they better not screw up with the sgs3 since they set their own bars so high. Hey Mr.Charlie Kindel if android and sgs2 sucks so much how would you explain these sales?

Whole world is idiotic, only MS folks are smart and they all use WP7. 5....
True story...

That great news for ZTE and Huawei since they are going to take share from Samsung. It's sad that Samsung does the heavy lifting of creating new designs and markets ONLY to have low cost OEMs steal away Samsung's share in the next two years. Samsung knows that the OS (android) is free and there is nothing stopping ZTE or Huawei from using alternatives. Lastly, with Samsung adjudicated as a copyist, it gives fresh ammo for ZTE or Huawei as in if Samsung could do it, so can we!!

You can see it, if Samsung wants to charge $600 for a handset, the carrier counters by saying a comparable ZTE or Huawei handset would go for $500. If Samsung asks for $400, the mainland Chinese firms will be happy with $320. At the end of the day, Samsung just can't compete because they have minimum ROIC requirements while the mainland Chinese are happy as pigs in mud with razor thin margins. Samsung will have to surrender the lower end of the android market, and then the more share as these firm get more aggressive.

Oh yeah -- my "motorola" Triumph is really a huawei device with the motorola moniker. And huawei is already selling a handset with android 4.0.

Samsung, you need to watch your back -- you created the gameplans so others can use it.

9. Whateverman posted on 12 Dec 2011, 03:34 2 1

Yeah, they're doing a horrible job of competing right now! Instead of celebrating, what Samsung needs to do is just stop making phones altogether. Close up shop. And just allow ZTE and Huawei to take over the low and high end markets. :/

Dude, a simple "Good job Samsung" would have sufficed.

Android would never be where it is now without quality manufacturers like Samsung. Low end phones have been hurting Android more than they've been helping-plenty of people are switching to iPhones from Android because they've been buying low end phones that suck. If all Android phones were low end pieces of crap, then Android would have died out last year. It's not though, because of quality phones being put out. If ZTE and Huawei put out QUALITY phones at a low cost, then yes, they'll take over. However, if their current lineup is any indication, they'll settle for a low place on the totem pole.

People will buy the best quality they can at the price they can afford. This is a basic economic truth.

like normal, Dr Negative is here to spoil the party.

Sorry ardent, but i have yet to see a single person rushing into the store going "man i just have to have that new el cheapo huawei phone!" (and Tmobile does sell them).

You know what the vast vast majority of our android sales are??? SAMSUNG. They have the ultra high end (sgs2) covered, the middle high (SGS1) and the low (exhibit2) covered. You get better hardware and more value per dollar in each category by using a samsung. Concidering we have probably 15 android sets for sale + blackberry and wp7, and 60-70% of all smartphone sales are samsung, that should tell u something.

But of course, your not hearing it. your just spouting off baseless crap to try to scare people, because your sooooo frikkin negative.

26. The_Miz posted on 12 Dec 2011, 17:23

Negative, really? Really? Really? Negative because Samsung tends to make crap phones that have poor radios or negative because Samsung takes forever to update their phones? Take your pick.
