Samsung T639 announced for T-mobile
Samsung announced the release of its new clamshell phone - SGH-T639, which will be distributed by T-mobile and is the first 3G-capable phone of the carrier, featuring UMTS at 1700 MHz. Except this, the device outlook and features are typical for its functionality class. Apart from the 1.3 megapixel camera, the phone features Bluetooth, Web browser and MP3 music player. The microSD slot allows the expansion of the 30 MB internal memory and the quad-band network support makes it usable in both North America and Europe. T639 relies mainly on its appearance, which explains the possibility to choose among the four colors, the phone is offered in: Navy, Red, Aqua and Olive.

Samsung t639 is interesting. I would not recommend this phone to any of my friends, nor relatives. There are phone icons, on my display screen, that are not even in the instruction manual. I have one that I can't seem to get off my screen. Just so you see what I'm referring to, I have an icon that looks like an envelope, with a piece of paper and a pen. Automatically you'd think "saved message draft". But it's not. I've gone through different websites and support and no one knows what it is. Oh. And good luck having a phone conversation outside. The sound quality is very, very bad. Even with the volume setting turned all the way up. Also, there is no way to reduce the size of the clock on the display screen. You can't even eliminate it. I'd recommend the Samsung T639 as an "in between" phone: You absolutely had to get rid of your crappy phone, but need one to hold you while you wait for an even better phone to show up around Christmas time.

I have the same problem. This icon (envelope, paper, and pen) showed up on my display yesterday for the first time and I still haven't figured out what it stands for. Have you have any luck yet finding out what it means? Thanks, jedi_b

This icon just showed up on my phone also - I searched and it said that your simm card is full and to delete your messages - I did it and the icon disappeared. yeah!! I guess the simm will only hold about 30 messages...

I have this phone. I've had it for about 3 months. Ever since I first got it, I noticed that it vibrates when I answer a phone call and if you press the phone closer to your ear, it stops. I personally think this phone is a piece of crap and would not recommend it to anyone. It also cuts on and off for no reason. You can't set you text message alert to a song, it has to be one of the "songs" provided with the phone which are horrible!
