What if there was a recall on all S3, and all the carrier release dates were pushed back?

Yeah, going by that comment it seems that this may be due to the heating system. It's like operating a laptop next to heater blowing hot air on it for a couple of hours.
Something bad will happen.
The problem with things like these are that news websites only want to tell a certain part of the story or won't bother to update an article once more information comes forward.
Even look that the "tree octopus" case.
It really shows how ignorant people are becoming and how you can't always trust what you read on the internet

Well I had my most all my phones at one time in blazing heat on my heater charging in my window area and never had that problem. I would guess it would have to be a short. Millions of phones and one ore two phones got past with faults is not unheard of. I believe it was not even plugged in to the electricity. Even if it was I would think a faulty wire touching another or basically shorting out is what that was. You can start a fire with a 9volt battery and some steel wool.

It's only one phone out of thousand phones. Doesn't make the SGS3 a bad phone or need a recall.
79. jed27 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 14:32 5 3
yeah. because one person is just one life put to danger out of billions of people. it doesn't make the danger alarming, and so it could be ignored.

Oh great....watch they delay the release of the phone for the carriers who have yet to ship it out yet.
6. cepcamba posted on 21 Jun 2012, 07:41 15 1
What you'd rather them ship you a phone that may explode in your face while making a call? IMO, while it's a pisser, it's actually better if they hold off shipping until they find out what the problem is.
Also, I know it's not plugged, but who knows it maybe a faulty car dock.

Short circuit, something was wrong with charging. Maybe wrong voltage or something wrong with charger. It is not phone fault!

If there was a short in the charger...then it would not necessarily need to be plugged in to cause problems.

It is widely believed that the owner of the SGS3 planned to ditch it and buy an iPhone. The Galaxy S3 tried to ease his suffering and pain before such an atrocity could happen.

Then definitely you should be a terrorist..

My two friends purchased s3 at a time, but they sold with in three days because they are facing lot of problem in Samsung device like battery, heating and internet issues. Bad news is this they got only 35% return back price. Dont puchase s3 good to take oneX. One X is great mobile.
Shame on Sammy just making money, not looking consumer.
all my friends hating samsung product.
25. tedkord posted on 21 Jun 2012, 08:23 4 6
After three days they sold them for 35%, instead of returning them for almost fill price?
24. tedkord posted on 21 Jun 2012, 08:21 3 8
With that damage, it clearly didn't explode. My first thought was the battery, since the story said it was on the charger when it happened, but it looked like the battery was intact. I thougt maybe the overcharge protection circuit in.the battery was faulty.
Whatever it is, Samsung better do a first rate investigation, and not just try to lay blame elsewhere.
26. PhoneArenaUser posted on 21 Jun 2012, 08:24 0 1
"With that damage, it clearly didn't explode."
It was just a small electric arc caused by short circuit.

Did you read where I said it was my "first thought", and later discounted it? Did you also read where you misspelled "specifically"?
You're right, someone here is illiterate.
45. 9_2_5 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 09:34 0 3
you discounted your first thought not because you read the story wrong but because you saw that the battery was undamaged. If you're gonna refer to your own words, at least be correct about your OWN words. and a minor spelling mistake is not as severe as misreading an article, dumbass

Haha... there is totally a fanboy thumbs-down war going on right now... almost every comment, regardless of whether they are pro-Android, pro-iOS, or pro-WP, seems to have at least two or three thumbs down by default in every post I go to... doesn't that just seem a little childish and rediculous? Just a very little?
