Absolutely, it may not be better in every way to the Samsung Galaxy 7.0 Plus, but for $249 and having Android 4.0 on it, there is no better tablet in the $249 and below price point to compete with it.

i'm really confused with Samsung tablets. they can crush the iPhone anytime but they can't manage to do that with the iPad.

I read the verge's review on this one and I read one sentence there:

"Samsung can't beat the iPad, but it isn't trying to anymore."

Why not? Please announce a worthy tablet along with the S3's announcement like a Quad Core Exynos 1080p HD Tablet with an S-Pen and LTE.

I will "predict" the future for Samsung Tab series :)

The Tab 7 will go down to around 200 within few months.
Tab 10.1 will be around 350.

They will launch 2 new models within next few months along with SGS3.

Note 10.1 -- they are updating the hardware to quad core Exynos 4412. No change in screen resolution. Price will be around 500.

Then they will have the flagship Tab (maybe around 11 inch). It will have Full HD or WQXGA 2560 x 1600 display with exynos 5250. Priced will be around 500-550.

Let's see if my predictions are true :)

because people that want the ipad without lookin at the competition are different types of buyers. people that look at the competition pick android tablets a lot of the time.

the tablet market is growing. By the end of this month android will have a larger share of tablets than iOS. Samsung does not need to compete with apple in sales. Thats the same misnomer as it is in phones. It has much more competition eating away at it from the android side than it ever will from apple. Both the fire and the Transformer have undercut and outsold samsung in the low and high end. Thats where they are focusing. They tried to battle apple head on with similar pricing and better specs and got their legs cut out from them by other android tablets. They are readjusting to make sure that doesnt happen again.

Both lines are growing at a rate that seems to be independent of each other, though like usual android is growing much faster due to its open source nature.

i never saw it that way though, thanks.

news just appeared that the Note 10.1 could be changed to another product. i think they could compete with the Kindle Fire, but I think it could be getting a little late since a successor is getting ready and a Nexus Tablet is also in the works.

i'm hoping they compete in the higher end since the galaxy tab 10.1 really got a lot of attention when Apple was suing them all over.

the note 10.1 was the high end. it was supposedly going to share the same quadcore 4212 exynos chip the sgs3 was reported to have. Maybe this change is them switching it to the quad 5250 A15 exynos.. which is technically about 3-4x as powerful as an SGS2. impressive. :)

Very good price for a tablet. I'm sure it will have reasonable performance.
