If you can't beat em, vow thermonuclear war on them! Steve jobs vowed thermonuclear war and it turns out to be patent missiles. Patents than never should be granted or awarded for thwarting technology and competition in a free, capitalistic America. iDisgusted >(

Patent missiles, that's the best you can do Apple? At least when Steve Jobs vowed to destroy Android, I think he meant it from the heart and from a technology perspective. These embarrassing, frivolous lawsuits are simply outrageous, egregious, preposterous and I cannot imagine even the herd backing these type of technology stunting lawsuits!

85. downphoenix posted on 04 Jul 2012, 11:58

Jobs authorized the lawsuits that Apple brought on others. In fact nearly all lawsuits in court now were authorized by him several months before. Im sure Jobs wanted to win purely by innovation and capability, but also understand that the way Google operates that it would have been nearly impossible to do it through these means alone, so the patent lawsuits were to at least hamper Google's efforts.

Obviously, Wall Street has really suffered with the Dow Jones being at 7800 on the last day of Bush and over 12500 today. But, I think you're on the wrong site. Here's a link to the site you're looking for....

oh ya and the private sector is "doing fine" am i right?

and all of those gains were due to wall street itself not obama's ridiculous policies..

74. remixfa posted on 04 Jul 2012, 08:33 3

in the 3rd year of Bush's term it was almost exactly the same 12000.. but back then, the dollar was worth more than it is today. It also climbed much higher than that until the housing bubble burst in 2008. A housing bill that was penned by democrats and just signed by bush who wasnt smart enough to read the thing. Who credited themselves with writing that bill? Pelosi, dodd, frank, ect. Oh and what lawyer was using public pressure and protest rallys to force banks to do sub prime lending because they refused to comply with the housing bill at first? Oh yea.. that would be Obama working with ACORN.. the now defunct voter fraud group.

its easy to make broad sweeping judgement with little fact. its much more fun to actually see what happened though.

And when you compare presidents. You compare them for the same term.

77. remixfa posted on 04 Jul 2012, 08:40 1

And if you want to get really specific. when was the biggest market crash of them all? When did we lose the most money? When Obama officially won the election. Wall street had a crap fit about that. The very tail end of 2008 into the beginning of 2009 was the biggest drop in recent memory and set the stock market back to its 1997 trading average. If you think elections dont affect the market, think again.

86. downphoenix posted on 04 Jul 2012, 12:07

Its funny that the stock did happen the way it did when Obama was elected, because he ended being just as friendly to them, if not more, than Bush was when he was in office. Obama has really dropped the ball on having wall street and the banks be held responsible for their reckless abandon that led us to the repression and housing bubble that we are still under.

Great. Now everyone who gets a Galaxy nexus in the US can't use search locally, thanks to Apple. :\

22. gallitoking posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:46 3 14

you mean on VRZ only.. on Sprint is not even a top 5 device...

42. ilia1986 posted on 04 Jul 2012, 01:24 8 1

It doesn't matter. A product is a product. And now it's owners have one less feature thanks to Apple.

58. gallitoking posted on 04 Jul 2012, 02:28 2 10

ohh if you dont have the feature is thanks to Samsung for copying...

73. Zayuh24 posted on 04 Jul 2012, 07:15 4

Your comments really piss me off for lack of better words...

One, how can you COPY common sense? If you ask for the weather, you expect the answer to be your local area FIRST without any kind of navigating to find it, right?

Most, if not all of Apple's patents are so much BS that I'm still curious how they were even awarded. The entire patent system is a dud.

88. groupsacc posted on 04 Jul 2012, 18:00

I think it's mostly the Patent Office's fault. Whoever granted the patent just doesn't know what s/he is doing and gives them out willy-nilly. Knowing this, Apple will submit multiple applications for essentially the same patent and hope at least one passes through, not to mention usage of some fancy words in the applications to make it look like they've actually come up with something with "flash of genius".

64. Otterbox (banned) posted on 04 Jul 2012, 02:36 2 6

Well thank Samsung for infringing on patents.

78. BREvenson posted on 04 Jul 2012, 09:48 4

How does Apple keep getting away with this garbage?

These are patents that are loosely defined yet strictly binding...patents for things that ANY smartphone would use as a standard feature. The patent system in this country is messed up, Apple is getting away with way too much...and the fact that this judge is completely on Apple's side does not help matters either.

At least other companies like Motorola, Nokia, etc. usually make settlements or demand reimbursement for others using their patents; Apple has to sue, sue, sue until the phone is off the market. Where's the professionalism in that? That doesn't make you look like a respectable company; that makes you look like a bully. A power-hungry, greedy, self-centered, ignorant bully.

It's gotten to the point where I don't even care if someone infringes on their patents. Apple stole their way to the top, and to see them go nuts with these lawsuits and injunctions for things that they never came up with in the first place (and act like they did) just makes me sick. Sooner or later, Apple's going to get theirs.

87. groupsacc posted on 04 Jul 2012, 17:56

If it's Google's Android workaround, it affects ALL devices.

4. mas11 posted on 03 Jul 2012, 22:57 8 1

Patent troll alert!!!

6. clevername posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:04 7 1

so how exactly will this effect voice commands without a connection?
also how did apple time this to take light away from 4.1? the judge chose when to deliver the verdict not apple.

either way i think frand needs some amendments to include more common use features so apple cant sue over every little thing. features that the user sees and that are obviously big sellers for an os should be protected. but not things that end users dont even see much less think of.

17. protozeloz posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:26 9 1

Specially when this is so old on android

65. jroc74 posted on 04 Jul 2012, 02:38

Exactly....

I also just thought of something.....how come Google Desktop doesnt help them in this case? Didnt Apple get a patent for something that applied to desktop PC's and it was applied to phones?

How come prior art always seems to get overlooked in Apple cases?!?!?

76. remixfa posted on 04 Jul 2012, 08:37 1

i was wondering the same thing. universal search has been on android since the beginning. When did apple get it? If its such a "big patent" why didnt they pull it out first when android was still just gaining steam and they started suing?

More BS. I think like 90% of what everyone is suing over these days needs to go to FRAND. It's complete BS. And we need to have a class of judges that are specifically trained in tech and patents to handle this stuff.

7. frydaexiii posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:04 18 1

This is what is great about companies like Google and Samsung, they take it in their stride even when wrongfully accused instead of whining and taking it out on other companies. Being a true innovative company, you have tons of workarounds.

"Oh, the Galaxy Tab's corners too squarish for you?" Galaxy Tab 10.1N, Fixed.

"Oh, we can't use bounce in our OS?" Blue edge glow, Fixed.

"Oh, we can't use rectangle folders?" Circle folders. Fixed.

Now imagine if Apple were in their shoes.

"What do you mean we can't use that notification bar? But there's no other way to implement or edit it, that should be a FRAND!" Problem not fixed, move on to sue other companies.

9. Sackboy117 posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:07 5

They can have a notification bar that slides from the bottom :)

21. frydaexiii posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:45 7

Honeycomb and ICS Tablets already use that.

24. gallitoking posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:49 2 23

yes but nobody has Android tablets... so

39. mas11 posted on 04 Jul 2012, 00:43 6 1

If that's true then why is Apple spending millions trying to get the Galaxy Tab banned?

40. gallitoking posted on 04 Jul 2012, 00:51 1 8

well because if they choose to get money for every device sold.. then Apple will really be screwed. 10.00 dont as far as it just to be

52. otarusan posted on 04 Jul 2012, 02:22 2 1

MIcrosoft owns 35% of Apple, MS is Apples largest share holder... guess what... they make money of iDevice sold and 10 dollars out of every Android sold... That's how you do business Grandfather style, get paid by all the big players but never have to lift a finger or get blamed. Apple steal from everyone, hell they are still sour Apples after Bill Gates pawned Steve Jobs like a little girl but hey ofcourse Apple can complain, after what Apple did to Xerox it is only logical for them to think they had dibs at ripping companies off. I read somewhere (maybe on a previous post) that Steve Jobs may have meant he was going to destroy Android by putting untouchable technology to kick ass and not this ridiculous constant lawsuit, hell who know I would preferred to think that's what he meant cause it would have made them at least more honorable but apparently the new regime took things down a different path. I am liking Apple less and less, anyways I don't feel like paying for constant outdated technology and for a silver emblem that means nothing to me.

Actually you can't pick and choose what FRAND. That's decided by regulatory agency. But there's no point in explaining to you since you're very ignorant of patents and why certain ones be one FRAND.

51. frydaexiii posted on 04 Jul 2012, 02:20 2 1

8. protozeloz posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:06 3 1

its good to note that Google would aiming to try and get the patent invalidated, its why the jumped into this war and well they sure have things on search...

11. techman01 posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:18 2 1

apple wouldnt u want to have competition and see who should be at the top of the market.
Yes what samsung did was wrong and u shouldnt copy but ban the whole product really and what samsung did wasnt realy coping in the fisrt place why do u get scared and go on a banning spree as soon as u lose your like a little kid apple grow up and learn to compete then you might start getting sales alright learn to compete.

45. taco50 (banned) posted on 04 Jul 2012, 01:55 1 5

Might start getting sales? Apple dominates the smartphone industry in sales.

Really you don't know the iPhone is the top selling smartphone in the world and Apple has 80% of smartphone industry profits? I really need to link that for you?

67. Non_Sequitur posted on 04 Jul 2012, 04:28 1 1

It's not THAT huge of a number, but it's at least 40%.
Poor sheep.

72. frydaexiii posted on 04 Jul 2012, 05:44

Yes, link it. Show me the link that says Apple has 80% of smartphone profits.

81. jroc74 posted on 04 Jul 2012, 11:41

So far...just doing quick searches...I see:

Apple...AND Android own 80% marketshare...combined.

Apple had 80% of the profits ...in Q4 of last year...it went up each quarter.

As usual....iFans and their distortion reality field.....lol. We are into the beginning of the 3rd quarter of this year now....wonder if its still 80%?

Besides.....isnt Apple always gonna be tops in profits vs. Android? Based on how they do business and they basically control the hardware AND software? Sometimes....I wish there was only 1 Android phone......so we could see some real apples to apples comparisons once n for all.

again lulz im rooted jellybean rommed on a vzw nexus. Its a workaround without the dumbing down of the system lulz

14. techman01 posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:24 2

also i dont hate apple i love the ipod touch but apple your starting to get me mad be trying to eliminate the competion really i love competion i helps you get pumped and do better with no competion you get laid back relax and you dont strive to do the best i like both apple and samsung and dont have a bias yes android is better to me but strive to do better care for the consumer there first without them your nothing but a fruit name.

15. readingthissh1t posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:25 1

i didnt mean dumbing down of the system, rather limiting your search to the web*

16. techman01 posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:26 1

cool u must be a dev

18. Sniggly posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:27 7 1

Not that I use the feature personally, but this is a d**k move by Apple. I mean, how can they possibly prove that they've lost sales because Google has unified search on Android?

23. frydaexiii posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:47 8 1

More importantly, how the hell is this Google's fault? Isn't that business? Your competitors steal your customers and you make a better product to get them back. Apple makes it sound like Samsung is forcing everyone to buy their products.

26. gallitoking posted on 03 Jul 2012, 23:52 1 6

Samsung is doing that look at all of you flocking to buy anything Samsung trows at you guys

32. tedkord posted on 04 Jul 2012, 00:04 5 1

34. gallitoking posted on 04 Jul 2012, 00:10 1 6

neither does Apple but you guys claim that

36. nicholassss posted on 04 Jul 2012, 00:24 1

technically speaking, as far as specs go, isnt samsung actually making one of, if not the best phone on the market right now? when the next iPhone comes out i dont doubt it has the potential to be the best phone on the market at the time. but not all phones can be all things to all men.

47. taco50 (banned) posted on 04 Jul 2012, 01:57 1 7

How is it the best phone when they have to steal technology to make it. Samsung should invest some money in R&D and compete fairly.

50. bayusuputra posted on 04 Jul 2012, 02:14 2

forget about OS, see the hardware.. If you can't see why android OEMs are on top of the smartphone frontier, then you are either dumb, or delusional..
