Samsung captures a greater than 40% smartphone market share in the Netherlands
Over 40% of smartphone users in the Netherlands are sporting a model made by Samsung (40.5% to be precise). This is the result of a survey conducted by accounting firm Deloitte. The survey also asked for the brand of smartphone that each person had previously used, and 31% said that their previous smartphone also was a Samsung branded model. Apple is second in the survey, with 23% of the respondents saying that they currently use an iPhone. Apple's share has risen from the 15.7% that said they previously owned an Apple iPhone.

Nokia is third with 10% of those surveyed saying that they still own a smartphone made by the Finnish company. Microsoft bought Nokia two years ago, and by the terms of the transaction, cannot produce a new smartphone until 2016. Nokia's share has dropped in half from the 20% that used to own one of its intelligent handsets.

After Nokia comes HTC, with 5.3% of the market in the country, while Sony is the brand on 4.4% of the respondents' smartphones. At the bottom of the list is Huawei, as 3.8% of those surveyed use a smartphone made by the manufacturer.
