err, until then the iPhone 5 and the rest of the 720p screens will last longer and be more efficient on the processors pushing the pixels. all for what? a 20% more sharper screen?

my thoughts exactly but word around the block is that Super LCD3 screens use half the power as LCD2 so the 1080p might not turn out to be a battery hog after all...I dont know about the AMOLED though but Amoleds are very power efficient even now.

Galaxy S4 and Note 3 in all their glory...cant wait for it!

It would be a battery drainer if it implied the following: battery technology does not advance, chipsets remain the same in power efficiency as they are today, and screen technology (other than screen resolution) does not advance.

It's highly unlikely that any of those things will remain the same. They are able to fit larger batteries into smaller headsets (evident by the Droid RAZR MAXX). They are also able to create newer battery technologies that increase efficiency and battery capacity into smaller packages. Take a look, for instance, at hybrid vehicles. A couple of years ago, the batteries for hybrid vehicles were huge. Nowadays, they are able to fit a battery into the vehicle without it really compromising any space or utility.

Actually, the BEST example I can point you towards is the Droid RAZR MAXX vs the Droid RAZR MAXX HD. The HD has the same 3300mAh battery as the regular, but guess what? The HD is rated at 4 hours MORE in talk time. This is because of a combination of a more efficient chipset and new battery technology (lithium ion vs lithium polymer). The Droid RAZR MAXX HD is proof that you can have a bigger, more resolute display and still have great battery life. So, I don't think you should be worried about the new 1080p displays.

+1 for you on that. It could be a hit if these companies will focus on the battery and power-saving departments. Phones nowadays are incredibly smart and I think it's good to complement them with efficient and great power source (like ultrafast-charging or beefier batteries)

Honestly, I don't have issues with screens of 300+ppi. They can really deliver the images and texts very well. Besides, most buyers won't really care much about 100+ppi difference since it's barely noticeable.

And as a fan of the vivid Super AMOLED/HD/+, maybe Samsung could do something to prevent the screen burn-in issue.

true. When one outed something, everyone follows. Even if it's an overkill or what as long as there's a market for it.

For camera though, everyone's trying, but nokia's still the best. Let's just wait for nokia to create that graphene camera so everyone could follow. Having a killer resolution camera sensor and low light capabilities on a slimmer module would make OEMs drool.

most important is the slim part! but i guess that will take a while because a lens is a lens, and physically shrinking for the same quality will take a lot of R&D.
I want the 8X audio system to be implemented on all future HTC devices though, I dont see a reason why they cant do it.

Exactly. I was also thinking about the LG nexus and a few WP8's and just like that they all seem a whole lot less impressive.
In fact, i doubt we will see a 1080p windows phone until Windows 9 or so since WP8 doesn't support this resolution. Silly Microsoft. Guess it's time to go back to android.

3D may not be much of a fad but i would be skeptical to think that it would be any different on a mobile device. Even something like the Note II, it would not impress me much to see 3D. Projection technology where objects on the screen can be projected above it seems like a more intriguing tech to me.
