Korean manufacturer Samsung has filed a trademark application to use the name Samsung GEAR; doesn't that sound like the name of a smartwatch to you? Back in March, Samsung VP Lee Young He confirmed that Sammy is working on a smartwatch, but did not give out any clue to a possible name of the device...

i hate samsung but even i would say this is not copying. Sony gave rebirth to computing - watch, pebble was there too then, and then everyone realized the potential of it and all companies are pouring in to make more cash from customers.
i frankly think one phone is more than enough gadget for me to carry. i wont be buying tablet unless im going on plane.
and smart watch is for kids and old people in my opinion, i dont need to check my heartrate nor look like Inspector Gadget.
its like those bluetooth headsets. people bought it, but they looked like complete idiots or wanabees.

Seiko, a Japanese watch company, was one of the first to develop wrist computing technology. The first digital watch, which debuted in 1972, was the Pulsar manufactured by Hamilton Watch Company. "Pulsar" became a brand name which would later be acquired by Seiko in 1978. In 1982, a Pulsar watch (NL C01) was released which could store 24 digits, making it most likely the first watch with user-programmable memory, or "memorybank" watch.
Oh yeah because Sony invented the smartwatch, right?!
Butthurt haters nowadays, smh!

Samsung introduced the first smart watch in modern form (touch screen, email, MP3 etc) back in 2009. The model was called Samsung S9110. And it still looks much better than the current smart watch designs from Sony, Pebble etc.
So guess who copied who now?

It's world first watch phone dumb ass not world first smartwatch

Thats even better isnt it? It has touch screen, bluetooth, mp3, email etc plus phone features making it a watch phone! On top of that a much better design than the likes of Sony or pebble launched recently.
To make it easier for you to understand:
Watch Phone > Smart Watch.
Releasing A Watch Phone in 2009 with a good design > Releasing a crappy smart watch with poor design elements
