Samsung argues Galaxy Nexus had too “minuscule” sales to be a threat to Apple
0. phoneArena posted on 21 Aug 2012, 03:29
If we were a phone company, we wouldn’t be so happy to declare our device has minuscule sales. But when it comes to patent fights Samsung is quick…

*Facepalm*Uhhhh...Samsung, I love you and all but really your arguments are really...what's the word? Have some pride and dignity and stand up for what you believe! If the Nexus isn't a copy of the iPhone, why bother to tell the court that it didn't hurt iPhone sales? That's like saying "Yeah, we copied, but the copy didn't sell well so no harm done."
Then again, this is court...American court, where crap doesn't make sense in the first place.

yup, but their point is somehow like:
Apple only attacks those that threaten it's sales --- in a way that Apple will look like the one making childish decisions.

Exactly.
Nexus: Curved glass, LTE, Android 4.0 with NO skin, (NOTHING like iOS) faster processor, more RAM, essentially better than any iPhone.
How does that copy the iPhone in any way?!

if you make a basic 2D drawing of it... its a rounded rectangle! they have a patent for that. lol.

Actually, if you make a 2D drawing of it, spin around and get dizzy, then squint REALLY hard, it kinda looks somewhat similar to an iPhone.
Smh, Google. Unacceptable.

That's what happens when you put a phone on only one carrier, make it 300 dollars, and never update it.
Thanks Verizon.
I would venture that the Nexus phones by themselves have never been great sellers compared to the branded phones. They're more like concept cars than anything else. They show possibilities but aren't meant to be the d**k punching monster selling market share dominating ass kickers that phones like the Galaxy S, Razr and One lines are supposed to be.

but the international unlocked one is... a beast! Still a flagship phone even after the S III and One X was announced. I bet the Gnex can still compete with the iPhone 5.
5. Sniggly posted on 21 Aug 2012, 03:48 4 0
The unlocked version is a HELL of a deal. Only two flaws are no LTE and no expandable memory (16 gigs ain't enough.) But 350 dollars for a fast phone with a nice design and really quick updates? Yeah, I'd take it if I had the money right now.
6. bobfreking55 posted on 21 Aug 2012, 03:59 2 0
Agree, and I don't really need LTE anyway.
--- and there aren't any Nexus with expandable memory...
I'm really excited for the next Nexus!
7. Sniggly posted on 21 Aug 2012, 04:03 3 0
Right, but the Verizon version comes with 32 gigs, which would be enough.
I want to see what the next Nexus brings as well. I hope Google blasts the doors off expectations.

actually the nexus one had expandable memory

Well, Nexus will never be a big success with SS or HTC b-c those companies will hold back key technologies for their own phones that come after. Compare Galaxy Nexus screen with GS3 and you see my point.

i thought the galaxy nexus with it's blazing fast processor and ICS onboard is the topnotch android phone and sold way more than the iphone based on android fans claiming it to be last december?
10. Sniggly posted on 21 Aug 2012, 04:42 4 0
I don't think anyone ever claimed that the iPhone was outsold by the Nexus. The Nexus is BETTER than the iPhone, but was never a strong seller.
11. MeoCao (unregistered) posted on 21 Aug 2012, 05:02 0 0
We can never come to agreement in this b-c difference in values.
14. remixfa posted on 21 Aug 2012, 07:19 1 0
can you find a single comment to back that up?
I think I remember someone saying that it was the top selling android phone on VZW for a quarter, but not much more than that.
The only phones that have ever come close to iphone size sales are the galaxy line, which is why Apple is trying to litigate samsung to death.

Verbiage like "universal" or "in a [insert type here] system" should be left out of patent filings. Seriously, how do you not get more overly broad than "universal"?
Even "system" is open to interpretation if someone wants to argue the point.
Retrieving information in a computer system is something computers have been doing since computers were invented. It's one of their main damn functions.
Patents should be about specifics, not generalities.
16. sp3llv3xit posted on 21 Aug 2012, 08:26 1 0
In 10 years time or so, the word universal will be synonymous with apple. Unless, another company turns it into cider.
20. InspectorGadget80 posted on 21 Aug 2012, 23:03 0 0
EXACTLY my point. Apple doesn't want anyone else makes more money than them which is selfish of APPLE
