How can the Chinese government allow such a deal. That's a huge advantage to avoid paying licenses to microsoft. This will lead to Lenovo, ZTE and Huawe will be knocked out.

China must protect its manufacturers from patent trolls.

It also gives us more choice if there are more manufacturers than Nokia that would then be exempt from licensing.

This must be stopped!

Any time a company is raising concerns to... "China’s Ministry of Commerce" and not their own US justice department it has to raise some eyebrows.

This is shady especially considering google just purchased equity stake in Lenovo, a chinese company. this is the wrong way to do business, you don't need to take an ethics course to know that

The thing is that they know Lumia devices are great.. It's not about patents.. They'll use any excuse they can to keep MS from doing what they know MS can do with the Lumia brand.... MS has the power to get devices on much more store shelves world wide then Nokia does.. And that's a fact!

Patent should not be use like ballistic missile of destruction.

A flat rate for patent payout should be applied. 5 cents and not $35 or $40 US dollars per device.

Patent owner get reasonable compensated public get a reasonable priced device.

HMM did google get all this flak when it bought Motorola which it recently sold. Microsoft wants Nokia because lets face it- Nokia made Windows 8 smart phones are the only ones that are selling well enough for ANY OEM to make a profit on. other MS smart phone OEM's only make one or two windows phone models. Nokia makes I guess 8 models of Windows smart phones. I would not allow the Chinese to dictate my business operations even if they are a big market. after all India has over a billion people population and is a more favorable market place for Microsoft or Nokia. the rest of the world is a place Nokia and Microsoft's can make a lot of money. American companies in the States do not let China dictate their merges. Go on Microsoft & Nokia do your deal.

This is kinda ironic and funny, that the biggest thiefs and copycats in the world joined together and are worried about Nokia, which has been one of the most honest OEM in past years. Now these little copycats fear, that they have to actually pay for using others IP.

Shame on you Shamesung & Google and those Chinese copycats.

Hmm come to think of it why are Google and Samsung up in arms. I think it's the New Nokia
"X" phones they do not want a Microsoft controlled Android smart phone HELL it's too late for that If the deal does not go through Nokia and Microsoft will still continue to collaborate and create this smart phone line. the Nokia X phones wont come to the USA but they will make a Dent in Samsungs low end android market. a Nokia "XL" upgraded a bit and sold for less than 200 dollars in the USA would sell like hot cakes. Samsung is really afraid of a Nokia "XL" with a pure vue camera and an HD screen with the Nokia Android OS. it would
out sell their Galaxy S5 in the USA. Google cannot stand the thought of a Microsoft controlled Android smart phone line that they cannot Control like Google controls it's OEMs like Sony Samsung. LG. HTC and others

Without gapps, she's useless.
I figure once people figure out that the cheap phone runs on the most used os in the world, they'll upgrade instead of side stepping into wp.
I doubt Google is worried about that angle honestly.

Those who defend Google sound like a Saturday Day Night live skit. Are you kidding? It was Google owning Motorola Mobility that continued to charge over the top license fees for FRAND patents. The courts had to intervene to stop Google. If anything Google just believes if they are jerks then everyone else also must be jerks. Sorry Google. Microsoft is not and unlike Google is actually fair.

China is not going to stop this. It is just a delay. And if Google had a case, they would be fighting it here in the US.

I am still not sure what I think of this, I truly don't. But there is no way this leads to any kind of greater patent war because Nokia will still be an independant company and they will be keeping the VAST majority of those patents. MS gets nada of the important ones, if any. That is why this will go through.

Google plays fair...they are being forced to change how they display search results in Europe. Google is known for displaying their sites as results and not as ads. Enjoy allowing Google to steal your identity. Yes Microsoft was charged with violating antitrust laws by bundling ie without offering other alternatives. On a good day Apple and Google does this everyday. Microsoft has done more for the customer than Apple and Google. You have been duped by Apple and Google to believe they care about you.

Here again if we just focus on this article about patent fees we can say Google has been the bad corporate neighbor by over charging for FRAND patents. It doesn't get any simpler than that.
