Samsung delays the Android 7 Nougat update for Galaxy S6 and S6 edge

Not long ago, we heard that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge could be updated to Android 7 Nougat before the end of February. As you may have noticed, we're now in March, but the update hasn't hit any of the two handsets.

According to Samsung UK, the update (for both the S6 and S6 edge) "has been delayed" because the company needs to further "review its quality." Apparently, at this moment, something's not quite right with Android Nougat on the Galaxy S6 family, so more work needs to be done. Samsung is "unable to confirm" when the update will be ready, but we hope the company manages to resolve this quickly.

Since the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are now 2 years old, Android Nougat is almost surely the last major update that they'll be getting. This should also be the case for the slightly newer Galaxy S6 edge+. Nevertheless, we assume that Samsung will continue to release security updates for the S6 family throughout 2017 ad beyond.
