Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ users reporting problems with wireless charging

Samsung has already had to deal with the first issue to plague the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+. Some units have been received with a red-tint on the screen that Samsung says can be adjusted by changing the color temperature in the display settings. Just in case such an adjustment can't be made by phone owners, the company has sent a software update to authorized repair centers that will help them deal with the issue.

Now, it appears that another problem has reared its ugly head. Some Galaxy S8 owners say that they cannot wirelessly charge their handset when using a Samsung Fast Charging pad  Some of Samsung's older charging pads are not working. However, using these older pads with a non Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger will allow the pad to work at a slower "standard" speed. When a pad fails to work, a notification appears on the screen that says an irregular charge has been detected. On the bottom of the screen, a message blinks on and off stating that wireless charging has been paused.

There is more to this convoluted situation, so you might want to take notes. As we said, Samsung's own older Fast Charging pads won't work on the new phones if they were the ones produced for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and older. The Fast Charging pad launched with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ seems to work perfectly as does the very first charging pad ever produced by Samsung (model EP-PN920). This is a pad that lies flat on a surface.

There is a possibility that Samsung is preventing Fast Charging from working on some older charging pads as a way to prevent issues with the battery. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ can reportedly detect charging pads that are not compatible with the new flagship models. After the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, perhaps the company wants more control over which pads are working with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. After all, the Samsung brand can't afford a repeat of what happened to its 2016 high end phablet.
