Samsung Lebanon says to expect the Samsung Galaxy S IV no earlier than May

0. phoneArena posted on 04 Jan 2013, 19:39

When Samsung Lebanon said on its Facebook site that the Samsung Galaxy S IV would launch no later than May, it was done in a nonchalant fashion that suggested that everyone in the world knew this information; in a follow-up statement, Samsung Lebanon tried to make it sound like the info they released was trivial when the truth is that a release date for the Samsung Galaxy S IV is awaited with baited breath...

Of course it will be in may around that time. They will beat the iphone 5s in sales just like they did with the gs3 out selling the iphone 5/4s

12. neutralguy posted on 04 Jan 2013, 23:29 2 9

gs3 doesn't come close compared to iPhone 5's sale, if you compared it to average sales per month.

14. abdane posted on 05 Jan 2013, 00:54 5 1

average sale per month maybe, but you cant say it doesnt come close... it is the closest of all phones... and it is the fastest selling gadget ever, 9 million in 1 wekk, iPhone 5 just 5 million...

S3 outselling the iPhone 5 about 3:1 in our stores, that's not even mentioning other android handset sales. Of course I'm talking about carriers outside of the us in Europe where iPhone 5 sales rush lasted about first 2 deliveries for us and then it ended. Android has the vast majority share outside of the US

galaxy s3 shipped nearly 35 million devices, could not find current iPhone 5 stats but at 1 point they were 3:1 behind in terms of sales, the release of iPhone 5 in new countries including china and other Asian countries i think have now put them back in front i think, but not by much, apple has a more established brand in terms of fan base but galaxy devices are closing in on that also, it is interesting what will come for the s4, i have had the iPhone and then the sgs1, sgs2, sgs3, sgs3LTE and as long as Samsung continue to impress and advance then i see no reason to change from there more user friendly, media friendly handset, as in my personal use the s3 beats the iPhone hands down for what i need it to do, obviously other people need there phone for different things and apple will be their choice

May is a good release date IMO. I will be skipping the IV and probably even the V, just got my S3 a few months ago at full retail of $700 so I'll be keeping it at least a couple years. And honestly, being that I don't use 70% of the features on my S3 I'm in no rush as it meets all of my needs.

I just purchasec my Galaxy Nexus 6 months go for $349 myself and I plan on keeping it till it stops receiving updates.

If that's the real design or anything like it, I hope they have worked out distinguishing between finger touch and accidental palm touch due to the lack of bezel. Either way i can't wait to see what samsung has to offer

6. rickywinataa posted on 04 Jan 2013, 20:03 3 1

it is possible actually, maybe by using capacitive sensor to measure the area of contact and detect it as accidental.

Don't worry note 10.1 has that...so will be s4...

The one thing I am hoping for in the new Galaxy S is a real focus on the camera. Everything else about the device was great in the last iteration but I feel like the camera should be given more focus since we are seeing HDR cameras in other devices. I also wish the body was made out of a different material that hasn't been done before such as ceramic. Besides that, I would say the device will be stellar given the rumored specifications that have come out.

It would be a real added plus if it came with the big.Little architecture in the form of 8-cores as some rumors suggest it may come with.

Lebanon!!??

16. amiaq posted on 05 Jan 2013, 02:04 3

Yeah, there are other countries in this world apart from the US, UK and China. Like Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan Lebanon and UAE. And BTW the being that live there are human like us too.

18. Nathan_ingx posted on 05 Jan 2013, 03:15 2

I it that you're from Lebanon or from somewhere near. I didn't mean to downsize the country or anything. I'm just amazed it came from a source from that side. Usually it comes from where Samsung is born. That's why...

*I get it that...

21. Lifengineer posted on 05 Jan 2013, 05:11 1

Hey Nathan I am from Lebanon!
I thank you for your explanation that you are not offending other people! I really thank you for that as I was in the first both offended and surprised by your comment!
Fortunately, unlike most people out there think, Lebanon is one of the most advanced countries in the world in terms of technology adoption (and not making, we are losers at that).
When it comes to smartphones, I read for example on the net about smartphone adoption rates and laugh! Like 50% or something...
Here i'm sure it reaches about 90%! Even my father, my mother, my aunts and everyone I know has a smartphone! Me and all my friends have the latest smartphones, and I can't keep my cell for one year and I just have to change it!
And btw we are known as the "grey market" in smartphones! We are really really cheaper than other countries (except USA and maybe China).
For instance a new S2: 370$; new S3: 490$; new Note II: 600$; new iPhone 5: 720$....etc..
So I guess that's just a blessing!

That's great man!! Enjoy while it lasts...
I never meant any harm...peace! :)

If they get rid of the ugly physical buttons, I'm all for it. Having on-screen buttons brings it closer to stock Android and maybe faster updates.

23. andro. posted on 05 Jan 2013, 06:06

Don't like losing screen real estate to onscreen buttons myself, just wastes some space. Have capacitive buttons just make the bezel they locate in a lot smaller

27. fouadqr posted on 06 Jan 2013, 06:19
