Here is a juicy rumor fresh out of Korea - the Samsung Galaxy S IV might be the first handset in the series to launch with an S Pen and the accompanying functionality…

No. S Pen should be a Note only feature. If the Galaxy S line were to get an S Pen, that would take some of the glory off of the Note line, and just make it a bigger Galaxy S.

you just contradicted yourself. the Phablet features and tight integration with the S-Pen separate it from being an oversized Galaxy S. without them it would be a larger, higher end Galaxy S.

You said the Note was JUST an over-sized Galaxy S. Now, you are saying it's a large Galaxy S, but with special features dedicated to that kind of device. It's those special features that separate it from the Galaxy S line and make more appealing to consumers.

Do your research first before you comment. You know the iPad has more features than the Touch. Can the Touch get a cellular connection through 3G and Lte?

What I am saying is that they aren't entirely the same. The iPad is a tablet, which can use many tablet apps that the iPod can't use. The only weaksauce here is the responses.

Don't forget the larger screen. You can do more productive things on a larger screen. Sammy has an ad out about that concept. Have you not seen it? PA even has an article about Sammy's ad.
Net-net, Note II is a bit more than 'just' a bigger GS III.

Absolutely right, but there is nothing that states only tablets can use an s-pen or any kind of stylus. Options are always a good thing regardless...that's the beauty of Android.

I have the S3 and my wife has the Note 2, and there are some differences. The Note 2 screen is more sharp and brighter. The S-pen comes in very handy as you can hand write and the phone convert it text for you. The S-pen does the screen shots, open tabs to view more option without having to select it. The quad processor and 2 gig RAM makes quick and smooth. Photo edit, slide tabs for for multi tasking and among other things.
For the Apple devices, I have seen and try them all. From the IPod to IPAd, they all the same, the difference are cellular phone and screen size. Yes most apps are available for IPod also, the big question is, is it usable for the end user to have it on a smaller screen? Every single devices are the same no matter how you look at it. They work the same and have the same future.
Mxy, what you don't get is, this is how Apple makes their money. They dont have to redesign for it each device, they only have to train their support on only one thing. They make it think they change things individually. We are just of them that falls for it.
You need to play with all the devices and brain storm how much difference they are. So you have an IPod and an IPhone, WHY????? They do the eact samething!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now im all for huge phones, I own a note 2, and I will be buying the largest 1080 p display that has an external battery (so most likely the note 3) next year.
That said one of the biggest advantages samsung has right now is they have the all comers phone in the s3 and the specialty note 2. If the rumors are true the s3 will end up like a mini note 2. IMO alot of people agree that 4.7 is the largest an average phone can be before you enter "phablet size"
Im sure everyone knows here that opinion on the note 2 is sharply divided on weather its to big or not. Right now though, thats not a problem, if the note 2 is too big you just buy an s3. This might become a problem when the note 2 is 6.3 inches and the smaller phone is a 5 inchs which is pretty much a "phablet"

If the GS IV is equipped with a 5 inch display, unless they biff the design, the footprint of the IV will be only slightly larger than the III. We are only talking about 2/10ths inch increase in diagonal measurement.

Some people are just barking around saying that Note 2 is an over sized Galaxy S, they either need a new life or need to understand technology.
I really feel pity on them why because they comment like this in frustration and they know they can't get these features, functionality and devices from their fruit shops...!!

I think I know what's going on. The Note 3 will be 6"+. Although some people are happy with the size, 6"+ will be too big. Therefore, they don't want to lose customers who would like a Note roughly its current size. Thus, the S4 with the pen.

Why can't the note just be a bigger, more durable, and bettery battery life phone that's enough diffentiation for one phone. I love stylusses so I'm all for all Samsung phones and tablets having them. Clearly you haven't thought about how difficult it will be interacting with tiny controls made smaller by 1080P. Your pinky is too fat, you'll want a stylus in some programs, especially drawing apps. That being said I hated the stylus on the Note II. My HTC Fuse and HTC Touch Pro 2's both had smaller, more precise, and better gliding stylusses.

I'm not talking about JUST the stylus. You could buy any run of the mill capacitive stylus for what you're talking about, I was talking about all the extra features that come along with the stylus in the Note II.
Sure enough, if Samsung brings the stylus to the Galaxy S line, they might as well bring all the software features of the stylus, and that will take half of the individuality of the Note series away, the other half being its pure size, which subsequently brings better battery life.

I agree The S series doesnt need a pen. I got the note 2 for screen size and have never took the pen out yet. Most people would prefer thinner then with a pen. Thats just my experience from working at a store and seeing the surveys that have been done with how many people actual use the pen.

I want a reasonably sized phone and I want an s pen. Samsung should put all the best features in their latest phones. People who want an s pen should not have to suffer with a gigantic phone. All phones should have an s pen, its convenient and if you don't want to use it, it's not in your way. You declare to save the glory of the note line... HAHAHA. What do you care about the note lines glory? If the note is such a good phone, why not make a smaller version for people who don't want a movie screen in their pocket?

I dont think its a problem, if they are a bit thicker if this helps pack a bigger battery,as the note and note II are pretty slim .. so it doesnt make much difference.. but the Bigger Battery is a MUST! the 1080p screen is the main criminal :D! for battery drain!.. 3000mah is a must for the screen and the new processor // GET THIS RIGHT! and it will be AWESOME DEVICE!
As for the s-pen, for me it no big deal. :P

At 5" + edges and 9.2mm, a 3000mAh is pretty much a given.
Agreed, don't think S-Pen would be a misstep, although I don't think the rumor is true (rumor is likely for the "Note Mini"), but would make sense since Samsung needs and usually manages to differentiate itself from rivals, and pretty much everybody will have a 5" 1080p phone by Spring next year.

This might change my mind about sticking to S3..I use the capacitive pen to draw on it but it's a far cry from the Wacom digitizer abilities.
It would be awesome if Samsung gives that to the S4- it may hurt the Note a bit, but it would further separate the S4 from direct competition!
Also, the 9mm thickness means only one thing - sweet, juicy battery to power that laptop-grade processor!
If the rumors are true, the S4 will be epic

S-Pen would be a nice feature on S IV. I miss this feature on my S3. Since S line up reached 5 inch as a minimum size, Samsung would bring the note line up with even bigger size such as 6.3, 7 and 10.1 inches.
Now Samsung has to give importance to build quality and more software features to differentiate other competitors
