Samsung's Vice Chairman Kwon Oh-hyun has commented on reports about the firm's alleged exclusivity as a Retina Display supplier for the new iPad. The translation from Korean reads: ``It’s a matter of allocation. There is no only supplier in the world. Samsung is just supplying displays to Apple, initially"...

Samsung never produced IPS panels, so it's hard to believe that Samsung has developed IPS production line just for Apple. Instead it is actually possible that Apple uses Samsung's brand new PLS technology, which is very similar to IPS and supports very high resolutions and pixel densities + easier to manufacture, while LG produces iPhone4 IPS Retina screens but at first were unable to deliver such quantities for iPad 3. Just a thought, never checked for real...

PLS is just a fancy way of saying IPS
Look at the underlying display technology

There are many articles online where a 'new' ipad is dismantled and the serial coding on the screens back all indicate its a samsung panel.
Its funny as the only noticeable change to the ipad was actually made by samsung, then Reviewers from PA and others give apple credit for it and Apple claim we've improved our screen' we've made it 'resolutionary'.
Ifans claiming here in a sheep fashion that apple 'engineered and produced' the screen have gone quite

your partially right and if something works why not use it and improve on it. That's what Japan, and Korea does. China and Taiwan is quickly following suit.

If Samsung's products are crap why is Apple using those Samsung creations and technologies?

I know this is hard to believe for someone with no technology expertise such as yourself, but regardless of who makes the individual part, it still takes a significant amount of engineering on Apple's part to actually make it work. They don't just give Foxconn a list of parts and say "make this work".
It's kind of pathetic how you've tried to jump all over this minor detail that no one actually cares about, just another indication of how much an obsessed fanboy you are.

What would Apple do without do without Sammy although they hate em but they just cant live without em. Apple relies on companies like Samsung.
