Samsung heads to the street to challenge the Apple iPhone with the Samsung GALAXY Note LTE
0. phoneArena 23 Feb 2012, 05:18 posted on
A real live Apple iPhone user is "jealous" and "embarrassed" as the Samsung GALAXY Note LTE can do things that her phone can't thanks to the S Pen that allows GALAXY Note LTE owners to edit pictures and do things that those using the iPhone can't do...

ah, i don't know..this all iphone comparison campaign seems way off.. the most striking fact about the Note is that it's HUGE.
It just can't compete for the usual iphone customers.
but for handheld multimedia-communication-entertainment-productivity, this device is also HUGE.
overall, the best thing you can put in your pocket

Although Note has S pen,how could the big Note be an alternative for comparatively small iPhone?
Samsung Galaxy SII could have been better alternative.
64. ghost__uwi (Posts: 175; Member since: 28 Nov 2011)
If it was the galaxy s2 or s3 versus the iphone I would lend my ears.
But when the galaxy note is as big as my face sorry no.
76. -box- (Posts: 3566; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
Nice thing abut using the Note is the fact that as it's so large it'd be easy for multiple people to see what's going on with the phone, versus the itty bitty one on the iphone. The S-Pen is a bonus

Wait wait wait wait wait Alan.
Did you just say "casual smartphone user"?
Have you ever heard of amateur chefs? of casual sportsmen? No?
What the hell is a "casual smartphone user"? If you got a smartphone - that means that you intend to use it to it's full potential - cause if you don't - you just wasted a lot of money on something you don't really need.
So that woman there - yes - she can't do the things that guy can. And that's because of the fact that she got an iPhone - and not an Android phone. Not because she is a "casual smartphone user". It's like saying that your team lost in football because they are "casual players".
Oh and Alan - contrary to what you say - Apple commercials have never displayed something that only the iPhone can do. And that - would be due to the fact that there is nothing that only the iPhone can do - and Android can't. Just fyi.
10. PAPINYC (Posts: 2044; Member since: 30 Jul 2011)
By saying 'casual smartphone user' he really meant all Apple iPhone end-users, who can ONLY use their phone casually when connected to wi-fi or when they briefly [VERY BRIEFLY] pull out their iPhones in public at parties or restaurants just to identiFy with the other sheep; hence, 'casual smartphone user'. It's almost like a compulsive tick that someone with a nervous diSorder might have; notwithstanding, it's an uncontrollable involuntAry act.

Actually I have heard of both terms. What he was doing was breaking down a particular category even further. As a matter of fact, the majority of smartphone users would probably be considered casual users. Very few actually use their phones to 25% of their true capability. This is true for both platforms. Many who might take an issue with the commercial have good reason. The guy really knows how to use his device and was a Power User while the chick was basically a novice. I understand why Samsung did this, I mean its advertising. Either way, the Note looks great and will find a great niche within the Android community.

true but apple claims they are the only ones every time lol and cliam they are first with everything.

@ ilia. So, you're basically saying don't buy a computer if you're not going to, or not able to use it like a geek or a Nasa engineer.
OR don't buy a Ferrari if you're not a pilot.
OR don't buy a $5000 guitar if you're not a pro player.
Don't waist your money, you're not worth that much, why buy it!
BTW I'm more and more liking Android phones, but I'm not good as you using all its potential, should I buy it or stick with a Motorola Razor (the old one, the flip phone)?
That make sense, thanks for the suggestion, I'll remember it.

If you have even a minimal understanding in economics - which I'm sure you do not - you will realize that buying a product without utilizing it's fullest potential - limits the utility you have from that product - and is thus a waste.
So yeah - better remember it buddy. For every product you own which you don't fully utilize - there is another - cheaper product - which you could own - and fully utilize it.
93. 14545 (Posts: 985; Member since: 22 Nov 2011)
You should have capitalized waste. I get the your, you're, and the there, their, they're mistakes, but really. Waist and waste? I'm not saying the others are excusable, but at minimum they are common. Most don't make the waist/waste mistake. Anyway, great posts.
98. cellphonator (Posts: 298; Member since: 29 Oct 2011)
Dear Ilia and 14545,
mwhahahahahahahahaha! You guys must be 25 years old, not each but together and your parents must be in the accounting business.
Let assume I have a minimal understanding in economics and in foreign languages (like english in my case, although speak and write almost correctly 4 languages), you're telling me that somebody that work his ass off all day, maybe putting up a business with sweat, blood and risking their own house have no right and PLEASURE to buy an expensive... what ever they want just because maybe they're not able to utilize it in its full potential? You guys are full of it, always with respect.
Go back to your Playstation and learn how to play every level of Super Mario otherwise you've WAISTed your money buying it.
....and when you're done playing have a taste of real life and re-read your posts.

If you're going to drive a Ferrari like a Toyota, why would you buy one? Your statement makes no sense. Unless you're buying it to be able to say "I drive a Ferrari"? Which, imo, most iProduct users do. Most would be just as well suited to a feature phone and save a buttload of money. And in my case, not cost me more money because of VZW having to pay out the butt to bring the phone to their network. I've seen the loss of many great perks since the iphone was brought over to VZW, such as NE2 going away, etc.
99. cellphonator (Posts: 298; Member since: 29 Oct 2011)
"If you're going to drive a Ferrari like a Toyota, why would you buy one?"
Are you serious or you're f***ing kidding me?
101. ilia1986 (unregistered)
He is serious. And so am I.
If you pay for a product - you are expected to utilize it to it's full capacity as much as possible. Because if you don't - you can buy a cheaper version of that product, and in the remaining money buy other products - which would increase your overall utility from the products you buy.
Of course when it comes to sports cars (oh and iPhones) - people spend stupid amounts of money just to show off.. in that case - they are absolutely stupid of course.
105. cellphonator (Posts: 298; Member since: 29 Oct 2011)
Cool! Thanks, I missed that until today.
3 + 5 = 8 - 2 = 6 That's so clear!
Enjoy your theory, in twenty years, when you experience some life, let's talk again.
95. iAndroid (Posts: 3; Member since: 31 Jan 2012)
Not everyone in the world knows how to use their smartphone.
To date I have educated over 500 customers on how to do things on their android phone.
I have met a galaxy S II user who has never registered for the android market.
There is an entire generation of "Casual" smartphone users.
It is not because they are stupid, or wasteful with their money,
it is because they got a smartphone for free and nobody told them what it could do.
I would fit these people with an iphone, but in all honesty they should be using windows phone mango.
Perhaps one day we will all be casual smartphone users because phones will just make sense.
Thank you for your time.
100. ilia1986 (unregistered)
Oh, they got a smartphone for free? Well - in that case my statement is not valid.
But hey - I live in a country where the only thing you get for free is traffic tickets from the police, so..
So yeah - if they got their phone for free - or paid for it the same price as for a feature phone - I take my words back. I just didn't know such things actually existed anywhere on the globe.

Samsung continues to look like a bitter ex. While they continue to try to discredit apple and prove their better, apple just keeps breaking records.
5. ilia1986 (unregistered)
Samsung has ALREADY proved it's better when it chose Android.
Sales records just show how Apple manipulates the hearts and minds of the public.
37. Tre-Nitty (Posts: 460; Member since: 16 Nov 2010)
Wow, how ignorant do you sound. So they've manipulated themselves into billions. You wouldn't? They have advertised and made awesome products. Samsung does the same thing dummy.
49. ilia1986 (unregistered)
I never said I wouldn't I just said that that's what happened. It's all a matter of marketing. That sets how well a product is going to be sold.
How well is the product actually going to be? Well - that's an entirely different thing.
72. atheisticemetic (Posts: 377; Member since: 18 Dec 2011)
ask that to the world in terms of how much money android is making....(and why the gov't didnt go with iphone)
now how ignorant do you sound? you're a trendy american with an iphone.
46. greathero1 (Posts: 443; Member since: 13 Jun 2008)
Manipulates the hearts and minds of the public? WTF lol?
14. remixfa (Posts: 13902; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
apple keeps breaking records because they are the only choice if you want iOS. If apple had 10 companies making iOS, they wouldnt even be a blip on the radar with that little phone. Samsung is beating Apple most quarters now, WITH all the extra competition on their side.
Keep holding on to that "1 phone sales" mantra as long as you can. It's all that you have. lol.
19. taz89 (Posts: 1948; Member since: 03 May 2011)
remix I have said the same thing to countless apples fan that the reason why a single android device will never reach the sales of an ios device is because if you want ios apple gets all the sales where as if you want Android the sales are shared between many poems but apparently to many apple fans our logic is flawed.
25. bucky (Posts: 1222; Member since: 30 Sep 2009)
Times have changed in the last year...there is nothing worse than trying to discuss phones with an android user. It seems the term "fanboy" has been taken to an all new level.
2 iphones are in fact, fighting an entire army of androids-98% of them are terrible as well. No matter which side you choose, Apple makes a great product. There has yet to be one android phone that even comes close to one apple phone. Thats the point they are making.
30. remixfa (Posts: 13902; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
learn to count
there are 3 main versions 3gs, 4, 4s for sale.. then you have all their different models.. the 8,16,32, and 64 gig versions.. and if you want to get really fun, then you have to double that for CDMA/GSM counterparts. And why not. They count the galaxy1 and galaxy2 as different phones on every carrier, why not do the same with apple phones?
Oh yea, because then u wouldnt be able to hold on to that silly sales mantra.
43. taz89 (Posts: 1948; Member since: 03 May 2011)
like i said its no point in trying to explain
77. -box- (Posts: 3566; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
To repost my findings from the other day, there are 43 iphone variants currently on sale in the US compared to 21 Galaxy phone series (from Galaxy S all the way to Galaxy Note & Skyrocket HD)
48. taz89 (Posts: 1948; Member since: 03 May 2011)
we are talking a bout sales of devices not market share of an os which are two different thing. the point is if you want an ios device you must get an apple device.if you want android you can get htc, moto, samsung etc there for its pretty much impossible for example like the s2 to get sales of 20+million in a single quater as not only are they fighting for smartphone market share they are also fighting for android market share.if samsung gs2 was the only android phone in 2011 then it would be selling much more but because an android user can pick htc.moto etc not all android sales go to one company where as with ios all sales goes to apple.IF apple were to allow others to use ios then they would have more market share but most likely sales of apple based ios device would probably decline as people could choose to have either have an ios product made by another oem...apple went for volume of sales where they get all the sales and google went for world wide market share and to achieve that they had to let many people use there os as possible. hope that makes sense.

Well... you can also screenschot a map with the iPhone, draw lines with a basic app and send it for FREE to another iDevice, so...
16. remixfa (Posts: 13902; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
you could edit it with a simple drawing app and send it off. I think the point was to show how easy it was on the Note. That and most sheeple couldnt think of doing all that.. as evidenced by this lady being completely stumped.
21. greathero1 (Posts: 443; Member since: 13 Jun 2008)
Wouldn't it just be easier for the other user to tap the search button and say "Navigate to (insert place)"? I am an Android user and would not want to waste my time drawing on a map when I can just use Navigation and in the iPhone's case Siri.
32. remixfa (Posts: 13902; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
yes, but he was sending it to a friend. and technically, your still right because u can do the "navigate to" and then just take the quick screen shot and send that off. lol. there really was no need to draw it. your correct. :)
38. greathero1 (Posts: 443; Member since: 13 Jun 2008)
There is nothing greater than Voice to Navigation on Android. Absolutely nothing!
66. remixfa (Posts: 13902; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
i dont know how people have lived without voice to nav and 3d navigation. people talk crap about googles voice commands because it doesnt give you a canned joke.. but what it has always given you is a lot of power in your hands.
7. SleepingOz (Posts: 2479; Member since: 22 Oct 2011)
The iphone is not even able to do simple task like sending files via bluetooth, now comparing it to that huge BEAST.. Well, no surprise here!
85. theBankRobber (Posts: 642; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
I send files, games and apps using Bluetooth and it works great.
8. Tre-Nitty (Posts: 460; Member since: 16 Nov 2010)
Btw this might be the dumbest video ever. She sounds so programmed and stupid. I carry multiple devices so I don't pick sides but this video is just dumb.
9. SleepingOz (Posts: 2479; Member since: 22 Oct 2011)
Well, she represents the majority of ios users.
52. greathero1 (Posts: 443; Member since: 13 Jun 2008)
No, how about you explain yourself instead of pulling a generalization out of your rear.
54. SleepingOz (Posts: 2479; Member since: 22 Oct 2011)
I'm not explaining anything to someone in denial 'coz no matter what imma say, you won't get a crap. It'd be a waste of time!
This video talks by itself, but may be you're too stupid to get it by yourself? If so, well too bad for you.. =]
82. greathero1 (Posts: 443; Member since: 13 Jun 2008)
He cant help himself. These dudes are so blinded by their hate for Apple that most of them don't actually sit back and pay attention to what they type.
80. greathero1 (Posts: 443; Member since: 13 Jun 2008)
Childish as usual. Seeing from how you comment, you are the only one who is stupid bro. Most smartphone users are just like her across all platforms. Seeing how Android is the largest platform in the world, I think it would be safe to say that they would have more just like her than any of the latter.
63. cellphonator (Posts: 298; Member since: 29 Oct 2011)
SleepingOz, she represents the majority of phone users. Get it? That's why easy is better and sells more.
35. ReturningToNokia (Posts: 130; Member since: 09 Jul 2011)
@Tre-Nitty...This young women does not sound programmed, nor stupid; she is sincerely embarrassed - be it that she is not aware that there are not any apps available for her to do the tasks that are demonstrated in this video, or that her device simply isn't capable, she is embarrassed; and she is impressed of what the other device (so what if it is a Samsung, it could have just as easily been a Windows Phone, or some other device) could do that the iPhone cannot.
Can the iPhone(with or without an app) do all of the tasks demonstrated by the Samsung Note? If not, then don't attack the young lady in the video, especially if most iPhone users aren't aware, or use, such features.
11. PAPINYC (Posts: 2044; Member since: 30 Jul 2011)
This video was shot in Manhattan but, it's a global phenomenon.
15. Jeradiah3 (Posts: 933; Member since: 11 Feb 2010)
The lady in the video felt embarassed by what the iPhone cant do compared to the Note and for good reason. This is one of the reasons why I really like this phone. Theres so much you can do with this phone and one of the few phones that you dont have get rid of within a year or so. As a former AT&T sales rep and cancellations rep, Ive seen so many people make frequent upgrades because as soon as they see something new, 6 months later here comes something else to top that................with the Note, there are nt alot of phones that can do what it can and its about time.
When I upgrade to the Note, i plan on keeping it for most if not all of my 2yr contract with AT&T because of what it can do: LTE connectivity, drawing capability, S-Pen, editing documents, update to ICS and many more. This is a phone worth getting and a better sell to the heavy Smartphone users than the Dell Streak (which we all know failed miserably lol)
