Samsung Galaxy S III vs HTC One X vs Galaxy Nexus vs iPhone 4S: spec comparison

The Samsung Galaxy S III is not only the beautiful handset with design inspired from nature and targetting - for a change - humans, but also a muscular silicon beast on the inside…

Well, the iPhone doesn't really win at resolution. Technically yes, but considering the human eye can't detect pixels over 300 ppi, all new high end Android devices and the iPhone tie. But if you want to get technical, the Rezound has 342 ppi if I'm not mistaken, though not the best hardware, still "wins" in pixel density. Camera is up for debate, it really depends on what your idea of a 'good picture' is, though the iPhone's camera is good all around, all the others are still great, supposedly better depending on how others view it. The reason iOS runs so smoothly is because it's a very simple OS. Basically, just a 4x4 grid of apps (not including the dock) with a notifications bar. Though it's very good for people who just want things to work, and are either too lazy or just don't have the time to figure out Android (which isn't very long depending on what you want out of it), a lot of people like the idea of having a device that is actually theirs. Like, you can just take a look at it and say, "That's ___'s phone." The only way you could possibly do that with an iPhone is just the wallpaper, and some people leave the stock wallpaper on it, so you would have to go around asking everyone because you can't tell the difference otherwise because it looks the same. Sorry if that was a bit lengthy

Why does Taco always get so many down-votes? He brought up a pretty valid point here.
61. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
Because we're dealing with fanatics. They hate Apple without reason. Apple's next phone could have every single thing on it they say they want and they would still hate it.
66. Commentator (Posts: 3645; Member since: 16 Aug 2011)
Well of course my question was rhetorical. Nonetheless, down-voting gets in the way of rational public discourse, as enough down-votes hides the original comment, no matter what it was. This seems like censorship that should be left to the admins, not a mob of fanboys...

And we are dealing with stupid brainwashed in human zombie which u are boy u must love to
stay and live life in prison u dont like freedom do u

Calling someone a "brainwashed human zombie" doesn't do yourself any favors: it suggests that you have a phobia of anybody who disagrees with you, and the only way you know how to get back at them is by spewing poorly-worded insults that make no grammatical sense.
If you actually think that people's choices in phones dictate how they live their lives, I'd suggest you get a better grasp of reality. I'd wager that Taco doesn't live in prison, and that he generally enjoys freedom. Otherwise he would probably have been pressured into buying an Android phone because the 99% of commenters on PhoneArena tell him to because, despite your claims that "Android will create a free and open world in which little boys and girls will laugh and play in gumdrop fields, and Apple wants to take over the world and control everyone's lives" (okay I may be paraphrasing), the overwhelming Android majority on PhoneArena has created an ecosystem in which speaking against Android devices (especially those made by Samsung) labels you as an enemy of freedom, a zombie, and a moron. (I'm sorry about the length of that sentence, by the way.)

You're a FANATIC ONE YOU'RE SELF. You bash everything on Samsung phones or other Android phones. and you keep saying Android copy off from iOS.
76. InspectorGadget80 (unregistered)
quad-core 1.4GHz VS. dual-core 800MHZ. seems to me your processor is really slower than any of the Android phones. you seem to know everything cause you think iPhone IS KING OF ALL PHONES but guess what IT'S NOT.
121. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
if you were any smarter the iphone is clocked ar 800 mhz because it doesnt handle all the garbage the android does... but is faster in web browsing then the dual core SGSII.. watch the test... troll

"You would have to use one to find out"
I have an iPhone 4S. and i cant WAIT to get rid of it.
83. InspectorGadget80 (unregistered)
You do realize that SONY makes the iPhone camera right. probably not.
86. kingpet13 (Posts: 139; Member since: 02 Feb 2012)
I have used ios devices. Two of my friends have the 4s. I have used thier phonea. And both are very laggy compared to my galaxy nexus. I do not know how the s3's camera preforms so i cannot argue that point as the 4s definitley beats my phone.also as i stated the 4s wins in screen resolution because of the small screen. Samsung or HTC could probably also make a 3.5 inch screen with the same resolution.
6. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
for all the pentile detractors out there.. the important part is the ppi density, and with that, it handily holds its own.
7. JunaidZaka (Posts: 28; Member since: 24 Mar 2012)
apple has to come up with something alot better than all these quad core beasts out there
even if they come up with a 4 inch screen , its still gonna look like a magikarp infront of all these Gyarados' haha
79. CivicSi89 (Posts: 348; Member since: 23 Jul 2011)
And we all know what magikarps do... SPLASH!!!
87. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4270; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Maybe that magikarp will evolve into a gyarados one day... Over the next few years, Apple is going to need to do some major overhauls in order to compete. Their innovation has come to a halt, and if they don't create some make-overs for iOS and the body style, and boost the hardware to compete with the beasts that are coming out, they are gonna be the next RIM.

lg optimus maxes out on 80gb (64 plus 16).
Waitin for sony hayabusa.
22. theBankRobber (Posts: 676; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
What do you mean by 64+16? Its not the math but I thought Android couldn't use a card over 32gb?
9. Skidro13 (Posts: 59; Member since: 27 Jul 2010)
Is it confirmed that there will be a quad core AND lte for verizon yet?
14. JunaidZaka (Posts: 28; Member since: 24 Mar 2012)
No, not yet
but according to some rumours and leaks the us version will get S4
17. Skidro13 (Posts: 59; Member since: 27 Jul 2010)
That is quite a bummer. I suppose I will be staying with the Gnex for a while
16. Jericho (Posts: 302; Member since: 12 Nov 2011)
waitin for sony hayabusa.
And the difference between lg optimus 4x, one x and s3 are not much except for the screen, battery capacity and storage capacity.
The best screen is lg and htc's as the s3 uses pentile.
Battery capacity round goes to lg and samsung as they both have removable 2100m power batteries opposed to htc's 1800.
And the storage on the s3 is 128gb. On the 4x hd is 80gb ane one x is 25gb.
112. TylerGrunter (Posts: 1503; Member since: 16 Feb 2012)
There is also the difference in the 4Quad technology. The S3 uses 32 nm compared to the 40 nm of the Tegra 3, which means that with such a big battery the battery life it is expected to be MUCH better than the other two. Also the benchmarks will tell if it's better of not, but if past things can teach anything it will be.
I also expect the camera to peform better than in the other two.

The GS3 JUST got announced today, no need to start speculation on the GS4 quite yet :p

Im so tired of reading about this quad core gsIII. We are not getting the quad core gsIII so stop telling us it will have quad core!!!!!!!
56. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4270; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
The US might (that's what country I'm getting your referring too) on AT&T. Like what they did for the GS2, they'll release a HSPA+ one with the Exynos, and a LTE one with the Snapdragon. Or maybe even T-Mobile, if they don't choose to pick the Snapdragon for no apparent reason again. There's still hope.

Not hating on the iPhone at all. But look at the specs. Its insane for anyone to choose the iPhone over the others except that they will because its "The iPhone". On this spec sheet. The iPhone looses on every note except for Screen Resolution. I agree that the iPhone has a Beautiful screen. Theres no doubting that. But man.
Screen Size-Android Powered phones
Thickness-Android Powered phones
Weight-Andoid powered phoned
Processor-Android Powered phones
Ram-Android Powered phones.
Camera-Pretty much a tie. the iPhone does take some impressive photos. But the Shutter speed and quickness of the Nexus is simply fantastic.
Front Camera-Android Powered phones.
Memory-a bit of a toss up. I like that its expandable on other devices. But also memory cards can fail. The iPhone is available in very nice increments of size and theres one for everyone. But what you get is what you get. And thats annoying.
Connectivity. Until a 4G LTE iPhone comes out (dont know why they didnt do this for the 4S) it will ALWAYS loose this round.
Battery Life- Android Powered phones however this one is debatable. Given the choice. I would still go for android. Its clearly the better option. And once again. This is NOT to bash the iPhone.
91. xtian1103 (Posts: 363; Member since: 11 Feb 2012)
there is always a choice for everyone. while it holds true that some people buys an apple product to look hip and cool, some might be an iphone user since the first one and have trusted it, others are mac users who enjoys seamless syncing across their devices, others recieved it as a gift, some have recommended it, small palmed individuals enjoy the 3.5 inch screen, some jumpshipped from android (and vice versa) for whatever reason it is. i like the whole roster of phones being offered by android and if i have so much money i would try every flagship phone each os has to offer.

35. good2great (Posts: 1042; Member since: 22 Feb 2012)
its sad that the iphone is still among all the tech giants of androids... the iphone specs look horrible against them. lol
you guys have to admit... people want the iphone... until android can find a better way to sway all iphone users it will continue to be a world favorite.
and seeing how the majority of sam-heads on here are let down by the SGS3 you can imagine how many "novice" users dont care about it.
bad thing for samsung is..............apple hasn't announced the iphone 5 yet!!! LOL
maybe the SGS4 will be the flagship device.
43. networkdood (Posts: 6330; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
who cares what the common inbred wants. They love being spoon fed garbgae and that is what apple does.
The phone was not really a hug letdown, but the stupid rumors do not help - blame the media for that one.
92. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
Oh now if someone doesn't like android they're inbred? Some more of that sheep mentality coming out.
44. networkdood (Posts: 6330; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
Plus, it is still about choice. Android and its huge selection , blackberry, windows 7/8, and a few iphones. Android is the most widely used OS, but it is still a good competition.
50. good2great (Posts: 1042; Member since: 22 Feb 2012)
yeah you're right... good competition... i can agree with that...
but at the same time whats the point of marveling over great tech of a phone if its not dominating the oldness of the iphone?
we all can agree michael jordan is an old iconic bball player...right?
well what good is a perfectly skilled new generation ball player like lebron james if he cant beat any of mj's records? or better yet get a ring?...

Sammy has so much to offer than the Galaxy s3.. HTC One X didnt miss on anything specially aesthetics.. the S3 looks, uhmmm, normal.. well, they never impressed me with their hardware ever since anyway.. and though i'm not a huge fan of Sammy, i was hoping for something better than what the s3 is right now.. totally disappointing given all the hype that was the past few weeks..
126. taz89 (Posts: 2014; Member since: 03 May 2011)
when ever there is such huge hype, people will always be disappointed its as simple as that...i did not let the hype get to me and did not fall for it to have 1080p screen etc therefore for me i see this as a huge upgrade from my s2..they have pretty much improved the s2 in every way possible...other than a plus display and maybe a non plastic design(although its polycarbnate which the one x and lumia uses yet s3 gets bashed for using it lol as i said hype creates disappointment) i dont know what samsung didnt deliver...infact they delivered alot more software enhancements then htc or anyone else that makes android....for me the s3 provides some unique features(gimmicky some) that makes it stand out from the android crowd that isnt just another quad core phone...phones have come to apoint where most specs of top end phones will be similar so its hard to sell on specs alone and actually start to sell phones on features...it works for apple who rarely talk of spec and have shown the general consumers dont care much about spec as people like us do
48. jove39 (Posts: 1741; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
Just wondering...can we really compare ppi of pentile and rgb display...here is what i meant -
SGS2 has rgb display with 218 ppi (218 x 3 = 654). 654 sub-pixels per inch.
SGS3 has pentile display with 306ppi (306 x 2 = 612). 612 sub-pixels per inch.
So doesn't this mean SGS2 has better pixel density?

Why NO Samsung Galaxy S3 came with 41MP :@:@ !! I would sell My house and buy it :D

93. andyboi_ph (Posts: 101; Member since: 26 Mar 2012)
with all this bickering... honestly, just get the one that suits your taste. I for one would prefer faster internet connectivity on my smart phone and that's about it.
