Perhaps you read something in that announcement that I missed. There's no mention of Android that I can find. It says they're creating their own OS. Perhaps you just meant that everyone is making their own OS? Either way, I predict this will be stillborn or only used in their home market. Samsung has never had the balls to stick with anything long enough in the mobile world to be of any consequence.

"According to Telecoms Korea, Samsung plans to part ways with Symbian as of 2011, significantly decrease the number of WM smartphones in their product catalogue by 2012 and focus on ANDROID-based handsets instead. We hope we get to know more about the OS soon!" Is that Clear enough for ya?

The horrible thing about all these new OS's that are all based off of lixux anyways... it makes it hard for developers to put their program on the different OS and make the experience the same for each. WinMo, RIM, Apple, Symbian, Maemo, Android, BaDa... Hopefully they will design it in an easy way to program or use standard languages. It would make it easier to compete too.
