An unnamed Samsung executive confirms what we feared last night when the Korean manufacturer said that the Samsung Galaxy S III would be the first device with quad-core 1.4GHz Exynos processor under the hood; the executive said that in the U.S., a dual-core Qualcomm CPU will be used...

Where is remix??? he must be too sad to comment on the crapdragons. Well I for one have a hard time believing that samsung can't make a exynos captible with LTE for the US. Hopsefully by the time I upgrade next year all this crap will be worked out. I mean doesn't seem fair that I should pay premium price for a water down version.

I'll believe it when I see it. Ya know why? Because samsung in an OFFICIAL statement when showing off the chip months ago, said that they are using LTE with 4412 and 5250 as well as boosted production of the chips so they would never again have to play the chip switch out game.
Remember how before the i4s came out, everyone had "proof" of its bigger screen from real accessories and such? How did that turn out?
Im not getting worried about a rumor at the peak of rumor season where everyone has an "exclusive" rumor that turns out to be false. In a few days the official announcement will come and ill either cheer or cry depending on how THAT turns out.

I never thought Samsung would screw people like HTC and hype a phone only to bring an S4 to the table. I hope Motorola comes out with a giant killer and makes them both looks stupid after pulling something like this. Whelp looks like I have nothing to look forward to anymore lol

I don't know what the issue is?
The S4 will be the dual core A15 ARM architecture, which, based on current benchmarks from the HTC One S variant, pretty much holds its own against quad A9 ARM architecture, so.....
I honestly wouldn't be complaining about 28nm dual core A15 top of the line architecture vs 32nm quad 12months old A9 architecture :)

True, its not a cortex A15, but it uses the Krait cores which is better than existing A9 cores (including the Exynos cores). We know the S4 compares at least even, if not better, than the Tegra 3 but I believe the Exynos quad core will probably outperform it. The good news is the built-in LTE will mean battery life will be better and the S4 still isn't a slouch.

Hmm, yeah, you might be out of options until September when the quad-core S4 HTC phones are supposedly coming. Maybe Motorola can get its act together and release a phone to compete with the current generation. Maybe that Droid Razr HD will be coming with an amped up processor in tow. Unless Samsung can get Exynos processors to work with LTE networks, I can't see myself getting one: build quality trumps S-AMOLED HD, especially since S-LCD 2 looks pretty nifty anyways.

If by some miracle it DOES have 1080p resolution, I'd much rather get a 720p phone anyways, as 1080p is an unnecessary drain on the battery at a resolution indistinguishable from 720p by the human eye on a sub-5 inch screen. If the screen is 5 inches or larger, then I'd be interested...

well i know the problem is the Dual Core CPU in the US version, there is always the option to import the international version, which quadcore cpu is twice as fast as the dual core cpu from exynos and 20% less power consumption, that indeed is amazing how they can do that, and yes that information can be found here:http://www.androidcentral.com/

Seemingly same here.
My upgrade's already up, same processor, same ram, almost same screen size. Will root the phone either way.
Camera, build quality, and screen quality are the only factors that remain.
Build quality will either be a toss up or favor HTC,
Camera will probably have a slight edge for the SGS3,
and a Super AMOLED HD+ screen would be nice, but the Super-LCD2 can stand it's ground pretty well.
All in all, the possible advantages of the SGS3 aren't worth the extra wait for the phone to be released internationally, not to mention for Sprint in the states.
Can't be sure until May 3rd, but close to it.

Yea seriously. I mean I know the S4 is no chump, but still. I like the samsung interface 15x more than moto. It's just more fluid and user friendly I believe. If samsung's build quality steps up then I still could pick one up

T-Mobile doesn't have LTE. I don't understand why T-Mobile shouldn't get exynos.
I am really irritated by manufacturers placing importance of network speed capabilities over the device's actual performance. Looks like i'll attempt to import this baby if this is the case.

This has been brought up before in another article and I felt I should address it. If you remember, the T-Mobile version of the GSII had a Snapdragon processor in it. This was because while it may be true that T-Mobile doesn't have LTE, they do need a chipset that supports 42Mbps which the Exynos only supports 21Mbps. Therefore, the T-Mobile version would have the same chipset as other carriers because of this criteria.
EDIT: Unless Samsung addressed this issue by somehow updating their chipsets to support the higher Mbps, don't be surprised if the T-Mobile version has the same chipset offered on other carriers.

Also T-Mobile USA has plans in the future to switch to LTE and unfortunately T-Mobile doesn't have the subscriber base to create an entirely new production line that works just for their carrier, sad but true.

it actually doesnt require a "new product line".. which yea, it actually does get. Sensation and Amaze were Tmo only products. The mytouch line... sidekick.. ect.. All carriers get exclusives.
If they have corrected the HSPA+ 42mb with the exynos 4412, there is no reason they couldnt just use the international version. That would be super sweet.
If samsung was smart, they would have went pentaband with the phone like they did with the galaxy nexus.

EIther way, I feel you.. Apparently US carriers/companies think it's their job to tell us what we want.

No not more powerful thanks samsungs quad but it is more powerful than the tegra 3 which means.the s4 is not just another dual core CPU like last years and is infact able to hold its own against the 2012 quads and be more powerful than some quad which means people shouldn't be dismissig the s4 just because it's a "dual core"

Exactly. People just hate on the S4 because it's made by Qualcomm. Yet it holds its own and even out performs the quad core Tegra 3. The S4 is the highest performing dual-core on the market, even beating the Exynos in the GS2 that everybody loved and said there was no lag with. I'll admit, the S3 was one of the (if not the) least powerful dual core last year, but that was last year. Now it's the S4, and it goes against the quad-cores head on.

WTF SAMMY!?! And they insist on using Qualcomm GARBAGE in their phone, Dammit people MOTO makes the best radios! My RAZR 1 (not maxx) gets 2 to 2.5 days a charge, and its 4g, efficient enough for you? I'm tired of Carriers whining about 4g and then murder unlimited data plans, effectively making 4g useless, we'd rather have horsepower and connect to wifi

why not? apple could just release a quad core phone without LTE and use HSDPA+ coming out with their usual argument "LTE is too battery consuming" to deflect the criticism. it would mean that apple would still get the a quad core processor but still no LTE. Either way is going to have its ups and downs
