So, I've read every single one of these commentaries about the u740. I was in a VZW store today, as the Samsung rep was there, so I decided to ask him a few questions, pertaining to this device. Just to clear some things up, it's been TALKED about, but nothing has been signed. I think this phone would totally rock, and I like the form factor much more than that of the Voyager. And for you Voyager Haters out there, with the latest software update for the voyager, it's amazing how many of the so-call "problems" with the phone are solved. Still a top phone, and in my eyes beats the iPhone that has Dial-up network speed, and you only getting fast access IF you can find a wi-fi spot that doesn't charge you. That's pitiful in this day in age, but then again, the phone reflects the network which it's on. And the issues with the iPhone have been enormous. And you fellas touting the iPhone and that VZW doesn't have it, blah blah blah. Apple came to Verizon FIRST and offered it to them, because apple knows that verizon has the best network. But why did VZW decline it? Simply stated: customer experience. Verizon prefers to take care of their customers, first-hand. They pride themselves on the network itself, and when there IS an issue, they compassionately apologize and do all that they can to get the issue resolved. I had an HTC 6700 from another carrier that I activated onto my VZW number. After many failed attempts at getting the data connection to work, I called tech support. When they couldn't get it resolved at first call, they assured me they would get it taken care of. After they resolved the issue on their side (in less than 12 hours), they called me one time per day, 3 days in a row, being sure that it was running correctly. (the only reason they called 3 days in a row was that I didn't have an opportunity to answer, so they left me messages, ACTUALLY following up). I've NEVER experienced that with any other carrier, and I've been with 4. And for those of you b*tching about the lack of Wi-Fi, why would you need Wi-Fi when the network itself runs at DSL and Cable Speeds? It's pointless. And it's available nationwide. It's the LARGEST hot-spot ever, and the most reliable! hah! Lastly, for you complaining about the phones that VZW offers, you're apparently unaware of VZW taking the initiative and opening its network by the end of the year. This means that any device that is CDMA (and in the future LTE) capable can be run on the VZW network. Not only that, but they've organized a special division within the company to corespond to these devices--for testing, techinical support AND training of the associates on how to activate them. Wow, so they're gonna pay their employees to activate a device that they don't PERSONALLY endorse. Impressive. Don't forget that VZW is teamed with Google for when they launch their highly secretive user interface and their very own device. Now that's a hefty teaming, take the best phone company in the nation, with the best internet search, multimedia, etc, company...sounds like a winning combination right there. And with VZW leading the way in planning its 4G future,it's taking the LTE road. Awesome! Real-time tests in Berlin already prove that it'll reach speeds of 100 mbps. Wow! Nice Job AT&T with Edge. Oooh la la! This, with the open network, you can NOT get any better service. Leading the way with Network (Says JD Power AND Consumer Reports) and then giving you the option of using one of Verizon's endorsed devices, or bringing your own, you really cannot get any better. You'll be able to use whatever hot phone is out there and have it on the best, highest-speed network available. Lovin' it, lovin' it. And VZW's sister, Vodafone is going forward with its 4G as LTE, too. So Verizon will truly be International. Largest international cell phone company Vodafone, with the best, and nearly largest cell phone company domestically, you really can't go wrong, now can you? You say that VZW needs to catch up to everyone else. I say, you're all paddling in VZW's wake, struggling to keep your head above the water, cuz VZW is steaming passed all the other companies, at only half-throttle.

All I want to say is....you people seriously need to open your eyes. When you defend a network/phone like some one was talking bad about your dead mother who you loved so much, you need help. These companies are not defending you so why should you do that for them. I just htink it is pretty sad that people will get so upset over such stupid sh*t. If you dont like a phone then dont buy it and if you dont like the network then sign up with one that you do. IT IS THAT SIMPLE!!!

Do you really think that this will be a great phone like the F700 once Verizon inplements it's UI and disables any features that be worth something? Also, it is really irrelavant how many "test's" Verizon put's a phone thru...when it is Verizon doing the testing. Everyone thought the Voyager was going to be the Bomb....only it just Bombed.....

I first want to agree with the statement that VZW's customer support is by far the friendliest and most cooperative among any of the other U.S. carriers. I know this as other immediate family members have griped incessantly about Sprint and Helio. So that's my bit on that... As for the U940, provided that there really isn't an all encompassing technical description of this phone, is it really that different from the Voyager in terms of capabilities? I mean the Voyager that I have, truly is the best phone that I've ever owned. I have posted on this site saying that it is, in my mind, an "iphone killer". I guess my question is that of a skeptic, in that, what more could they bring to a phone that the Voyager hasn't mastered already? Actually, as I write this, there are some technical things that I hope the U940 does fix, like multimedia format from 3GP to simply AVI files or WMV files so that I won't have to waste time converting all my movie files. And the fact that finding a stereo headset for the 2.5 mm jack is a lot more difficult than one might think. The 3.5 is MUCH more prevalent in stores... OK other than THOSE issues, I'm UBER happy with the Voyager and unless the U940 is leaps and bounds better at doing what the Voyager already does, I'd suggest waiting until this phone comes out and then springing for a Voyager at a reduced price. I'm eager to hear what other people have to say about this phone as time goes on.

It will be interesting to see how this stacks up against the huge bar that the LG Voyager made. I think it will offer a little less but also be a little more affordable. Already a Samsung Glyde site up athttp://samsungglyde.com by the way!
