Good news for Samsung Omnia II users! According to SamsungHub, Samsung Sweden has confirmed that the Windows Mobile powerhouse will get a firmware update to version 6.5.3 of the operating system in the second half of May. In addition to the new OS version, the update should also improve the overall responsiveness of the smartphone. All units shipped after the update has been rolled out should also come pre-loaded with the latest version of the OS.
In case the name Samsung Omnia II now sounds like a distant memory to you, let us recall some of its specs and see that it's not really dated yet: 3.7-inch resistive WVGA AMOLED screen, 5MP camera with DVD-quality video recording, 800MHz processor, GPS and Wi-Fi. And now with WM6.5.3 it will be more than capable of serving you well until Windows Phone 7 is finally here.

@omac, No, the article said nothing about Windows 7 is gonna be updated to the phone. It only specified WinMo 6.5.3 will be updated to the phone. The last sentence is telling you that at least you got WinMo 6.5.3 to use before the release of WPS7. It does not mean Omnia II will ultimately get WPS7. Dont be too excited yet, hahah.
