I really do!!!! But no the iPad......!

It really is,here in Europe Apple advertising is far less effective in influencing people, their are still some mindless ifan drones about but far less of them. Android having 68% and rising of the market share. Europeans like change, not just the same handset year after year from apple.
2 key factors in Europe also are that 2 year warranties in handsets are a legal obligations yet apple refuses to give anything more than one year, and also micro USB is the legal charger port only to be used and apple sticks fingers up at this also. This certainly influences peoples purchases in europe

its almost all bad news for apple these days. Cant say they dont deserve it.

How do you figure it's all bad news? I guess you're living in an alternate world where Apple does bad?
46. taz89 (Posts: 1895; Member since: 03 May 2011)
Its good news for both Apple and Samsung/android...

Apple retains 92% of customer and they say Apple doesnt cater to consumers.. right? I say doesnt cater to haters

Smaaaart boy Apple. Once your in iTunes buying songs and apps from app store, your stuck. So why would Apple user's look elsewhere....! These are the basic non jail-broken user's, other's would migrate, the smart one's.

There is actually something to that. My co-worker has commented in the past that he would really like to switch to an Android phone, but he's got so much money tied up in content from the app store that he doesn't want to repurchase.
He is very happy that it looks like the next iPhone will have a slightly bigger screen. The small screen was one of his major complaints.

Yup-per to being locked into the iEcosystem. A number of my co-workers are in the same boat. If they could have migrated their paid apps over to the RAZR at no charge (or a charge for a single migration app), they would be on the RAZR. But buying new apps on the Google Market/Play store is another $100 to $200 for them to eat. $100 to $200 isn't huge, but it is enough.

shrinking market share.. lack of innovation.. their only hope is to litigate competition out of the market. If their suite on samsung fails, they are pretty much DoA without major revisions.. and since we know what OS6 looks like, your gonna have to wait another year at least to see "major revisions".

as long as iphone maintain its price, samsung will easily become the smartphone leader in the world.
9. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 4579; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
In my opinion it is opposite, only unreasonably big price keeps iPhone popularity, because people thinks that if it is high priced then it is something premium, something that has a class, that it is some kind of 'elite' device and other bulls**t...
I think if Apple will cut off iPhone's price, then iPhone's artificially inflated popularity-fashion bubble will pop!
22. MeoCao (unregistered)
Haha clever man, you should be hired by Apple to replace Tim Cook.

I don't know if this rule 100% works in US because in US iPhone is cheaper than in most parts of Europe or Asia, but in Europe that rule works 100%.
For example in my country (all devices without any contract):
iPhone 4S (16GB) cost is: ~ 840 USD
Samsung Galaxy S III (16GB) cost is: ~ 782 USD
HTC One X cost is: ~ 696 USD
Is it normal? I guess NO!
34. thebest (Posts: 226; Member since: 08 Jul 2012)
actually, iphone is not very expensive in usa and many people buy unlocked iphones from usa and sell it in other countries, the iphones also don't lose their value like the android phones, they have the same price for a year and the android phones get cheaper pretty quickly so apple's pricing is good for the immigrants but in you country, even the htc one x is costlier than the US iphone.....where are you from? india?
37. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 4579; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
I'm from Lithuania ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L
ithuania) and similar situation is not only in my country, but almost in whole Europe.
44. thebest (Posts: 226; Member since: 08 Jul 2012)
its the similar situation in a few asian countries as well.....hong kong and usa get the cheapest iphones in the world and btw you can buy smartphones from usa through shipito, you can use their address and buy things from american websites and when the product arrives to their warehouse, they will ship it to you via fedex or dhl, you won't even need an american credit card, its like appointing a virtual cousin in the usa lolzzzz.....you need to buy more phones in order to save more money, my friends buy iphones together and save money in this manner.....you can get an iphone from usa, use it for many months and still sell it higher price, thanks to apple's pricing in your country
66. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 4579; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
I know that there is ability to buy over internet and safe a bit money, but i still don't wan't iPhone. :)
But the situation in Europe just proves how overpriced iPhone is.
80. TROLL (banned) (Posts: 4851; Member since: 13 Apr 2012)
Way overpriced midrange restricted phone.
82. thebest (Posts: 226; Member since: 08 Jul 2012)
i agree with you, $840 is too much for the 16gb version and the anticipation for the iphone 5 is also reducing the iphone sales in europe, after the iphone 5 releases, it will dominate the market once again and thats also a good time to get an android phone because the prices will be slashed after the iphone 5 releases
56. gallitoking (Posts: 4627; Member since: 17 May 2011)
thats what haters would say about the iphone... the 92% of happy consumer beg to differ..
69. thebest (Posts: 226; Member since: 08 Jul 2012)
actually, almost all the apple users are very happy and satisfied with apple's products, i think that's what matters the most, i agree with you
110. EclipseGSX (Posts: 1442; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
happy because they are stuck and don't know any better :)
124. gallitoking (Posts: 4627; Member since: 17 May 2011)
stuck really 92%... Android and their high specs phones will be close to 70% but on a positive spin... you guys have big screens.. and thats about it..
137. tedkord (Posts: 3778; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
What we have is choices. That's what iPhone users don't have. We also have access to the latest hardware (how's that 3g you got two years after the rest of us, now that we've been rocking LTE for nearly two years, you can hopefully have it this fall)
171. gallitoking (Posts: 4627; Member since: 17 May 2011)
I cant speak for everyone but choices is not what attracts to Apple.. for me was the smooth OS. is well polish smooth and for me has been lag free something I didn't have in Android.. everyone of the 92% has their own reasons that's is mine
133. andro. (Posts: 1926; Member since: 16 Sep 2011)
92% of a market share getting smaller and smaller everywhere except the US. The shift we've seen in store of iPhone users changing and upgrading to android is significant. Their are also are large percentage who would like to change from the iPhone larger due to the need for change from the same ui over and over however they have invested so much in apples locked down system with iTunes, apple propriety charger docks and car equipment that however as much as they desire to change they cannot as they cannot except losing so much of what they had to pay to use apples 'iPhone only' environment of software equipment and even chargers
18. TortillaSlap (Posts: 43; Member since: 05 Aug 2012)
that's also a misnomer. The highest selling Samsung models are the SGS2 and SGS3, both which have the same price as the iphone... and higher. That whole "well, its more expensive in europe" crap is just crap excuses. Depending on the carrier many phones are subsidized. The SGS3 launched at $700+ and still had 9 million pre orders.
28. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 4579; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
"The highest selling Samsung models are the SGS2 and SGS3, both which have the same price as the iphone... and higher."
Maybe only in US, look at my comment #27. ;)
33. MeoCao (unregistered)
I guess in US iPhone has bigger subsidy from carriers so it can sell at the same price as SG3. May be that's why carriers see iPhone as a necessary evil and often try to direct buyers' attention to other phones?
36. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 4579; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
I don't know, you see the prices I have provided in my comment #27 is without any contracts, just device price.
39. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
Galaxy phones are cheaper in Europe than an iPhone. Also the 9 million preorders were by retailers not customers.
51. taz89 (Posts: 1895; Member since: 03 May 2011)
Yes they were by retailers and carriers but am sure they were just ordering what there own pre-orders were...if there pre orders were low then they would not be ordering that many.also it was 9 million pre orders even before the phone was released and only recently they said they sold 10million. My guess is its doing very well..as for price of the galaxy compared to iPhone it really depends which country you are from...for example in the UK the s3 is £500+ same for the the 4s... please let's not start a fanboy war
55. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
The GSIII is already being discounted down almost 50% off in the US. Android is a cheaper product. That's just the way it is.
You should be telling your android buds not to start a fanboy war as this thread is troll comment after troll comment.
70. taz89 (Posts: 1895; Member since: 03 May 2011)
They are not my android buds...I could care less about android or ios...I just purchase what I think fits my needs etc...I've owned both iphones and galaxy phones and the galaxy phoned fit my need more than the iphones. Mainly because I can't stand iTunes..as for some carriers etc discounting the s3..its only in the us ...and its usually places like amazon and best buy who are competing with the likes of Verizon and at&t..as for sprint they are dying so they will do anything to get customers...

More like you Have to be rich to keep up with Android!
Tech. Specs. Are Android, a new high-end device every 6months.....!
143. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 4579; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
"Android is a cheaper product. That's just the way it is."
And in your opinion what is the reason that Android devices are cheaper than iPhone, talking about Galaxy S III, One X and other flagships ?
138. tedkord (Posts: 3778; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
Yes, I'm sure those phones are all sitting in retailer shelves. You are wrong, as usual.
98. Mizmo (Posts: 3; Member since: 06 Aug 2012)
@TortillaSlap: that might be true for the USA, i don't know, but here in europe SGSIII was cheaper on launch than iphone4s 8 months after it's release.
iphone 4s 16gb: 599€ (742$)
SGSIII: 510€ (632$)
HTC One X: 475€ (589$)
SGSIII/One X were both about 550€ at launch. prices for BeNeLux/Germany
112. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 4579; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
iPhone 4S (16GB) cost is: ~ 840 USD
Samsung Galaxy S III (16GB) cost is: ~ 782 USD
HTC One X cost is: ~ 696 USD
(All devices without any contracts)
189. s.mrabet (Posts: 117; Member since: 26 Oct 2011)
Not true, Mizmo
In Holland the sgs3 launched with a price tag of 640euros!

The real reason behind iPhone's increased market share in US is many more carriers sell it.
Android is winning even without the help of JB so we can see the iPhone downfall in the pipeline.
40. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
Will you admit how wrong you are when the iPhone 5 smashes sales records and brings ios market share to all time highs?
45. TROLL (banned) (Posts: 4851; Member since: 13 Apr 2012)
Weal wait and see, if it's the same design as the 4 it will be a fail, if it's different, await for the outcome!
101. Sackboy117 (Posts: 178; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
It cant fail because its simply that.
Like the next Call of Duty game for example, there are little specifics known about it yet millions of people will/already have pre-ordered it. Then everyones gonna complain about the overpowered weapons and stuff like MW3, but it sells like millions and millions every year.
And Battlefield 3 didn't really win that much of the CoD fans either.
118. TROLL (banned) (Posts: 4851; Member since: 13 Apr 2012)
Cool.... a green from me sackboy.
48. MeoCao (unregistered)
I will admit that if JB phones cannot increase Android's market share everywhere.
7. Berzerk000 (Posts: 3503; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
If Apple keeps making low/mid-range devices (comparitively), they need to sell them at low/mid-range prices. I mean really, why would anyone want to buy something, when there's a better option for the same price or cheaper? Unless you're fully integrated into iOS and don't have the time to integrate into other options, or you just prefer iOS, you won't.
