the interface is getting boring now a days. they also seems quite behind with the enhancement such as with the video. luckily they have a solid fan base. but too bad most of them are too narrow minded.

windows phone is yet to come their full evolution will be witness this year onwards the feel of it makes tells it all i also heard that this os will be doing a hybrid like ios and android in their windows 8 we will see they need to catch up faster...

Bull. By this logic,we are all only casual users of our own brains, since we don't use it to 100% of its capability. Apple got taken down then Android put it in a rear naked choke, where it was forced to tap out. Eat it,Apple. That's Droid-Jitsu for you!!!

Don't know if I agree with that "here in the states...Apple rules" line, but it does very well. But this isn't any desperate attempt at anything. This is a couple guys who have designed a test, to show off the Note's best features. Not really a test that compares the two feature by feature. If they were compared feature by feature, the iPhone would probably best any Android 6 out of 10. Ex: Better camera, fastest shutter speed, faster browser... But Android has more features. It can do a lot more than the iPhone can do. No matter how many iPhones are sold, how many records they break, or how simple and smooth the iOS user experience is... It will ALWAYS be second best as long as Android exist, and Steve Jobs knew it even if the iOS fans won't admit it!
