Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ (Exynos) get TWRP custom recovery
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ officially hit the shelves only a few days ago, yet the global versions of the two flagships have already received TWRP support. The open-source software custom recovery image now allows Galaxy S8/S8+ users to flash custom ROMs and backup their current system with just a tap of a button.
We're actually a bit surprised to see TWRP released for the Exynos versions first. Although the former are more widely spread than their Snapdragon 835 counterparts in the US, Exynos typically does not release its kernel source which makes the entire process a lot more difficult.
This is also the case here, so it is highly advisable to follow the instructions provided by the folks at the XDA Developers forums who've put this together.
Before we wrap things up, we feel obliged to remind you that unlocking the bootloader of your Galaxy S8 or S8+ may void your warranty for the device. Yes, we know that most of you are likely aware of this by now, but hey, you have a $750+ gadget in your hands.
