Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 camera to be 8 times brighter than current models?
0. phoneArena 06 Oct 2013, 16:19 posted on
A published report on Sunday says that Samsung is working on a 13MP camera for next year's models that will take outstanding pictures in low-light conditions. After all, that is the battlefield on where the smartphone camera wars are being played out; in addition, besides being able to take great snapshots in low light, the new camera will contain an "anti-shake" feature that will keep photos and videos looking as though they were taken using a tripod...

Lets see how that plays out.....ofcourse with the same cheap plastic protective cover,
22. maccess (Posts: 451; Member since: 16 Jan 2013)
first it's not cheap plastic , it's polycarbonate.. second i choose removable plastic back cover for removable battery and sd card over any aluminium phone with seal battery and memory..

HTC , Sony, LG , Nokia.....tried to follow Apple with non-swappable battery and SD, for the high-end devices. And they are almost dead now. This "premium design" BS iHypnosis , will not help them, at all.
They should learn, that ONLY Apple owns the zombies and the media, and only they can sell shining crap with logo. If they don't wanna learn, Samsung will sweep them out of the market,

And who told you they failed?! LG G2 selling better than Note 3 and SGS4.

Note 3 has just been introduced but if you could send me the link cause I'm not seeing any info supporting this.

BTW HTC one chosen as the best smart phone of 2013. Samsung got only one of the best brand of this year but not the best phone of 2013.

you do realise polycarbonate and plastic are the same thing right? Polycarbonate is the scientific name, and plastic is in layman's term (colloquial)
41. aldridhl (Posts: 40; Member since: 12 Feb 2011)
polycarbonate is only one type of plastic!! not all!. it should not be a blanket term.

I think is too early to start propagating this type of news, they just released note 3, let them give their current flagships some time to dominate the market before telling its customers that their will be need to upgrade to S5 and note 4 respectively.
Moreover, doing this will make other manufacturers get prepared, the best thing would be to storm every other manufactures by surprise, my view though...

I'm beginning to think that Samsung is making their S-series the "Call Of Duty" of phones... only minor tweaks but more of the same every year...

Samsung is making their S-Series the "iPhone" of phones... only minor tweaks but more of the same every year...
25. maccess (Posts: 451; Member since: 16 Jan 2013)
it's the same with other company too.. what the difference between your xperia z to z1?? only camera bump from 13mp - 20.7mp.. same model and screen size and update processor.. what the difference between galaxy s3 to s4?? from 4.8 - 5 inch screen , from 8mp to 13mp camera , update processor and little bit change in design to make it even slimmer.. please kid your profile name didn't suit your trolling behaviour towards samsung..

Ha! So poking fun at something constitutes "trolling" now.
No, seriously, Samsung phones awesome. Their fans are humorless though.

I don't think so, Samsung damn well know they can't be lazy in 2014. The problem has always been they only have 2 high end devices and plenty of low end crap for the year since 2011, next year there will be the premium F series which sits above the S Series and possibly the Note series which will be a refreshing change, I want to see a new flagship dethrone the S series once and for all, the Note isn't really ready to be embraced by the masses. Also design 3.0 means a UI overhaul as well as the design all you Sony/Apple and HTC fanboys keep mocking. The move to metal and a facelifted design and a less bloated software experience with swifter updates and I can't see where these so called accusations of refusal to change will hold much merit. If anything, stock android is the UI that needs a total overhaul which has looked the same since 2011.

I'm not a fanboy, but... why 3GB of RAM and still lags????
Ohh, their TouchWiz ROM is not really optimized and the bloatware...
My question is WHY THE IPHONE DOESN'T HAVE BLOATWARE AND THE ANDROID PHONES HAS IT?? Why? I don't get it...
21. MistB (Posts: 543; Member since: 07 Jul 2012)
So have you actually used a Note 3 or are you basing your theory on John V, aka the notorious famed cheerleader for IOS. Because i can tell you that after using a live demo unit at the carphone warehouse the Note 3 did remarkably well with gaming, web browsing, opening multiple apps and excelled at multiview multitasking better than it's predecessor. However that being said, the GS4 does lag from time to time and my original G Note 1 has become incredibly unbearable since updating to 4.1.2.

My S4 runs without a frame rate hiccup 99 percent of the time but every now and then you'll see a slight stutter. It doesn't detract from anything but for a phone with its specifications there really shouldn't be any stutter.
27. maccess (Posts: 451; Member since: 16 Jan 2013)
it's touchwiz that makes the phone stutter not the spec.. but as far as i see , touchwiz on the note 3 much smoother , almost lag or stutter free.. i think samsung has done something with touchwiz on the note 3..
30. Ant34 (Posts: 191; Member since: 10 Aug 2013)
As I said earlier the phone runs smoothly 99 percent of the time but I don't think the problem was fixed with the Note 3. I've watched several reviews of the phone and I saw hiccups here and there.

Apple was pretty damn hard on carriers in order to completely eradicate that bloatware and branding on their phones, the reason for Androids success is because it was so easy for carriers to accept it.
39. Commentator (Posts: 2086; Member since: 16 Aug 2011)
And stamp huge VERIZON logos on every possible surface.
52. 14545 (Posts: 975; Member since: 22 Nov 2011)
Android phones have bloat because the android OEM's are afraid to stand up to the carriers and tell them no. Due to the success of the iphone on att, and it's strategy over controlling the OS, Apple was able to demand those same concessions in the future. Android, as much as I like it, was never in the top seat with one OEM. However, if anything, I think Samsung is nearing the dominance it needs to be able to force the carriers hands if it wanted to. .

Iphone is the call of duty of phones, dumbass
6. tryingHARD (Posts: 64; Member since: 31 Dec 2012)
If it doesnt lag, i might buy galaxy again. iphones or windows phone is in my list for next year. Oh wait, im not buying anything from samsung again. So i dont care if doesnt lag anymore.
7. 14545 (Posts: 975; Member since: 22 Nov 2011)
From the sounds of it, I doubt you ever bought a samsung phone to begin with.
11. MistB (Posts: 543; Member since: 07 Jul 2012)
I know, i hear this pretty much all the time.
16. wrm2013 (Posts: 115; Member since: 28 Mar 2013)
I had the s2 and s3 when they came out. I bought a q10 and now use a HTC ONE. The s2 and s3 both were great when first purchased. once updated both phones lagged to the point of me wanting to get a new phone. Aside from that, touchwiz uses waaay too much memory. My gf has a s4 I feel my one is a much superior phone and can not tell a difference in photos side by side. To say a Samsung doesn't lag is ignorant.
19. Jurdiales (Posts: 105; Member since: 10 Oct 2012)
I had the SkyRocket, the SIII and the S4, when you first power up they're great and everything, but in the lapse of time they're lagging, even the S4...
26. Ant34 (Posts: 191; Member since: 10 Aug 2013)
I've had the opposite effect. When I first got the S4 there was considerable lag but now the phone is almost lag-free. You'll still see a stutter here and there when switching between apps but after the initial hiccup the phone runs smoothly.
8. 14545 (Posts: 975; Member since: 22 Nov 2011)
So, I assume with that kind of stability correction, that means that it will have optical stabilization and not digital? I don't care how good they claim digital to be, it will never compete with OIS. Anyway, I wasn't planning upgrading to the S5, but if this ends up coming true, I most likely will.

Nexus 5 is gonna be bad ass from wut I've been hearing.. Anyone hear otherwise???
31. skyline88 (Posts: 188; Member since: 15 Jul 2013)
and hopefully the camera will be much better. the previous Nexus 4 camera is horrible among other 8-megapixels.

It's LG... of course it's badass
20. k1ng617 (Posts: 229; Member since: 13 Oct 2009)
That will make me upgrade. Note 3 is a moderate improvement.
24. JMartin22 (Posts: 527; Member since: 30 Apr 2013)
It's actually pretty big. The display quality between Super AMOLED HD (Note II) and Full HD Super AMOLED (Note 3) is tremendous, in brightness (the Note 3 is 55% brighter or 86% brighter in Automatic-Brightness), the color reproduction is a lot better, whites are more comparable to a high-end LCD panel.
The camera also performs a lot better and the software with 4.3 is more optimized to take a better advantage of the Snapdragon 800, which is extremely more powerful and even more energy efficient than the Exynos 4 Quad in the Note II. Not to mention all the multi-tasking enhancements to the S-Pen this time around.
32. k1ng617 (Posts: 229; Member since: 13 Oct 2009)
I get there are improvements, especially when you look at it on paper, but I think in the day to day experience the improvements will be negligible. The s800 might improve high demand items by a few seconds and give me extra FPS in 3d games (that I don't really play), but I think most everything else might be fractions of a second. I don't have trouble with outdoor visibility either. Don't get me wrong, if money was no object I would buy it in a heartbeat. But unfortunately that just isn't the case =\

The browser on Note 3 slower than SGS4 Octa, HTC one and IPhone 5s!

hmmmmm i bet that Nokia Lumia high end will packed with 60 MP PV and night camera vision to screw Samsung Galaxy's S Lol.

but still running in lame OS.. LOL.. nice try boy..
51. theruleslawyer (Posts: 108; Member since: 23 Apr 2012)
8 times brighter? I wonder what that means in real terms. When you talk about a camera being bright, you're usually talking about apeture. 8x would be 3 stops. I can't see them getting a lens 3 stops better. A single stop is possible without extraordinary measures. Maybe they're talking about sensitivity on the sensor? 8x increase is extremely unlikely. Unless they're just amping the heck out of it to literally make the images brighter at the expense of noise. Or they're probably talking about the OIS being 'like' x8 brighter. In ideal conditions OIS can be similar to having 3 stops more light. I'm guessing the last one is most likely.
