Tbh this is quite the normal outside of the US.I see the galaxy s3 outsell the iphone 3:1 on a daily basis. If you included Htc handset sales as well as sony etc then The ios handsets are only making a small fraction of sales figures week in week out. The apple induced slumber is gone and most customers have seen the poor effort apple has produced year in year out. In my store the iphone sold out first 2 deliveries,now it never does and are quite slow by apple standards for selling at all.
Unfortunately for the US,ifans are still drooling cash without any common sense and Apple has the patent system caught by the groin

Andro, I'm always struck by how misinformed many iOS users are about a feature/app on the iPhone that they believe exclusive, or how a perception exists that it's the easiest smartphone to learn (I think WP is easier for first-timer).
I think advertising is the cause. Apple advertises a "gee-whiz" feature, which generates excitement. Samsung has learned this lesson, too, which helped. After that, it's the carriers like Verizon, who seems clueless (how does battling a futuristic robot make your want a new Android, Verizon?).
Do you see something similar in the UK?

Yep, and its just getting started. The S3 was introduced to a bunch of new users who used to be iphone users. Now those people will wait for the S4, S5 or something else but not iphone.

why is it
1. when the iphone was leading in sales its becuase people are stupid but when the s3 leads in sales this isnt the same case?
and

No my man. I still don't believe sales show that Android beats iOS. Over the years I have seen too many, trust me too many people buying the iPhones just to show it off without actually knowing how to use all the features (however limited they are). And when I used to show them things I could with my N8 like hotspot or direct HDMI output or I show them the level of customization I have on my S2 they're blown out of their minds and think "Hmm, how can I do this on my 4S?". I have been amazed by how people can blindly follow Apple just as a brand or status symbol.
Although, now I have seen many more people look towards Android simply coz they were bored out of their minds using iOS or maybe it was even because of Sammy's effective ad campaign promoting its flagship, we'll never know. 5 of my friends bought the S3 this Thanksgiving and I was the one pushing them towards it showing its differences from the iPhone5 and believe me they are very very happy with it. They've found how awesome and intuitive things can be when they can share a webpage or apps just by touching their phones through Android Beam and now no one wants to go back to the dull app-drawer that is iOS.
I'm not saying iOS is a waste. I like some aspects of iOS like its fluidity and ease of use and integration of all of its services but in the end its just not for me. I like freedom.. freedom from being forced to use iTunes, freedom of installing apps from wherever I want, freedom of hotspot, and the freedom of endless levels of customization.
You can deny all you want but Google will take over the world sooner than you want to admit. I know its scary but I think the days of SkyNet are approaching but no one's really worried if the robots appear in the form of those green little droids!

This isn't the same case because, Apple still make 60% of global mobile phone profit while only having 14% of the global market share.

It isnt just a matter a biase towards the Samsung Galaxy S3, if any other manfacturers come out with something worth owning and beating out sales of the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5, then I will gladly be happy for them as well. Its time that Apple starting putting intelligence in their "smart" phones. A smartphone isnt entirely about user friendliness, its about innovative software, hardware, sophisticated looks, and being able to do what other phones cannot do. Its getting to the point where basic phones can do just as much as an iPhone. Until they can raise the bar and stop making pretty phones and start making smartphones, they will fall behind the very smart Asian Electronics Manufacturers.

There's still a huge number of die hard Nokia fans that were holding up for that phone.

If 920 was in same price band as N4 (allowing about $150 handicap to Nokia for M$ License + Camera etc) i would go for 920. Anything above 500 for 920 pushes me to N4. And i can wait for N4 to be fairly available and in no hurry to buy from black market.
