Samsung Galaxy S III to get Android update in October according to the manufacturer

0. phoneArena posted on 11 Sep 2012, 21:43

When you're the red hot Samsung Galaxy S III, you get whatever you want such as Android 4.1; Samsung said on Tuesday that the flagship device will be running Android 4.1 by the end of October and even those 4G enabled models for the first such pipeline in the U.K. will have Jelly Bean right out of the box...

My girlfriend will love Jelly Bean on her new SIII. I'm still pumped to get it on my DROID by the end of the year. Can't wait to install the first leak.

October?????? damn that feels like 10 years from now. Thought they're gonna release it alongside iPhone 5's launch. Looks like I'm going with XXDLI5 for now. :(

Goddamnit, US carriers. Get on the f**kING BALL, will you? October will be the four month mark from when Jelly Bean was revealed. (End of October, but still.) If you wait much longer than that you'll be right up in the time frame when the first US devices saw ICS.

I am so goddamn sick of the carriers' update policies. I really am.

Upgrade to the Verizon Nexus and you'll be waiting longer than any other branded OEM device for updates, hooray carriers.

While the OS is important, I absolutely LOVE the resolution/screen size of my Galaxy Note...

If there was a nexus Phablet, I would jump to that... but since there isnt...

I can only wait PROBABLY 4-8 months for AT&T to finally vet the JB update...

I'll still go for something like the Razr Maxx HD (or an equivalent Motorola product) if I can because that's the hardware I prefer, but I am so, so tired of the length of time involved in getting these updates out, especially when they still brick devices and/or can cause other issues.

With ICS I sort of understood.

But with Jelly Bean, which is such a minor update compared to ICS, it's f**king ludicrous.

I wish the Note-2 can come with pure Android instead of Samsung UI on top of it.

Why don't they (OEMs & Carriers) give the consumers a choice to go with pure Android or their UI?.

Because they hate stock Android.

And frankly, stock Android still isn't quite as user friendly as the skins, seems like. At least, that's what our Verizon liason claims.

You could have just said Jelly Bean update. I know you need the page views, but this is just insulting.
