Samsung admits to trolling HTC

0. phoneArena 16 Apr 2013, 18:58 posted on

It looks like the Taiwanese investigation of Samsung will be pretty short, because the Korean company has admitted to hiring trolls to bad-mouth HTC on the web. The investigation began after a Taiwanese website, called TaiwanSamsungLeaks, accused Samsung of hiring people to criticize HTC on the web...

People accuse Samsung of not innovating its sad. The HTC One is literally a glorified/better looking HTC DNA with a 30% faster cpu and different camera, their hardware is so similar on paper they would look to be the same phone almost.

Samsung at least changed most of the hardware but they did choose to keep the same design.

*Better to keep the same design than to use the same hardware in a new design.

Wait hang on, so HTC redesign their software, use different materials and have their phone praised as on of if not the best looking and feeling handset.
They try to change the way people use their camera and that its not all about megapixels.
Yet samsung gets huge praise for reusing a design, reusing last years UI and only adding a a few software tweaks

Agreed... HD is a blind fanboy so don't expect anything different. SS is the worst rehasher

30 percent faster cpu? How is that barely an upgrade? Oh, so the Exynos 5 may be 40 percent more powerful than the S4 pro, and that is somehow much better than the S600? Same hardware? None of the hardware is the same in the One as the DNA, besides the SLCD3 screen. dude, you are seriously stretching. It's reslly ridiculous.

Well, HTC does a little more when it come to innovation. they were the first in almost everything when it comes to phones and in some cases tablets

Both have their advantages, I would prefer sense over Nature UX but not for last years hardware (besides the faster cpu) and I would probably just install a custom Rom on it anyway.

How is the One "last year's hardware"? The S4 is not that far ahead in speed testing, and besides, most phones overpower the networks they run on currently anyway. No longer are networks limited by the devices running on them. It is the other way around at this point.

Aluminum body beats plastic any day.

Alumnium feels better in your hands, makes device feel hotter, also heard it messed with NFC on XDA.

Plastic harder to damage but feels cheap, you can always get a better back cover, used to have an S3 and I used a leather back for better grip/feel.

plastic is harder to damage but the other part of the phone still easy to damage like the display
S3 it sucks when it come to build quality even compare to aluminium phone like iphone5
even if you compare samsung device with other ''plastic'' device samsung is still the worst
my nokia E6-00 have been scratches and dents, but still looks and feels better than my plastic toy Galaxy S2,
just hoping that gorila glass 3 can help S4 in accidental drop

i agree with Lumia 920, Xperia Go, have proved it, that phone is soooo durable.
Build quality not always about durable but premium looks and feels
thats why ROLEX usualy using Gold Did you know that Gold is not the strongest metal on earth???
All smartphone have glass display but have you see the drop test between S3 vs Iphone5
when they drop S3 from the pocket the side of S3 hit first but thanks to bad samsung build quality the display breaks so easly
but When they drop Iphone5 only small dents on aluminium body

Have fun with all the scratches, dinks, chips, scuffs, dents, etc. that you wouldn't notice on "polycarbonate"
There's a difference between them two, that poeple can't seem to understand.

agreed apple was using plastic too till they realised they can suck more money out of people by replacing the whole back case

metal back case 100 - 300
plastic battery cover 5 - 40

That is simply your opinion wendy, not a fact. Some people do see the HTC One as a more desirable device, such as myself. Not to mention, if the device is so clearly superior, then why would Samsung troll HTC like this?

Why, if your device is so superior, troll someone else's products unless you view them as a legitimate threat? I am sure the S4 will sell more than the One since it is available on all carriers and Sammy can clearly spend more money on marketing etc(they outspent Apple last year in advertising, if I recall correctly). That said, to me this says that Sammy believes this device is a worthy competitor for them to stoop so low as to do something as classless as this, imo.

Instead of trolling HTC, how about you guys just do what so many people keep screaming in frustration... Make a metal device! Maybe if you had done that with the GS4, maybe you would be getting all the buzz that HTC's getting right now. Save the excuses and just do it.

Metal???? Why you guys always screaming about metal???
It scratches, dents, chips...interprets with nfc and makes up for bad reception....
We just need more durable polycarbonate.....
No metal, no glass...

Agreed 100%, doesn't need to be metal but take that Walmart spray paint off and make the plastic slightly thicker or higher quality

there is a different between premium devices and durable device
if samsung Device is premium smartphone
why it looks like plastic toy
if it durable smartphone why its not durable

I can't believe I'm doing this but SS products are durable in drop test and I've dropped a few in the past with not many issues but I hate the way the newer ones feel in my hand and the way they look though.. They are becoming complacent so that's my beef with them.. Te software is great though

did you compare it with other device???
What im talking about if samsung want make premium device they must using premium material ( not always metal they still can using other material as long it looks and feels premium ) because premium smartphone not design for durability
''premium devices must have the best look, feel, hardware, and feature''
