Yeah, going by that comment it seems that this may be due to the heating system. It's like operating a laptop next to heater blowing hot air on it for a couple of hours.
Something bad will happen.

The problem with things like these are that news websites only want to tell a certain part of the story or won't bother to update an article once more information comes forward.

Even look that the "tree octopus" case.

It really shows how ignorant people are becoming and how you can't always trust what you read on the internet

Well I had my most all my phones at one time in blazing heat on my heater charging in my window area and never had that problem. I would guess it would have to be a short. Millions of phones and one ore two phones got past with faults is not unheard of. I believe it was not even plugged in to the electricity. Even if it was I would think a faulty wire touching another or basically shorting out is what that was. You can start a fire with a 9volt battery and some steel wool.

What you'd rather them ship you a phone that may explode in your face while making a call? IMO, while it's a pisser, it's actually better if they hold off shipping until they find out what the problem is.

Also, I know it's not plugged, but who knows it maybe a faulty car dock.

If there was a short in the charger...then it would not necessarily need to be plugged in to cause problems.
