Fresh from going after the Apple iPad mini with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, there is speculation that the Korean manufacturer is going to once again drop a bomb on the 7.9 inch Apple slate by releasing in June and July different versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0; unlike the Note tablets, the Galaxy Tab line does not have a stylus and is more traditional with its capabilities...

I suspect it has a lot to do with such a negative comment regarding the lack of innovation when this article is clearly about two rumored devices where the only listed features are still pure speculation.
Either that or the OP is stating their opinion on innovation in general by Samsung or the lack their of, which would make Samsung fans rather unhappy.

Hoping for some better screens on upcoming tablets. The resolution on existing devices have been rather underwhelming. Why is it so much easier to have 350+ ppi on a 5 inch screen?

for the record it was Motorola that first nailed the 8 inch sweet spot and i would love to either have a successor to the Xyboard 8.2 or a Nexus 8.

I like the 7.7 screen samsung did back in 2011.

That was aluminum and super light too. However, it honestly felt the same as the plastic tabs so I have no idea where the omg its aluminum so build quality is much better than cheap plastic morons came from. Maybe from HTC.

the 7.7 was a nice exception from Samsung in regards to the build quality and the use of a SA+ display. let's be real here, if Samsung consistently used higher quality feeling materials like aluminum for their devices i don't think you'd be complaining. you need to get off of it guy.

Actually, I would be complaining pretty vocally if it had gaps, uneven surface, and flaking like the One S and One has. I also would be complaining if it had scuff marks, chips, and dents out of the box like the iphone 5.
Since it is Samsung though and they tend to manufacture better than foxcon and whatever HTC uses, you are right, I probably wouldn't complain. Unless reception was bad and the aluminum got smoking hot like I heard the HTC One does as well.

oh please, don't even get started with that. i've had aluminum and plastic phones alike and plastic doesn't have any shortage of flaws. at least aluminum constructed handsets feel better and more substantial in the hand. i've seen a Droid Charge melt in the FL sun before and plastic cases get loads of fine scratches into them from just the wear of placing it on so many surfaces after a while so don't you talk to me about dents and scuff marks. i can go all day about what can and would happen to a plastic phone after owning it for a while.

I have had plenty of both and I disagree completely. My plastic phones have held up much better over time than my aluminum products. None of my plastic phones or tablet have had a single scratch while my aluminum products developed them pretty quickly. Especially the band around my iphone 4s, putting a case on scratched it. Some products including the HTC One and iPhone 5 come out of the box with scuffs and dents, to be fair, so did the plastic One X but no other plastic products I have used did.
Also, when I was using the iPad 3 in my car on a sunny day it would heat up almost instantly to pretty high levels. My plastic tabs didn't come close to it.

I don't see whats the big fuss over plastic and aluminum. Just buy a case made out of whichever material you prefer, there are many cases made of aluminum, polycarbonate, tpu, leather,...
If you don't want a thick case, buy a skin/wrap, dbrand and slickwraps have skins/wraps that feel like various materials such as rushed metal, carbon fiber, leather, wood, but I guess they don't support much phones.

i have the 7.7 still and i feel the screen size is perfect for my uses. 7 seems a bit small. 8, imo, would be great. nobody carries around a tablet in their pockets.. (either jeans or jacket) no need to be concerned with that.
