2. wendygarett (unregistered)
And R.I.P to Lumia 900 :)

If Focus 2 can't win Lumia 900, then it will be a tragedy since Focus 2 is a WP8 but 900 is WP7.5
But Nokia WP8 should be better than this Focus 2 (because of added pureview feature)
5. wendygarett (unregistered)
I think focus will be on par of that, since samsung now king of the phone :) they dont change much

As sexy as SGS3? The SGS3 must be one of the least sexy also-rans in terms of design ever. Even Samsung with their tradition of bland, unidentifiable design should be ashamed of that piece of cheap plastic.
If Samsung wants to be serious on Windows Phone, where specs is less important than for droids, they need to produce something that looks a bit more appealing, imo.

Exactly if samsung want to compete in Windows that have to beat Nokia in desighn and build quality because specs besides screen is not that important. after all windows will run off of 256MB of ram on a single core. so if they bring that cheap feel and plastic material then nokia will beat them every time. if they buld a lumia tablet with the same desighn and material as the 900 man o man they would own the tablet market.

Imagine windows running on that killer hardware....
24. Veigald (Posts: 290; Member since: 13 Jan 2012)
Yeah, still a fluent as on a single core processor with 512mb ram (or on 256mb for WP8) :)

GSIII with Android or Windows 8.The question is...
7. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
if samsung is making a windows8 phone that powerful and with such a large screen, does that mean it will be able to have desktop compatibility? That would be awesome.

I like your imagination :) here your thumb up!!

I hope they don't use that ugly Galaxy 3 design with Windows Phone 8. Better they redesign it.
10. shadez10 (Posts: 425; Member since: 15 Jan 2012)
sorry samsung Nokia has Windows phone 8 + pureview tech... Lets see what you can do. =D
13. bobfreking55 (Posts: 866; Member since: 15 Jul 2011)
yeah, i was thinking nokia is doomed - until I remembered. we haven't seen what Nokia can do without hardware limitations and they have been working on that 41MP sensor in secret... i think Nokia's gonna wow me with their Prodigy Handset.
17. dickwyn (Posts: 620; Member since: 07 May 2012)
i think by the time WP Apollo come out Pureview MIGHT just reach higher limits
32. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
Nokia is nowhere near doomed. Samsung is coming in to wow with hardware specs like they do with Android. But on android it has a purpose. Unless they add desktop compatibility of some sort, exactly what would you do with a quadcore windows phone? Nokia has a near permanent upperhand with their partnership with MS.
If nokia was smart, they would pair an exynos 5250, OMAP5, or S4 Pro with that 41mp sensor and some other things to really wow us out.

and don't forget Nokia promised the Rich Recording Technology will be coming to their new handsets... =D
that means Windows Phone 8 + PureView + Rich Recording = REAL INNOVATION...
Samsung is doomed... xD

this sounds promising but i will wait to see what nokia has to offer i just love nokia build quality samsung is just to into platic and cheap fill. my 900 is the first phone ive had that IMO matches the iphone in build quality.
16. dickwyn (Posts: 620; Member since: 07 May 2012)
No Matter what i still see nokia leading the WP 8 Line up because they are the only OEM partner to be able to modify the OS. and Pureview is going to be one of its abilities. android really has to ramp up their maximum camera MP, 12MP really isnt enough
18. kshell1 (Posts: 1143; Member since: 05 Oct 2011)
How many times will people have to hear this to get the picture. Megapixels don't count unless you want a billboard!
20. shadez10 (Posts: 425; Member since: 15 Jan 2012)
yea right... nokia has better quality pics because of their good camera sensors + the OS itself is good at processing such images...
22. dickwyn (Posts: 620; Member since: 07 May 2012)
nobody else has used the Xenon flash the right way except for nokia's N8 and the 808 pureview
21. dickwyn (Posts: 620; Member since: 07 May 2012)
yeah it dosent matter but pureview technology is something new with up to 3X Loseless zoom, paired up with a Xenon flash and perfecto

All windows phone needs is all those popular apps from other platforms, and it can gain solid marketshare.
28. dickwyn (Posts: 620; Member since: 07 May 2012)
i think microsoft is working very hard for that
30. TROLL (banned) (Posts: 4851; Member since: 13 Apr 2012)
But windows is much restrictead than Ios....
How or why would Android users would find that
so good? It cant even run nokia drive let alone
so many others. what a joke...
Comparing Linux vs half baked Windows Os....
31. mobilefuture (Posts: 214; Member since: 12 Nov 2011)
Well i know for sure that nokia and samsung are both going to be dominating windows platform, which ones comes out on top? Only time will tell. Just like how HTC and samsung are dominating android. Everywhere you look if someone has an android its either samsung or htc. Just like that nokia and samsung will be toe to toe in terms of windows phone 8 OS. But that will also only happen if the marketplace blows up. Its going to be samsung's 'S' softwares vs nokia's pureview tech! Nokia FTW!

Windows phone sucks. it doesnt need that amazing hardware to play its best game with amazing graphics(fruit ninja). when theres no high end game or any other requirement then whats the need for specs. and i dont know about lumia 900 but lumia 800 has a very bad touchscreen (in terms of responsiveness compared to htc hd7) so nokia will suck as always. Only 480x800 resolution. And no apps. it just sucks. Why would any android fan like wp7. its not even as customizable as ios. if there was no android then i'd buy iphone. if there wasnt even iphone i'd buy blackberry or symbian. but not wp7. it sucks. (i am a former htc hd7 user. good hardware crap software) do whatever the hell you want microsoft but in a market with options you just cant sell crap
35. tward291 (Posts: 559; Member since: 14 Feb 2012)
lol wtf are you talking about 480x800 is the standard micrsoft has set to keep cost low along with a number of ofther limitations.your comment about iphone has more customization than windows that has to be a joke. at the end of the day if you want to customize then android is for you.
37. Penny (Posts: 1647; Member since: 04 Feb 2011)
Lol. I find this comment to be so ignorant that I realize a well-reasoned well-reasoned response would be futile. Congratulations and enjoy your day.
Oh and btw, the topic of discussion in this article was WP8, not WP7. Congrats there too.

The Samsung Galaxy S 3 is a very formidable Android Smart phone it has great specs and if indeed Windows 8 is installed on another Samsung smart Phone with the same
specs then that would be an awesome Windows smart Phone of the kind that will at last make people considering buying Windows smart phones because they have latest
technology People want in their smart phones. Nokia will cut loose with a super smart
phone of the Windows 8 class and if reports on the net are true Nokia has already put
New components into the body of the Nokia Lumia 800 and 900 so that they can run
Windows 8 software so if you like the Lumia 900 look out for the the Lumia 900-2 that
will be running windows 8. it will look the same outside but inside it will have NEW GUTS.AND A HIGH DEF SCREEN AND ECT. The Nokia Prodigy will have a new case design the question is will it look as classy as the Nokia 900.
36. 7thspaceman (Posts: 1513; Member since: 14 Feb 2011)
I do not believe Nokia is DOOMed 1= Nokia still makes feature phones that sell well.
2=Nokia makes the Number 1 selling Windows Smart Phones on the Planet Earth
and is finally going to cut loose their best Windows smart phones the Windows 8
class smart phones that will have the High technology in them that Android and Apple trolls have said windows smart phones do not have and have a better OS than windows 7.5 mango. 3= If Nokia does a smart marketing move and put High tech components into the body of the Lumia 900 .and put Android 4 ICE Cream Sandwich on it. Nokia would sell more Android smart phones than anybody out there peroid! All android smart phone makers out there FEAR A NOKIA LUMIA 900 RUNNING ANDRIOD 4 I am a Windows Metro Phone fan but I would like NOKIA
to Give you nice Andriod folks out there a really nice Nokia android smart phone.
38. Leon101 (Posts: 90; Member since: 27 Feb 2012)
They probably did a hot design for windows 8 phone and put a crappy design well not a crappy design but not he best design for android just to help the Windows 8 phone market!!!! My guess...
40. Credo (Posts: 744; Member since: 19 Apr 2012)
Lol Samsung is getting tired of Android :D
Windows Phone 7 already beat Android in the fact that it runs smootly on just a single core instead of thousands of cores like Android does, Windows Phone 8 is going to be the reall Android killer on every way, and don't come with the excuse that you cannot personalize WP!
Its sexy how it is :D
42. kshell1 (Posts: 1143; Member since: 05 Oct 2011)
I don't see how they are getting tired of android, they come out with 2 maybe 3 windows devices a year that dont sell all that terribly well and they come out with an army of androids every year.
44. Credo (Posts: 744; Member since: 19 Apr 2012)
they are waiting for wp8, and believe me, wp7.5 is making its succes today, many people have such a device but everyone is waiting for wp8
45. kshell1 (Posts: 1143; Member since: 05 Oct 2011)
I still dont see how they are waiting on wp8 or having success with wp7.5 considering the fact market share for windows if anything has dropped slightly. Nokia is the only company truly putting any effort into windows

I believe that Sammy noticed that the company they just displaced as the #1 cell phone maker in the world (Sales) is betting their future on WP8 and the generations to follow. Samsung can afford to throw some top spec device at the WP Market to compete with them.
This argument has been done to death, but we can keep having it. Billions of cell phones are being sold every year. 2012 is expected to be the first year they outsell feature and basic cell phones. Why is it that so many think that there isn't room for 3 to 4 OS systems on that large of a market? If WP never makes it to the level of Android or iOS- So what? 15% of the smartphone market at those type of numbers is HUGE money. Samsung ain't stupid. Why not compete for those future dollars?
