Remember the Samsung Stratosphere from the Verizon roadmap we showed you? Do you also remember that mysterious Samsung slider from a few weeks back?; many thought that both were the Samsung Galaxy S II, but it turns out that the mysterious slider and the Samsung Stratosphere are one and the same...

it'll likely be like a Galaxy S+ variant and mid-range LTE offering. i don't believe in anything below Super myself but some people appreciate these kinds of phones and if Verizon is going to deliver one anyway this is a fine offering.

what is really sad, is that this Epic 4g-LTE phone comes with android 2.3 while all the other SGS1 phones are stuck on 2.2 in america. Kind of insulting really..

If I had to choose between this and the Droid 3 i'd actually choose this.
It's got a super Amoled plus screen which is awesome and LTE support. I wouldn't call this amazing but it would be cool for vzv to get a taste of super Amoled plus.

there's definitely fair trade offs at work here in the slider space on Verizon. maybe next year we'll get a slider with it all. ;D

I guess this is what would have been the Droid 3.
This might sell well, since there are very few slider phones.
Super AMOLED plus/LTE is the big selling point of this phone.

A verizon rep told me that this phone was going to be a Pre-Paid phone..
Don't know how accurate seeing 4g LTE on a pre-paid phone seems a stretch in itself. But it is an interesting point.

Not a big fan of single core devices on Android. Purely my preference: I would rather have a dual core device which will be updated to I.C.S. and get all those features than an LTE device on single core which most likely will get a dumbed-down version or not run it well. But, this gives a great option for those who want speed over update potential.
Myself, I would still pick Droid 3 over Stratosphere. Got the feeling I might be in the minority here.....

They are different class phones. The droid 3 is an upper class phone with its hardware, and the stratosphere is a mid level phone. Do you want horsepower and probable upgrade ability to ICS, or do you want LTE and the beautiful SA+ screen knowing that this thing will never get off gingerbread more than likely?

Another joke of a phone. This phone is a Charge(with QWERTY). cheaper version...I don't get it. The Charge is LTE still stuck on FROYO, and then they push out a cheaper version of the Charge with Gingerbread.....If you don't stay on top of the game, you will get lost in all of this back and forth chess game these manufacturers deal out!!!!! This is why Samsung is the largest producer of smartphones. They put out 10 different versions of the same phone!!!

This is not a charge or like the charge. This is a smaller device with a smaller screen and a qwerty keyboard. Just because it doesn't have the largest display or the latest and greatest features, doesn't make it a joke of a phone. Not everybody wants or needs those things. Furthermore, If you want to play that game, pick any two phones by the same company, you could say phone A is like phone B, except phone A has this or that, or B doesn't have this or that.

I find Verizon reps to actually know nothing. When I go in there they usually don't know anything...are usually on their own smartphone updating facebook or texting and are biased as to the platform they are used to....so take it to heart, don't go into any Verizon Wireless store expecting anything but them pushing that home connect service your way,,,,you have to arm yourself with your own expertise and knowledge when you head to Verizon......

We're probably on our phones because we're bored out of our minds and hear 'iPhone 5?' every 5 minutes... or, because our managers don't mind us being on our phones as much as they mind us reading a book.. haha
Also... I personally never push anything on anyone. But I'm not going to tell you what you want because YOU should think about it yourself for a minute before walking in, not even knowing what 3G means... (some people actually think it's the memory capacity!) Hell0o.... it's called GOOGLE now ... stop wasting my time.

they are similar phones. They are both samsung phones based off the SGS1 reference with Hummingbird CPUs, Super Amoled+, and LTE. The biggest difference is screen size and maybe memory, but we have to wait for official specs for that.

Um, no, the big difference is the keyboard! The processor, screen tech and memory could be identical, but the experience of a big slate vs. qwerty slider is significantly different. By your standards, the Bionic is just a bigger Droid 3 with more memory and LTE. I for one wouldn't buy a giant slate like the Charge or Bionic, but I'm salivating over the Stratosphere.

My questions are:
Is the screen Super AMOLED Plus, or garden variety (pentile) Super AMOLED? We haven't seen SAMOLED+ on anything smaller than 4.3", which I thought was a limitation of the current shadow mask process. Pentile really detracts from the screen quality on 4"+ screens.
And if this is indeed a midrange LTE phone... will it get binged? :(
